Again... You can't really compare. Dzeko is not even a back up striker tbh, he was vital for City last year. Dzeko is pretty much a starter (he plays a lot of games even if Aguero is fully fit). He has to be a very, very good player (just under the WC mark for me) for that. Remy is a good player however, better than Drogba is right now, and in between the WC and just OK mark. He's a good striker. He's perfect for us in the sense that Costa will probably start in most of our games (75%). The fact that he's a clinical pace merchant as well means he'll get a few goals from the bench against tired legs when the game opens up more. IMO we wouldn't even be able to bring a player of Dzeko's calibre to come sit here on the bench to be back up to Costa, so we have to go down a band where you get your Bony's/Remy's/Benteke's... And Remy is probably the best option available if you take into consideration price and the fact that Benteke is out injured for a while atm. Remy is a massive upgrade on Torres for me.

Let's have a look at the Manchester teams then shall we... Both play with two strikers in their system. United: RVP and Rooney are their top quality strikers. They both play a huge amount of minutes. Hernandez and Welbeck are decent but not top quality and both get scarce minutes. So the back up they have is not top quality. 2 top class strikers, 2 decent ones. Look at the correlation. 2 top strikers for 2 positions. Not 2 top strikers for 1 position. City: Aguero is a top quality striker, Dzeko is probably just below that. Negredo and Jovetic are also again decent but not top quality. So they have 1 top class striker, and 3 good ones. The only reason why they share minutes so efficiently between the four is because Aguero and Jovetic spend a lot of time out injured. If all 4 were fully fit for the majority of the season they would 100% not be able to sustain the certain model. One of them would almost definitely be off -- heck there are rumours Negredo might go already. Again, see the correlation, only 1 true top striker and 3 others vying out for that spot next to him (luckily none aren't truly top quality strikers, or else it would be Aguero + that other top quality striker as their number one strike force). You cannot compare our situation to this. At Chelsea we play with one guy upfront strictly. It would completely be irrational and ineffective to have someone like Cavani/Falcao on the bench, completely useless. They need to play almost every time. Unless we start playing with two up front, which is obviously not suited to our team at all. This is why you look for someone in between, and Remy fits the bill perfectly. We won't have to play Costa all the time at all this way, someone in Remy's class is a reliable back up player who can step in if needed. Our system is different to those of City and United's; we do not play with 2 strikers at the same time for the majority of the season. You can't have a £60m Cavani sitting on the bench regularly, and you can't have a £40m Falcao sitting on the bench frequently. What we need is a good striker who can fill in when required and Remy fits the bill. If you don't understand that you're deluded, sorry.

From the Guardian. So basically Milan are covering all of his wages. Brilliant.

Why are you so eager to sign another top quality striker? Did you miss us signing Diego Costa or something? All I see from you is how we should sign Falcao, or Cavani etc. I'll say it again, delighted we don't have someone with your thought trail on the board.
-
Why would Jose give him another contract?
-
Is it just me that's disappointed it's only a loan (even if when he comes back he'll be a free agent?). Strange deal but whatever. Torres is gone!!!!!!!!
-
Where the hell are you even getting that from? Di Marzio said it's a 2 year deal, Jason Burt from the Telegraph said the same. It's a permanent transfer.
-
Just relishing his last few moments here...
-
BBC have it as £40m yeah, just took it from there. Various other outlets have it between £40m-£50m so I just took the most pessimistic price.

Costa, Remy, Drogba. Great, diverse strike force IMO. So, roughly, hopefully this window our ins and outs could possible look like this: Outs: Torres (2 year loan) Luiz (£40m) Lukaku (28.5m) Ba (£5m) Van Aanholt (£1.5m) George Saville (£1m) Eto'o (free - high wages) Lampard (free - high wages) A. Cole (free - high wages) Hilario (free) Total sold: £86m (+ a lot of freed up wages) Ins: Costa (£32m) Fabregas (£27m) Filipe Luis (£16m) Drogba (free) Remy (£8m) Pasilic (£3m) Total bought: £86m Net spent: ~£10m Fantastic. Edit - with Torres gone on loan and not a permanent transfer, we won't know what fee we'll receive at the moment. So net spent has been changed to £10m, which is still very, very good.

I love Sheva. He truly tried his hardest here all the time, and even his goal scoring record here is much more respectable than Torres' one. Can't really compare them, I agree.
-
But Lukaku didn't want to stay so that's sort of irrelevant... And £28.5m for Lukaku? You'd have to take that offer. Remy will come for a mere what? £8.5m? One of his main weapons is his pace but I don't see how that's a bad thing? We'll have a very diverse strikeforce. A complete striker in Costa, a pace merchant/poacher in Remy and a target man in Drogba. Costa, Remy, Drogba. Yes please.
-
No severance pack? Interesting. I'll say thank you Fernando if that's the case.
-
Remy >>>>>>> Torres. Remy is similar to Torres but he actually scores, and actually still has pace, and is also better technically. Would be a great buy at a cheap price IMO.
-
Jose not denying anything in the PC... Looks like it really will go through.
-
If he's been called up by Spain then it isn't serious at all.
-
Haha, I never said I wanted Welbeck btw. I don't really rate him. So don't even assume that.
-
Talk Chelsea's local power couple. Forget Kimye/Posh and Becks/Jayonce... It's all about Barbion. I'll grab my coat.
-
This is a ridiculous post. Hope no one on the board is on the same thought trail as yourself.
-
It's 1 year for 20m pal, that's absolute madness. You can't justify it at all IMO.
