I wonder if the board is still waiting to see how Leonardo Spinazzola recovers from his Achilles tear if he had not gotten injured at the Euros, we would not be having any LB conversations (and he can, as a right footer who plays an inverted LB, play RB as well) the big downside with him (besides that huge injury) is that he turns 29yo on March 25th, so even if he somehow is fully fit by fall 2022, he will turn 30yo in his first season he was a monster the past 2 seasons before that injury, is big (1.86m) strong and pacey, and solid on defence

we might be seized deffo not imminent, but the threat is there Kremlin Slams ‘Alarming’ British Threat to Seize Oligarchs’ Property https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/01/31/kremlin-slams-alarming-british-threat-to-seize-oligarchs-property-a76208 The Kremlin vowed Monday to retaliate if Britain seized Russian oligarchs’ London properties as part of sweeping sanctions aimed at deterring Moscow from invading Ukraine. British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss promised Sunday to unveil legislation this week introducing a wide range of sanctions that could target “any company of interest to the Kremlin.” NEWS Russia Warns Against ‘Destructive’ Sanctions on Putin READ MORE “There will be nowhere to hide for Putin's oligarchs,” Truss told Sky News, adding that “nothing is off the table” when asked about Britain’s ability to seize property in London. President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov described Truss’ warning as an “extremely alarming” statement that “undermines investment attractiveness and the United Kingdom’s attractiveness as such.” “It’s not often you see or hear such direct threats to attack a business,” Peskov told reporters. He added that Moscow will “proceed from its own interests when formulating retaliatory measures.” “An attack by one particular country on Russian business of course implies retaliatory measures,” the state-run TASS news agency quoted Peskov as saying. When asked about the challenge of “uprooting” Kremlin-linked oligarchs enmeshed in Britain’s politics, real estate and financial industry, Truss said: “There’s a real threat here to freedom and democracy in Europe, and that is more important than short-term economic gains.”

AZZURRI DOCTOR CASTS DOUBT ON SPINAZZOLA RETURNING THIS SEASON https://football-italia.net/azzurri-doctor-casts-doubt-on-spinazzola-returning-this-season/ Azzurri doctor Andrea Ferretti finds it hard to imagine Leonardo Spinazzola returning to action for Roma this season. The 28-year-old Italian full back exploded onto the European scene last summer during Euro 2020, being a star for the Azzurri in their early run in the competition. He suffered a Achilles tendon rupture during the quarter-final match against Belgium, and he has not played a single minute of football since. Speaking on radio programme Il Diabolico e il Divino, Doctor Ferretti discussed Spinazzola’s injury and estimated when the player will be fit enough to play again. “This is a very serious accident for a footballer. History teaches us that recovery is very slow. I saw Spinazzola again just before Christmas and he was very optimistic, even though he knew he wouldn’t be back anytime soon. “But the tests on the pitch haven’t started yet. I think his realistic return is at the beginning of next season, with the prospect of being fully fit for the World Cup.” This estimation means that Spinazzola will also miss Italy’s key World Cup playoff matches against North Macedonia and the winner of Portugal-Turkey, a big loss for coach Roberto Mancini. The Azzurri coach is currently in Coverciano preparing for the games with the 35 players that he’s called up, which includes Adana Demirspor forward Mario Balotelli.

'Fabregas in the making': Some Chelsea fans amazed by their teenager in FA Youth Cup win vs Liverpool https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/fan-views/fabregas-in-the-making-some-Chelsea-fans-amazed-by-their-teenager-in-fa-youth-cup-win-vs-liverpool/ Chelsea’s young guns pulled off a stunning comeback victory in Saturday’s FA Youth Cup tie against Liverpool – and some Blues fans on Twitter were left raving about the performance of their teenager Charlie Webster. Chelsea’s Under-18s qualified for the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals by overturning a three-goal deficit at Liverpool to win 4-3. Ed Brand’s side found themselves 3-0 down inside an hour and on the brink of exit from the competition. However, the visitors managed to mount one of the most improbable comebacks inside the final 20 minutes. First of all, Webster’s deflected shot from the edge of the box reduced the deficit in the 70th minute. Soon after, Jude Soonsup-Bell netted for the Blues with a great header after beating the goalkeeper to a cross into the box. Chelsea’s equaliser came in bizarre fashion with three minutes left of the 90 minutes when an attempted clearance deflected in off substitute Malik Mothersille. Finally, Tudor Mendel-Idowu tapped in a dramatic winner in stoppage time with a close-range finish. Webster grabs attention of Chelsea fans A selection of Blues supporters on social media believe that young prospect Webster is one for the future. The 17-year-old midfielder scored the goal that sparked the unforgettable comeback. It’s the way the central midfielder performed throughout that fans really loved, though. A comparison to ex-Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas from one member of the fanbase is one he’d love to hear. He’s yet to make a first-team debut yet, but one won’t be too far away if he keeps developing at this rate. The Kingston-born midfielder is extremely comfortable on the ball with some great dribbling and passing in his game, plus he was a real standout in the Liverpool victory even when his team were struggling. Here are some Chelsea fans praising Webster:

I swear to fucking god I do not know why we constantly do not buy these young super players when they are still affordable some players you just look at and KNOW they are going to be great I do not get that feeling on many but ffs, when I do I am not that often wrong and I do not know shit compared to a 3,4 billion pound football club many of these predate my time here de Bruyne (we DID buy smart, (like we did with Hazard and Kanye) but then disastrously sold low with no buyback) Salah (see KdB) Koulibaly Skriniar Alisson Youri Tielemans Barella Theo Hakimi (long before last year) Dušan Vlahović Aurélien Tchouaméni only one I really cocked up on in terms of who we bought and who I was excited over, was Bakayoko (although in my defence (not much, lol) the two main players I LOVED off that great CL deep-run Monaco team were Mbappe (by then too late, I am not claiming I truly saw him coming) and Bernardo, and Bernardo is not really a player that would have played as well under us as under Pep, tbf)

ffs https://sempremilan.com/milan-bakayoko-Chelsea-loan-end AC Milan are looking to make some moves for the midfield in the summer and that could have a knock-on regarding Tiemoue Bakayoko, a report claims. According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Milan will build the midfield around Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer who should extend their contracts before the 2022-23 season begins, while they are also preparing for the exit of Franck Kessie. The Ivorian’s decision not to sign a new contract means that the impetus is now on Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to complete the department by signing a big player, and the current idea is to focus on Renato Sanches of Lille, and contacts with both Lille and his agent Jorge Mendes are continuing. The former Bayern Munich and Benfica man is expected to take over from Kessie, and that could impact the situation of Tiémoué Bakayoko. He arrived on a two-year loan with option to buy from Chelsea over the summer but he could ask to leave if he realises that he is below Tonali, Bennacer and the new man in the pecking order.

Cesar Azpilicueta heading for exit as Chelsea refuse to meet his contract demands https://metro.co.uk/2022/01/27/cesar-azpilicueta-heading-for-exit-as-Chelsea-refuse-to-meet-his-contract-demands-16000886/ Chelsea legend Cesar Azpilicueta is set to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer this summer after the club refused to accept his contract demands. The Spaniard joined the Blues a decade ago from Marseille and he’s won everything there is to win with Chelsea, winning eight trophies in the last ten years. The 32-year-old is keen on staying in west London but Chelsea’s policy of only offering 12-month deals to players over 30 is at odds with Azpilicueta’s demands of a three-year deal.

Have said it for ages only 4 DMF's I would want are Joshua Kimmich (obviously impossible) Nicolò Barella (a hybrid, and the main one similar to Kante, will be crazy expensive and hard to pull, but not impossible like Kimmich) Declan Rice (£100m+ is madness) Aurélien Tchouaméni (the easiest by far to have purchased)
