Ivanovic at CB, brilliant.

Whilst that is true, I think that £13m fee could possibly be amortised to £6.5m for just for that one year, whilst the rest of it may be amortised in the following year. It can be done in both ways though I think. Regardless, I do see why the club want to sell him for around £20m now though.

Chump change from the Fellaini deal from last year probably.

Well, if Lukaku wasn't constantly angling for a move out of the club we may have gotten more for him but everyone knew he wanted to go because of the noises he's been making all year round. And CFC won't keep a player just because he's HG. No CL team made a serious push for Lukaku so naturally he'd like to go to a club that is challenging for a CL spot, under a manager that supports him and his development. Couple that with the fact that Jose probably doesn't rate him highly and it's very easy to see why he's been sold. I don't think it will come back to haunt us massively at all, because whilst I do think Romelu will develop further into a good striker, he won't ever be one of the best; of course you never know in football, but I trust Mourinho and the board know what they're doing. As I said, there will always be other players that'll come through. We'll see how things pan out in the future.

If we do sell Torres for even £5m, his yearly cost would be much less than £13m because you have to subtract his wages from that too (around £9m I think), so in reality that cost would go down to £4m.
-
I hope not. We can fetch some great money for Cech but I think it's too soon to sell him. Maybe next season when Courtois has really bedded in as a CFC player. I think it'll be one of the midfielders tbh, but like yourself I really hope it's Torres. Can't see anyone bar maybe Atletico or Monaco that'd be willing to take him on though.

End of transfer window, so anything can happen in the next month really.
-
Hmm, not so sure. City basically signed their spine under Mancini in Aguero, Silva, Yaya Toure and Zabaleta. Added that with great squad options like Milner, Nasri, Dzeko. Most of their first team XI players and squad now we're signed under Mancini and Txiki bar say Fernandinho. He did make some excellent signings last year though, but he had the advantage of having a clear spine in the team to work with and build around.
-
Not sure how he's concluded that it means Torres won't be leaving... Wouldn't take that as a fact yet tbh. We still need to sell a foreign player.
-
Meh. I think Sturridge was a bigger mistake than Lukaku, I don't even view the Lukaku sale as a mistake to be honest because it's best for all parties involved. Romelu doesn't want to stay, Mourinho doesn't want him, Everton are in need of a striker and we get a decent fee. It's fine. Romelu Lukaku isn't the only young striker talent out there. It's not a really big deal for me because he hasn't done anything for us and tbh, will only realise his potential at a club like Everton where he is given constant adoration by his coach and where he is the undisputed number 1 striker. He won't have that here.
-
Sturridge was excellent for Liverpool last year, but you've got to be kidding yourself if you don't think Suarez was the main reason Liverpool almost won the title.
-
Agreed. Might be even more from that. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make top 4.
-
I agree the squad has been unbalanced but then again, as I said you have to take into consideration that we didn't have a solid manager to work with back then. We always had temporary, caretaker managers or managers who got sacked very quickly, so in that respect I personally admire the job Emenalo has done. You can see that now we actually have a real manager and a real blueprint to follow... The squad is finally very balanced.Man City is incomparable because they had managerial stability with Mancini being there for almost 3 years.
-
Sturridge surely did his bit, and he still remains one of my favourite players, but Liverpool almost won the league because of Suarez, not because of Sturridge, even though he was excellent. You've got to be kidding yourself if you're trying to insinuate that Everton will win the league though.....
-
FA or Carling Cup, why not? Everton have a decent squad and a very good manager, they'll be in the mix for 4th for sure.
-
Torres and Luiz were not signed by Emenalo. They were signed in Jan 2011. Emenalo took over in June 2011. So the whole premise of your post (which mainly seems to be critiquing the signing of Torres which is fair but he wasn't signed under Emenalo to begin with) is sort of invalid. Emenalo has done a fine job considering we didn't have a solid manager to work with for most of those years. It's obviously changed now with Mourinho though, and they've together in general done very well so far in the three transfer windows in which they've been working together.
-
Borini isn't even going to Sunderland. Besides, that £24m fee rises to £30m when Everton win a trophy or if they get CL football, so essentially it's more than double that of Borini's fee. Don't know why you're crying about that.
-
What are you on about? Did Borini go for £34m rising to £40m?
-
His deal was £10m, rising to £18m based on appearances and goals scored. He has barely made any appearances or scored any goal for us so that £10m figure would still be in tact.
-
Emenalo wasn't technical director when we signed Torres.

Is There One Big Signing Left In Us?
The Skipper replied to Special Juan's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
We have to sell one more player, hopefully that is Torres. If so, hopefully we can bring in a great 2nd option up front. -
Muriel would be a great signing really, nice, technical CF. I couldn't think of many options before but people have brought up some good names i.e. Remy, Benteke, Bony, Falcao and Muriel as you yourself has said. Hopefully we do bring in a brilliant 2nd choice striker though.
-
Disagree. Ever since Emenalo has been appointed as technical director the club have barely made any mistakes whatsoever, transfer wise. We've made a lot of fantastic signings, including the Lukaku one - if you look at this deal financially, we signed Lukaku for £10m, and have sold him for £15m+ profit. Same can be said about the Mata, KDB, Luiz deals. We've more oft than not been exceptional in the transfer market in the last 3 or so years.
