  1. if we win both we basically are guaranteed CL no way Villa can make up our +14 (or more) GD over them in two games we are +12 now if we win each of the last 2 games by 1 goal we are then plus +14 so Villa would have to win by an average of 7 goals each in their last 2 games to draw even on GD (and they would pip us on more goals scored, unless we have crazy wins, like 5 4 and then 4 5 or so
  2. big blow to Strasbourg's CL hopes last games
  3. FA rule means player will now miss the start of next season after what happened in Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea https://tbrfootball.com/fa-rule-means-player-will-now-miss-the-start-of-next-season-after-what-happened-in-newcastle-2-0-Chelsea/ Nicolas Jackson truly let Chelsea down during the 2-0 defeat at Newcastle on Sunday. The Senegal international charged into Sven Botman with his elbow in the 35th minute, leaving John Brooks with no choice but to show the striker a straight red card after VAR advised him to take another look on the screen. It means the Chelsea No.15 will miss the final two Premier League games of the 2024/25 campaign – including a crucial clash against Nottingham Forest – something Enzo Maresca will surely be very disappointed about. However, a straight red card results in a suspension for three games, leaving many to wonder whether the ban for Nicolas Jackson carries over into next season. Nicolas Jackson ban does carry over into the 2025/26 campaign Unfortunately for the man born in Djibonker, he will have to serve the third and final match of his ban next season. The FA (Football Association) do not wipe the slate clean once a campaign comes to an end, meaning Jackson will be unavailable for selection in Chelsea’s first game of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

  11. Ranking each Premier League club for ‘dark arts’ https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5788866/2024/09/27/premier-league-club-dark-arts-ranked/ snip 1. Newcastle United Newcastle have a reputation for dark arts under Eddie Howe that has been very well earned. Assistant manager Jason Tindall remains one of the league’s biggest wind-up merchants, playing the role of Howe’s attack dog in the fourth official’s ear, generally being active and vocal on the touchline. Goalkeeper Nick Pope is prone to getting an “injury” at opportune moments when Newcastle need to have a breather and Howe needs to have a word with his team. You can almost guarantee that Fabian Schar will go down with an apparent head injury in most matches, yet never comes off because of them, while Jacob Murphy is very much a s***houser — he waved Southampton’s Duje Caleta-Car off the field when he was sent off against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup a couple of seasons ago. And a couple of seasons ago Jamaal Lascelles picked up two separate cautions while warming up on the touchline for delaying opposition throw-ins. In April, after Newcastle won at Brentford, their manager Thomas Frank was furious with Newcastle’s tactics: “We need to look into the dark arts of football and be aware of the sportsmanship,” he said in a press conference, while also revealing that Brentford’s staff were more vocal with the fourth official because “we know that Newcastle have that strategy”, calling out Tindall specifically. Bruno Guimaraes was, by a distance, the most fouled player in the Premier League last season and he’s at it again this year, with 22 fouls won — more than any other. Second on the list? Anthony Gordon on 17. Newcastle remain the standard-bearers for the phrase by the philosopher Joey Tribbiani: “If you’re going to do something wrong, do it right.” xSH – 10/10 xSH means 'expected shithousery'
  12. we will have a hell of time winning v Manure and Forest with no CF
  13. Straight red cards for dissent will result in a two-match ban, while dangerous tackles or violent conduct will result in a three-match ban which can be raised to four or more games in extreme cases.
