  1. Hahaha!! Life saver. It did say 'sold'. Guess I'm not liable anymore
  2. I'd take Richards tbh, would be a very nice squad player to have and he could potentially replace Ivanovic's squad role over the next few years.
  3. Hoping to see that lovely yellow later today.
  4. LOOOOL. I would do this, I'm just waiting for the medical to go through + need someone to record me doing it.
  5. Nah that's not a problem at all Barbs, I just assumed that maybe you were following the discussion. Ask anytime, I don't mind at all.
  6. I have. He did OK for QPR in his first (half) season tbh, considering QPR was an absolute mess at the time. 6 in 14 isn't that bad, that's almost 1 in 2. Giroud is definitely a better all round player than Remy but he isn't as clinical as Remy, no. And if that's the reason why you don't want him why didn't you say so from the get go. That I can slightly understand, but I still believe that at CFC that supposed attitude will either a) change as he's working under one of the best motivators in the world, or get him sold again. I'm more inclined to think that a will happen.
  7. Ok misschien maar ik wist niet dat je het veranderd... Dus het maakt niet uit But yeah, Jase, can't we be Torres fans? Is that illegal now or? I'll gladly take a ban for Fernando if that's the case...
  8. Giroud isn't a top striker but he's a good striker, yes. Under appreciated by the Arsenal fans. I always say that if we had him here instead of Torres we might've won the title last year.
  9. It's pretty much been discussed before by some other guys but Remy is a real nice signing (if it happens) in my opinion simply because he adds a different profile to our strike force. As I mentioned before, we now have an all round, complete striker in Costa, a pace merchant/poacher in Remy and a target man in DD. Remy is a very good finisher and seems to be in the right position at the right time, plus his technique in general is good for someone who is mainly a poacher. Remy would be amazing to bring off the bench against tired legs when the game opens up tbh. At £8m it's a great signing, and if we can add to it by bringing in another good striker next year when DD retires, we'll have a strike force up there with City next season.
  10. Haha. Fraud? Je ben niet serieus mij vriend. He copied me guys.
  11. Yeah, because Remy has then proceeded to be "average" in the PL right.... Question. Would you take Giroud as a 2nd choice here?
  12. Nope, because I never rated Gignac at all, whilst it's different with Remy. Remy is a much, much better player than him. Would Gignac score 14 in 26 games in the PL? I don't think so.
  13. Huntelaar no. He's 31 ffs. I'm not sure Alcacer has done more in his career than Remy either. Marseille and Valencia are similar clubs (size wise) right? Remy has lit it up for Marseille as well so you can't really state a case to me in saying that Alcacer is better than Remy because IMO he's not and he hasn't proven such either. Are you sure Marseille fans complain about him like that? You're lying. I've got family in France who are massive supporters of Marseille and they hold Remy in high regard. You don't know what you're talking about at all. In his first two seasons he scored a total of 17 and 20 each, and in his last (half) season he was injured quite a bit hence didn't play a lot at all. His move to QPR means he didn't give a fuck about achieving anything? Are you sure? Don't you remember the QPR that signed the likes of Granero from Real as well amongst a few other quite exciting players? They were an ambitious team and gave Remy a lot of money. Obviously they fully flopped but you can't say deduce from that that he never had interest in achieving anything serious. As I said before, Bony would be a great signing but how available is he? You're not taking that into consideration. Will Swansea be willing to sell him for £10m/£15m more or will they hold out for an even higher fee knowing that the transfer market is closing soon? It's not a guarantee that Swansea will accept a £20m from us. He's one of their main, most important players. Like I said, there is no rush... And if anything the board has proven this summer that we've stopped overpaying for players. It's better to go into the season with Costa, Remy and DD and then look properly for another striker that can challenge Remy and Costa next season. Maybe next season we can bring in Bony for a fair price, but right now we won't overpay for a player.
  14. People on here love comparing players in the worst way possible... Remy and Ba are both completely different type of players. Remy has CL experience, has been number 1 striker at a pretty big club in Marseille (he scored 20+ goals for them in 2011/12)... It's not that comparable at all. People are acting like Newcastle is the best team he's played for when that's so, so false. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's pretty much some of the same people that were saying that Costa could be a new Torres.
  15. If that were the case then yeah, I would love Bony as a number 2 here, go to the Bony thread you'll see how I was raving about him. However I just can't see the club doing a deal without massively overpaying now that there's only two days or so left in the transfer window. Maybe next season after DD retires we'll have a go at him. Costa, Bony, Remy? It's nice, but people need to have patience and think long term.
  16. Funny thing is, Gudjohnson was never a top, top striker either... He was a nice squad option to have, someone who brings something different to the team, just like Remy would.
  17. Destro isn't for sale according to Roma. Bony would cost north of £25m because Swansea wouldn't have much time to get a replacement. Plus he looks like he's enjoying that number 1 spot at Swansea atm too. Falcao? You want to us spend £40m and 200k a week on a back up striker who is too good to sit on the bench? Or a £20m loan fee? Not realistic. Benteke is injured so won't happen as he can't pass his medical. The 'many 'options aren't as many as you think they are.
  18. Hold on, you've completely changed your argument here. You've gone from saying Falcao or Cavani on the bench to challenge Costa is a must to Bony/Martinez/Benteke. That's an entirely different argument and one I'm sure not many disagree with on here. This is quite achievable, but let's have a look at how achievable. Bony: would probably go for a lot of money right now because Swansea obviously only have a few days to find a replacement, and probably has bigger ambitions than just being the 2nd striker here (IMO). Being the top striker at a decent club like Swansea is better than being second fiddle here. Benteke: would be impossible right now, he's injured. Martinez (overrated IMO): Definitely not worth his £35m release clause. So all in all, Remy is the logical option here, given his price, PL experience, and the different profile he provides for our strike force. Most of your worries seems to be based on the fact that "if Costa gets injured", but I can also say exactly the opposite - what if he doesn't get injured? How many minutes would our back up striker have then? I don't understand why people are in such a rush though. Don't forget that next season DD will join the coaching staff so we'll have another spot opening up upfront soon. We can then really sit down, analyse what sort of striker we need over the summer and sign without rushing into it and when the market is less volatile. Right now there aren't any great deals available. Think long term. The most important thing to me is that Costa, Remy, DD is a massive upgrade to Eto'o, Torres and Ba. I personally think that strike force is enough for this season.
  19. Another effective runner added to the team with the Remy signing hopefully. He'll have a lot of guys to pick out. Wasn't kidding when I said he could possibly be PFA player of the year because the team mechanics suit him beautifully.
  20. Hoping Remy can be that top, cheap, efficient signing like Azpi or Cahill. Whatever happens though, this has been the best transfer window I've ever witnessed. Emenalo, Mourinho and the rest of the board must be commended. The squad is finally fully complete.
  21. You can't call them sub strikers because Sturridge and Balotelli will play together in the majority of games. Giroud and Sanchez (who is considered more of a wing forward than a striker) will also play together more oft than not. Dzeko and Aguero the same. Rooney and RVP the same. You can't compare any of those to our situation is what I mean... Hence why, if you put it all together, Remy is a very good option to have. Next season when Drogba retires we'll buy another good striker, and our strike force will then consist of Costa, Remy, x, with Remy and X hopefully vying it out for that 2nd choice spot.
  22. The Guardian said they're paying £15m over the 2 years for him... If that's the case then they're covering 75% of his wages (assuming he earns £10m a year).
