100%, i'm not excusing how they played. i turned the game off after the 1st goal as i couldn't take anymore. I am the same as you, win or lose all i want to see is effort and determination. We showed none and it was embarrassing. I was merely pointing out that no matter what, we were EL bound. The other post made it seem like if we won out we would be in(could you imagine the outrage if we played like that and liverpool somehow lost? i don't even want to think about what my reaction would have been)

I promise you I have no Blinder towards Hazard, i have a real issue with parts of his game and his value to us. I am more open to selling him than majority of Chelsea fans are. In a hypothetical world though, Sarri likes playing inbetween the lines with short detailed passing sequences. Eden is an unbelievable player in tight spaces who makes quick decisions, often too quick for our other players who arent as sure where to be. He absolutely needs to add a 'Selfish' aspect to his game for me. He needs to WANT to go score all these goals the way Salah/Kane/Messi/CR7/Neymar do. He has all the ability to take over games but seemingly the only reason he doesnt is because he doesnt 'feel' like it. Eden is a flawed player, same as everyone else in the world besides Messi...I just think IF he does decide to stay and IF we get Sarri he could really bring out the best in Hazard. Perhaps its just wishful thinking on my part though.
-
I think thats a little harsh. I am extremely curious to see what he can do in a free flowing attacking team. The fact he has stayed this long with Jose + Conte is pretty shocking. We saw the best of him last year when Conte let him loose, a positive ive noticed this year is his willingness to hit shots from a bit more distance and a dramatic improvement with his left foot as well. I would not be upset if Madrid came in and offered us BIG bucks or a player and some cash for him, but if we appoint Sarri I am quite excited to see him in that system. The same things and far worse could have been said about Insigne before Sarri, now look at him. Eden does need to be a bit more of a catalyst at times when we NEED a moment, but part of that comes down to the system and how the defence is set up to solely stop him and him alone.

ya, i know. and Liverpool had a far superior GD than us. So no matter if we played amazing or closer to the reality of what happened, we still were Europa league bound regardless.
-
Even if we won out we still would have been Europa league bound. Liverpool and Spurs both won out and were already ahead of us, Spurs on points and Liverpool on GD? In no way am i excusing the trash fire performances we just put out, just saying there is no way we would have CL qualified with how the other results went.
-
He very well could, i don't see him as a like for like replacement with fernandinho as he inst nearly as defensively capable or physical. But you are correct, if he goes anywhere its probably City, unless we get Sarri than its probably 60-40 in favour of us. Simply because he knows he will get the confidence of Sarri and moonwalk into our starting XI. Interesting decisions ahead.
-
It is not so much about us being pro-active as these are Sarri-players. They have expressed their love of playing for him, and he has made them integral and valuable players. If(big if) we do hire Sarri as our manager id expect Jorginho & Koulibaly, at the very least Jorginho. Sarri would insist on it and I think Napoli believe Jorginho won't be the same player under someone else. They will collect large sums for either player, and we might be happy to pay for both.
-
I am so torn, I don't want to give up on Morata but if the new coach wants someone else and we have a buyer it might happen? Personally if we get Sarri I think getting an ice cold killer like Icardi is best. That being said, lots of people want Icardi haha he is very expensive and comes with his own baggage. I think we have to wait and see who we bring in to Manage next. That hiring will dictate our transfer targets, especially the higher priced ones. I am assuming the board has already come up with a list we will 'monitor' and 'keep tabs on' Rumours of Sarri wanting Higuain, I am similarly torn about offloading a young talent like Morata for an older striker.
-
I completely agree, Jorginho and also recently linked Jean Seri are more mobile Cesc replacements. I only really see us being serious about Jorginho if we bring in Sarri. If its any other manager for us he will probably end up at Man City.

I understand its not always a great situation and you cant rely on Confidence, but constant undermining from the fans, media, and even the coach does not help. I still remember Hazard/Costa when we finished 10th, They were dreadful. The season after we were champions. I agree Morata needs to be more of a catalyst with regards to developing confidence throughout the team. This is what we signed up for when we off loaded Costa for Morata, there was always this risk and it was probably the biggest question when we signed him. This year was an obvious fail but he wasnt the only failure. They have to band together and bounce back once again. Every player adapts differently to the Prem, all I am (and most people) are saying is its simply too early to entirely give up on the player. It has been an incredibly frustrating year for the entire club, a summer to refocus and a pre season are needed to come back stronger.
-
He has been wildly frustrating, The physical toll wore him down and then he broke mentally. He is a sensitive player which has been a knock throughout his career. His back injury was far worse than I think any of us know. The team has had a somewhat toxic energy which makes it difficult for even our best more comfortable players to perform, let alone a new high priced signee who has never played in the prem. Even Hazard has been inconsistent, every single player has been. Conte included. I do NOT want to sell Morata and cut our losses just yet, He is too talented to give up on. A new coach will be incoming, he might play a style and inject some confidence into us. That is all we need. Our bounces and breaks didn't go our way this year, shit happens. Confidence is Key ESPECIALLY for a player like Morata. Many of you obviously disagree, it is a divisive topic. I choose to give players like Morata & Bakayoko another prove it year. Ross Barkley starts fresh next year as well. These guys have talent and were wanted across europe, we just need to support the team and hopefully the new coach instills confidence. No more suffering and defeatist attitude.
-
My only issue is...where the hell did Klopp find time to meet with a potential transfer target! ahaha thats my only point of contention with these reports. I don't doubt liverpool are willing to pay the sum or that the player is interested. Sad times when Liverpool are willing to outspend Chelsea.
-
I think this would be a mistake to give up on Morata already. When healthy he showed he could make a difference. Unless we decide to change our ways and break the bank for someone like Icardi I am not sure we will be able to recruit anyone at his age with his ability this summer. Lets hope these are false rumours.
-
He is so fast in his highlight videos it feels like they put him on fast forward and everyone else on slow motion. It is unbelievable. I know nothing of him other than him potentially being the fastest man alive and being ex barca youth. Don't really see where he fits on our roster, especially at that price. But the kid in me wouldn't be upset to see the human flash in chelsea blue.

Hard not to get a little excited about the thought of Sarri chain smoking through the game. I let my mind wander yesterday watching Hazard(if we keep him), thinking to myself....Sarri made Insigne & Mertens world class, what the heck could he do with Hazard, Willian, Morata & RLC! I am slightly worried about such a drastic playing style change and perhaps a different mentality along with it but we look somewhat like a rudderless ship at the moment, stuck between the hard nosed gritty defensive teams of the past and the free flowing teams of the present/future. With our current roster & youth teams I think Sarri would be able to make some noise, my expectations would be a reasonable push for the league crown and regaining champions league qualifications(this should go unsaid, but is absolutely necessary) Probably treat the Europa league similar to Arsenal this year, coast through early with backups and youth then focus if we make it far enough, luck of the draw influences it too much to be placed as our 1A option.
-
I agree with the multiple posts above, If Sarri is to be the next manager we are somewhat uniquely suited to fit his style of play. I think Morata suits his style of play very well, he doesn't mind dropping deep and plays rather similar to Milik, Sarri emphasizes quick decisions and movement, Morata might not have the physical presence (yet) but he certainly has the mental capacity to thrive like this. Willian/Hazard(if he stays) both fit the type of attackers Sarri seemingly likes to employ, hopefully we close on Leon Bailey and Sarri takes a long hard look at Hudson-Odoi. My biggest excitement would be in how he uses our Midfield options, Ruben Loftus-Cheek should be licking his lips at the idea of Sarri. He would be tailor made for his system, large physical presence + wonderful close control + good passing range. For me, he could walk into the starting XI and thrive. I also hold out hope for Barkley, i judge his time here as a wash so far. He has been recovering from a nasty injury, in a lineup that he doesn't quite have a set position and a team in flux. He fits the attacking role that Hamsik fills, he can hit from distance and arrive late to the party and hopefully finish. Sarri seems to improve players everywhere he goes, after a full healthy summer I begin to judge his Chelsea time next year. I worry Fabregas would be a bit to small/slow to fill the Jorginho role against difficult teams but he is still useful as a passmaster against lesser opposition. Jean Seri/Jorginho are probably who we need, i also have high hopes for Ampadu developing in a Julian Weigl-esque player sitting in front of a back 4. What this means for Bakayoko? i have no idea. In defense, Emerson and Alonso suit the left fullback role Ghoulam currently fills. Emerson probably a little more so due to his speed advantage, but the consistent output from Alonso can't be ignored. The way Hysaj(who is a target) plays which is a bit more defensive could easily be filled by Azpi. He doesn't bomb forward quite like Ghoulam so I do believe Azpi could fill that role quite well if need be. Moses/Zappa...not so much. Rudiger + Christensen fit like a glove, both have good ball playing ability with a nice range of passing. I wouldn't be upset if he brings Koulibaly with him, or if he takes on Zouma as a pet project but that is for the board to figure out. Courtois for me....he can just leave. Sell him and bring in literally anyone else. He is a great keeper on his day but I am so done with his attitude toward the club. Be it Donnaruma or Oblak or Alisson. Caba is a wonderful backup and must be kept. IF Sarri is to come I think it could make for quite an exciting time, his time frame might not be super long(which CFC coaching hire ever is!) but it could be enough to develop an attractive style which could be followed up by Jody Morris with Lampard on his staff. As supporters we might have to adjust our expectations to the new reality of the Manchester Super power spending, but giving Sarri a squad as talented as ours could make up for the gap. We need to bring in the RIGHT targets and have faith Sarri will finally trust the youth(his history seemingly points to the fact he will, but i thought that with Conte also) Potential Targets: Leon Bailey, Hysaj, Koulibaly, Jorginho/Seri, a dynamic CM(Milinkovic is the dream, but wont happen in our lifetime) I apologize as I'm sure many of my points have been hit on in posts above me, but i haven't been keeping up and just wanted to get my thoughts on Sarri out there.
-
If Sarri does come to manage, this dude would be a pretty impressive version of Jorginho. Throw Hysaj in and thats 2 players Sarri would be happy to have. Seri Kante RLC I could get on board with that.
-
Havent read through the forum so i dont know if this has been discussed at length, but Sarri feels like the most interesting managerial choice for us. Our roster is heavy with the types of players he likes and he would bring that fluent attacking football we have supposedly craved. We have had obvious success with italian managers in our history and most importantly Sarri despises the transfer market. Simeone is a wonderful coach but in the ilk of Jose/Conte I can't see the board going for it. Tuchel is a similar option to Sarri although i know exponentially less about him/his style. I hope we avoid Luis Enrique personally. Down the line it would be wonderful to see Lampard on the bench and Terry/Drogba as executives/directors but none are ready for the positions, that is a dream scenario though.

Repost from Hazard section but thought i would put it here also: Here is a question for you all: Say Hazard stars at the World Cup, Quietly asks for permission to go to Real Madrid as he is not interested in going through another coaching change(understandable). They offer 125m and Asensio. Would you do it? That money could be *Theoretically* spent on Leon Bailey and Milinkovic-Savic. It lowers our age range of our stars to better line up with our promising youth. 433: Courtois (25) Azpi(28)/Sterling(18-19) Christensen(21/Captain) Zouma(23) Palmieri(23) Kante(26) RLC(22) Milinkovic-Savic(22) Leon Bailey(20) Marcos Asensio(22) Morata(25) We would have: Ampadu(17) Rudiger(24) Barkley(24) Hudson-Odoi(17), Tammy Abraham(20), Batman(24) Bakayoko(23) Musonda(21) Drinkwater(27) + whatever other youth progresses Just a Hypothetical to consider, we would have to go all out for Milinkovic-Savic and convince him but it is certainly possible. Bailey is already extremely likely.

Don't know why but I feel like Conte doesnt think Hazard is quite ready yet for a full intense 90' Id be thrilled to see him in the starting XI but this is my guess. Subs guesses would be Hazard/Willian/Zappa Courtois Azpi Luiz Rudiger Moses Kante Bakayoko Alonso Fabregas Pedro Morata
-
Last game of Cahill Suspension. feels like fabregas will get the start unless bakayoko is 100% fit, even then I think Conte will want Fabregas pulling the strings if Hazard doesnt start for some extra creativity. Courtois Azpi Luiz Rudiger Moses Kante Fabregas Alonso Pedro Morata Willian Hazard/Christensen/Bakayoko are my 3 sub choices. Don't think Conte will play Drinkwater/Zappacosta after just signing them since he preaches "understanding our idea of football"

Something non transfer related, We essentially played 424 and looked rather good doing it (Everton were tired and short players but regardless) With Kante/Baka it will be even more secure through the middle. Could be interesting moving forward. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2017/8/29/16222242/chelsea-v-everton-by-the-numbers

i tagged you 2-3 weeks ago saying it was time to start worrying, I am not thrilled with the developments in the market either. It is very strange and one day soon they will have to answer. But the market is still open so i expect a positive attitude from you since you support Chelsea just like i do!

Guy doesn't wanna play wing back and wants a central role. Respect him for making the call, we definitely would have played him at wing back. Sucks to miss out on him but can't blame him if he doesn't want the particular role. scramble mode time.
