Oscar is growing into some player. He keeps this up (offensively and defensively) and he'll be the most complete #10 in the world. Finally beginning to show his creative touch which I thought he has been missing a bit this season.
-
He hasn't been amazing recently but players go through bad spells. Cut him some slack.
-
Finally beginning to take on the responsibility that'll make him a great player. Another good game from Eden, this should be the norm for him; he does that and he can certainly become a legend here.
-
Mikel was very solid today, did pretty well in protecting the back four and also played a hand in Willian's goal with a nice forward pass to Oscar. We looked very good going forward today and I think Mikel having a decent game played a role in that.
-
Agreed, with him being a freak athlete for his position and with him playing a lot he's expected to get injured especially when he's not fully developed yet. The niggles will stop in a year or two.
-
Still unbalanced. Not convinced by the Luiz-Ramires pivot (hasn't even been played once this season so don't know how you can say that's the best) and Azpilicueta on the left is unbalanced. We look much better when he's in his natural position. I'd say our best XI is: Cech Azpilicueta - Cahill/Luiz* - Terry - Cole Ramires - Mikel/Lampard* Willian - Oscar - Hazard Torres * depending on form

He wasn't amazing but to say he was atrocious is overstating it. As I said before I thought defensively he was very solid, and he bailed us out on that Lallana chance, plus made a key defensive header so for me defensively he was okay. I agree that on *some* instances he was a bit suspect but overall it was an okay performance for me.
-
Pains me to say this but he should leave for the sake of his career, Mata is and will always be a brilliant player but he isn't playing in his favoured position and he isn't useful out wide on the right. He doesn't fit into Mourinho's system either, and we can fetch quite a bit of money for him, so I think for the mutual benefit of everyone he should leave.
-
Not sure what you were watching but Cole was far from atrocious. If it wasn't for Ashley's great defending at the back Southampton would've gone a goal up. He was bad offensively but defensively he was very, very solid.
-
Yeah, that Lallana chance should've been a goal but for Ashley Cole's world class block, but apart from that we had them under control, especially the first 15 minutes where we could've ended the game. Granted they grew into the game a lot more after (Southampton are a decent side after all) but like I said, overall, this game is probably our best away performance this season by far.
-
I thought we were okay in the first half and we could've been up by a goal or two had we been a lot more clinical. I think this is the best 90 minutes we've played in a long, long time.
-
Hats off to Jose for seeing that Mata out wide wasn't working at all especially against Shaw and Lallana. Great subs that won us the game (especially Oscar, dude was in inspired form, he plays like that and he's our undisputed number 10 by far). I thought our best 11 (give or take Lampard and Luiz) played today when he threw on Oscar and Willian. I'm also now beginning to see patterns in our forward play, triangles and squares, good link up play... That first half vs. Liverpool and the game today against Southampton (where we could've scored so much more, could've easily been 4/5-0 if Torres had his shooting boots) were the best I've seen us play in a long, long time. Glad to finally be seeing some progression, it's all I want from this season - for the foundation of the team to start taking shape, for us to start creating an identity. I don't really care much if we win trophies or not.
-
To be fair, he has been quiet over the last few weeks, but yeah I agree, POTY for me so far, alongside with JT. If Oscar performs like this every time (creativity wise) then he's definitely our undisputed number 10.
-
It was a good sub by Mourinho tbh as Mata wasn't even playing as a number 10 and Willian is a much better option out there than him. Oscar's first great game in a while though, surely you must agree with that. We haven't been playing this well (this game and first half vs. Liverpool) in a long time.
-
Oscar MOTM.
-
It was, but more Oscar's brilliance and Willian's superb first touch and finish that got us that goal.
-
Definitely our best 3, especially if Oscar produces like this creativity wise.
-
To be fair, he was playing out wide on the right, that isn't exactly where he can show his best, especially when he had Luke Shaw and Lallana on his side for most of the game.
-
Go ahead and list them.
-
I gave you examples. Ashley Young & Bale.
-
Lol, don't give me that, British players dive as much as foreign players. Bale & Ashley Young are prime examples incase your memory needs refreshing.
-
Not a penalty IMO, Oscar should've stayed on his feet.
-
Good subs.
-
I say put on Willian for Schurrle, put Mata in the middle, let Hazard fly against a half fit Nathaniel Clyne.
-
We've actually been okay, just haven't been clinical up front. Mata's not even been playing in the middle which is again pretty frustrating, so he can't really influence as much as he can.
