Nice to be the best at something, Chelsea keep one upping themselves in 'Ridiculous Summer Transfer Sagas' surely nobody can come close to us in this regard.
-
I still have my doubts we are willing to pay, but money issues aside, If we manage to secure him this would be a massive get along with Sarri. Would fit like a glove, he seems more along the lines of De Gea-esque shot stopper, very agile, quick reflexes and strong hands. Say what you will about Chelsea and the striker position, the one position we have always been world class in since Roman is Goalkeeper.
-
because he scored 38g in 42app under Sarri. He is guaranteed goals, I think he would really bang them in here. I don't agree with the potential price with his age, and not even a straight swap for Morata...but its not my money!
-
You put WAY too much faith into what twitter says man. living in a fantasy land.
-
and some "supporters" are trying to drag Roman this summer and saying sell the club, absolute nonsense.
-
I just fear Golovin is a bit of world cup hype, I know he was on our radar a bit before and I have been upfront about my lack of knowledge of him but I still am not entirely sold on him and especially not pinning him as a starting midfielder for us. Perhaps thats harsh or maybe im just ignorant to his actual skill level lol I think RLC will stay and Chelsea will give him the chance to fight, new manager + new system its a free for all. He can come in and earn it, he if doesnt and continues to complain we will be forced to sell him I think, which is a shame but the reality at top clubs. I am not ready to entirely give up on RLC just yet however, i still hold out hope but that might be my ignorance again!
-
ahh my apologies, you had me slightly confused because you said you can't see Waterboy staying, but then you wrote Drinks is a depth option at the bottom of the post. Cesc IS too slow, but he is also too expensive. He will hopefully settle into a super sub role. One thing I will say about him, is when a manager says he can't do something he at least acts like a professional and tries his ass off to improve at it. I hope so too my friend, but if history is any indication I don't think our faith will be restored. We shall see

I think you're right, it will be either Seri OR Kovacic. Golovin seemingly has earmarked one of the signing spots. Kovacic is dynamic, but Seri is smooth. If we somehow secure either I would be very happy. I am not sure who you refer to when you say Waterboy? Barkley? I am higher on Ross Barkley than most, this guy came into a squad that was in turmoil, he was coming off a HORRIBLE injury and trying to acclimate to a new club playing an entirely different position. His chelsea tenure for me starts this season when he is fully healthy and with a summer of training under him. I think supporters have been incredibly unfair to him. I would also be shocked to see RLC not make it through training and impress Sarri enough to stay, he very well could be loaned, but if he is that would fracture the relationship with the club beyond repair I think and we would end up selling him. Bakayoko for me isnt going anywhere, market value too low & he showed some signs of life at the end of the season. I will reserve judgement on him in a Sarri role until we see something. Drinks is surplus to requirements, unload him to a mid table for a chunk of change and move on.

Last season the line was "wait for July 1st, Nike deal kicks in, we have targets locked up and are waiting for the date" I was suckered into optimism with that last year. This year the line is "Wait for Sarri to be announced, we have been securing targets but need to finalize the manager before the deals get accepted example: Rugani/Seri/Higuain" I have far less optimism this year, once/if Sarri is announced I will be very happy, but I don't think this board will be able to act as quick as needed in a shortened world cup market with the wide spectrum of deals supposedly in the works.
-
So many variables here to consider, these are just the main ones: 1) We need to get Sarri confirmed before this even becomes a hint of reality, this is obvious. 2) Would we really swap Morata at his age and price for Higuain? I have my doubts, goes against how we do business. I have no doubts about Higuain as a player, i think he would bang goals in the PL for fun especially in a system he thrived in. 3) Could someone else offer us more money for Morata which we would then flip the majority of for Higuain and pocket the rest? Could be likely, but I still do not see Chelsea paying 50+ for an older striker no matter WHO the coach wants. Unless we receive some batshit offer for Morata, i just do not see the club giving up on a record signing who is 5 years younger than the new target.
-
Kovacic + Kante would be a killer midfield full of lung busting runs and solid b2b work by both. The number i have read is potentially 50m(not from Dimarzio) not sure where this 100m came from. for 50m I would do this deal and watch our two Tasmanian devils fly around. When we sell Drinkwater this dude can be his replacement. say 25-30 for DD and 45-50 for Kovacic? ATM: RLC/Barkley/Golovin/Fabregas B2B: Kante/Kovacic/Bakayoko Not sure what this means for Jean Seri though, He seems most suited to the Jorginho controller role but if we do close Golovin then it would probably be between Kovacic or Seri instead of both. Looks pretty interesting/dynamic to me.
-
Theoretically you're correct, thats the way you & I + most chelsea supporters would think. But my point relates to how the board would think and that goes something like "50 for courtois? offer 40 for Alisson, get denied, offer 25 for Cillessen, get denied, deadline day offer of 15 for Butland, accepted......We tried to get these other targets but a variety of reasons led us to Jack Butland, we are happy with the deal."
-
I obviously want this move to happen, but i just find it so hard to believe that 2018 Chelsea Football Club will pay that amount of money for a goalkeeper. So im incredibly skeptical based off of how we currently conduct business.
-
Are you worried about Golovin taking time/role away from Mount? i havent watched either extensively but they look like pretty similar players. I havent read through these long posts you guys are having but you would know far better than me about MM.
-
Ideal situation is sell Willian and roll that cash into Leon Bailey. Thats a win. I put the Bailey price somewhere around 50m Pounds so if we get that for Willian I hope we bring him in.
-
So if we do get Sarri and this guy im trying to figure out which Midfield role he will play? Will he be the Hamsik most attacking or the Jorginho Deep lying? I keep hearing its either this guy or Seri not both. Thats somewhat concerning, he is having a great world cup but he is young and looks quite slim.
-
God I hope this gets done in the next couple of days. July 9th is the deadline and we are messing about. starting to get nervous.
-
I never said he would play it the exact way Jorginho does, Diawara has a similar passing range or at least not one that is materially better than Ampadu. I must confess I am thinking of what Ampadu will/might be in a couple years when he develops more, perhaps i am letting that cloud my judgement. I also don't expect him to play a massive role for the team, just exciting to think about what he could be molded to be. We will see where Sarri puts him if he stays around.
-
Because he is primarily a DM. He played DM at exeter, He played Midfield for us against everton in the EFL cup and a few other cameos. He did play CB for our youth team, and can certainly play CB as he showed by playing in our 3 at the back. He showed a good passing range by pinging some long balls when he played for us and as a CB for the youth team. I think Ampadu could easily play DM in a system that requires it, similar to Christensen. They are both commanding, smooth football players. Lets remember this boy is 17 getting minutes for Chelsea first team and not looking entirely out of place.

No (not yet) there is absolutely no real link at this moment. just normal online nonsense
-
I agree completely, I think Cahill will get the JT/Conte treatment. The occasional run out, he will still be "Captain" but very minimal game time.
-
I think we do need a CB who understands Sarri, Rugani fits the clubs MO and Sarris. Cahill wont be able to play this way, Zouma is a project still, Luiz is seemingly heading out the door. That just leaves Rudiger & Christensen with a lot of games to be played. I am alright when/if this deal gets done. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rugani in serious contention as our opening day CB truthfully.
-
We keep getting linked with him, he doesnt move the needle for me. Tried to see if he would stand out for Uruguay but he just seems run of the mill. Hard worker, good passer and dribbler. feels like one of those meh targets that we spend 30m on instead of using a youth or developing a player with that skill set we already own. I could be extremely wrong about the player, this is based off extremely limited live viewing and reading whatever I can find about him.
-
Well even if you look at the general market for him, Napoli bought two others, Arsenal got the Uruguayin kid, City seemingly have Jorginho locked up, Man U went with Fred and maybe another big splash. Liverpool have Keita and Fabinho coming in, Barca have Arthur. That leaves us, I think if we hadn't dicked around with the manager this one would have been in the bag weeks ago. we were bidding but obviously a player wont sign unless he knows who the manager is going to be. im cautiously optimistic he & Rugani should sign up pretty quickly once we announce Sarri. hopefully gives us a little momentum
-
I think you might be thinking of Romagnoli, he was the young italian CB who mainly plays in a 3 we were hot on for awhile. You very well could be right though, at that time we were linked with every smooth ball playing italian CB for the Don.
