We need a bit of stability with managers if we're going to profit from our academy. Short term managers wont nurture kids as in 2 years time they wont benefit from them at another job. For some reason i don't see Enrique as a long term person. My preference would be 1. Tuchel 2. Think this summer window will be a stick or twist. If he stays (and signs a contract) i think he'll stay he all his career. Next summer he'll be 28, i cant see teams still being interested in £150m+ player who can only give 2/3 prime years. IF he does go, i agree we need to replace with 2 to 3 top level players or top potential rather than 4 or 5 average £40m players as Spurs did after Bale

Not sure what it looked on TV but from my view Zappa was so wide he was almost off the pitch when the ball was on the right.. He played well, should be 1st choice RWB for me

I really hope that when Morata is back fit/Giroud starts we go back to 3 up top (save the Morata/Hazard 2 up for counter attack games) we look much more comfortable and threatening going forward

If Bats isnt involed tomorrow we cant even play the false 9 (being part of the 3 strikers) will end up being 3 cm's with 2 short strikers. could be painful

This man is insane we need to get him (and Tibo) to sign a contract to stay. Also need to get some quality to assist Eden in the summer. Prioritise a top RW and at least 1 quality full back. Id rather 2 top end pricey summer transfers than 6 average squad players

We've been playing so negativity recently and its getting on my nerves. I understand the 3-5-2 against the tougher possession based teams a la Ateltico where it worked a treat. In games where we are the dominant we have no attacking threat bar Eden + Morata (essentially 2 v 5) we dont have an attacking/driving midfielder nor attacking wing back that this formation needs IMO I hope we revert to 3-4-3 for lesser teams and use 3-5-2 against teams we can counter We also need an upgrade on either wing back (unless Zappa comes good) and a world class RW

Regardless of the split opinion the board/manager want him. Agreed a £35m fee in the summer and now picking him up for £15m. We havnt done badly

Not writing Baka off by a long way. I understand there are aspects of the game he needs to and will i'm prove upon but there are signs of raw talent and promise that could progress into a top PL midfielder. Been thinking of the Baka/Chalobah compassion which was made in the media by some when we signed him. I wanted Chalobah to be kept over Baka for one. I would if Chlobah played the exact same Baka has this season, we'd be lauding him for breaking into the first team, the strength and drive can Baka show in games rather can already writing him off for poor touches and lapses of concentration. They are near enough the same age and id back Baka to improve and become a top player for us

Strange one.. Although I'd take him if he's happy to take a shot every once in a while rather than trying to play tippy tapping arsenal football for the first 85 minutes of every match

Dominated defensively and in midfield yes but no drive or ideas up top and not threatening to score. Pass around the box with no urgency, no one in the box then attempt to flick it through 4 opposition players . Can't remember any clear cut chances we had today. drab performance yet again

Another drab performance, didn't turn up until the 10 minutes. If we're to continue this formation we need more creative players on both wings and wing backs. Willian, doesn't deserve a place on the bench, let alone starter, offers nothing to our team. We look a different team when hazard and fabregas are playing

Think i read Ampadu is to start alongside Drinkwater, so id expect one of Dave, Christensen, Clarke-salter to come in for Cesc. Other than that, agree with this team

If he wants to leave for his family, no one can complain about that. Fantasy it sounds but i would push for a swap with Oblak(and even push for some change) Tibo goes back to Madrid and we get a good replacement.

agree with the above posts. Zappa played alright by getting himself into goo positions but he had zero confidence with his left root, it was obvious to me the Atletico defenders and probably the rest of the 40,00 odds at the bridge that he wanted to cut in and cross/shoot. Easy to defend against. Left back is one of the positions we need to improve to take us to the next level. Sandro would be good, not getting hopes up too soon though

Just reading through the match thread and most of you had a complete meltdown. Decent result decent performance for me. 3rd in the league with all our first round matches against other top 6 out the way

BT sport this one. read somewhere that BT get first pick of fixtures (or do for the weekend at least) with Saturday 5:30 there only weekend slot there wasn't much choice. The FA should help out if they want a competitive league and champions league success
