They should make Willian dolls and try not to make them (too) racist(-y). They would sell like hot cakes, with the giant fros. God bless you, Willian. Oh set-piece, what would we be without you? Can't live, can't breathe with no set-piece.

I personally don't think would be worth such a platform. Fantastic player but I'd only go to such lengths for a player of legendary level (Vidal's and Marchisio's are extremely hard to find). Pirlo worked out in hindsight but it was something that coincidentally just came together. Or maybe I'm taking too much credit away from Conte. He could be a visionary. And while it worked domestically, it was different in Europe. Juve reached the CL final when Pirlo was already past it. But then again, Pirlo's best season was the year they didn't play CL football. But I disgress. For the sake of Chelsea, I hope you're right. Not at all. I like to fantasise about other teams from to time, imagining how they could improve their teams. I don't know why. Oh, look. They've equalised. Shocker.

One of the biggest reasons behind Pirlo's rejuvenation was the presence of Vidal and Marchisio (and later Pogba). You think Fabregas will ever be awarded such a luxurious platform? In one of the episodes in my fantasy world, Mourinho joins Inter and takes Cesc with him, giving him the Sneijder role and platform. I agree with you, except for the first blip part. He went through these moments at Barca at well. But Fabregas will bounce back. To a certain degree at least. I do wonder how good he can still be. Pirlo played a less demanding role.

Solid in defence, decent in midfield and average up top.

Yarmolenko is overrated. He's one-dimensional and he's not quick enough to constantly cut inside succesfully. At top level that is. Protect the inside of a fullback and he's dealt with.

Owen is an ear rapist. Get that man off the air.

I saw Willian on the wing and thought 'oh no, he's doing the Willian (stop, burst to the right and put in a useless cross) again'. I'm sure he's done that move about 300 times in his Chelsea career and it never works. Now he gets an own goal out of it. I guess that's what they call persistance. A fantastic player until he reaches the business end of the pitch. Once again playing with a false 9. You can't play with a false 9 with 9 outfield players whom pretty much always maintain in positions behind the ball. Cesc has been good. The criticism he's received in recent weeks was unfair imo. He was already improving his form. Only midfielder in central position with technique. Matic has been pretty good too but his job is easy today. Meh performance. Maybe it's just me but I could feel Kiev's vulnerability from the very start. Normal Chelsea would've beaten this side by three goals and it would've been treated as a normal day at the office. 1-0 now but they could easily equalise. Need more goals to secure the win. This is the first time I've seen Mourinho's family at a game. Is the Mourinho camp seriously pulling out the emotional card haha? Maybe I've just failed to notice them before.

They were average at home against a seriously weakened Real Madrid side though. PSG surpassed Chelsea (now they even have Aurier and Di Maria) but there's no excuse for those awful performances last year. I'll never understand how Maxwell has flown under the radar, in terms of recognition, for about a decade. Brilliant player in his prime, with a sweet left foot and wonderful technique. Ajax, Inter, Barcelona, PSG. He was only second choice at Barca because Abidal played a very specific role in the team. Even at 34 and past his prime, he's still a very good fullback. One of the better fullbacks of his generation. Cavani has a tendency to choke at high pressure moments. A shame as he'd unquestionably be considered one of the best strikers in the world if not for that. He's a fantastic player but his finishing in general is not the best, very hot and cold.

Yeah I hope they go for the kill. And I mean all out attack. Flying fullbacks, 4/5 men storming into the box. It's the perfect opportunity for such an approach. There's already a 99,999% chance of conceding so go for an old-fashioned shootout. Begovic Azpilicueta Zouma Cahill Baba Willian Cesc RLC Pedro Remy Kenedy Go into half time with a 2-1 advantage. Bring on Matic/Ramires, Hazard and Costa against tired legs in the second half to add to the damage. 4-2 FT. Never happening but I'm allowed a moment of delusion.
-
His words surprised me. You'd think it's easier to beat Kiev at home than beating Porto. Porto is levels above this current pile of nothing.

It pains me Zola's in Qatar. Falling for the booty like a mere mortal.

Not according to Mourinho. He practically called the competition an abomination for a club like Chelsea. I truly hope it doesn't come to pass but it would hilarious if he ended up guiding the team to the Europa League by finishing 3rd in the group. I'd check all the bridges in the London area for a grey-haired man walking around with a cement block and rope.

Yet another rat? Rats seem to be following him wherever he goes. He should check his pockets for cheese.

It's terrible. They can 'release' all kinds of stories now. I'm waiting for the Mourinho caught Hazard, wearing a bunny outfit, and his daughter covered in strawberry syrup, and Mourinho went through Oscar's phone and found disturbing pictures of Oscar, his wife and his sister involving wet celery, a flying helmet and an egg whisk stories. I'm sure Chelsea will be responsible for a substantial amount of the earnings of the papers the coming weeks. Keep em coming.

That's passion!!! Passion is linked to running around and fighting in the eyes of many fans. Even though the runners and physical players are simply playing football the only way they know how to. Not every player of that ilk is a passionate player imo. Decisive skill is never branded with the tag passion for some reason, completely unfair. Messi for example is one of the most passionate players I and the world has ever seen.

Did the club actually come out and state they were looking for someone to appoint for a long term job? It wouldn't even make sense, it would have to be earned. I don't think the words of fans count. Opinions will differ among that very same group of fans and we're too emotional when it comes to our club. And we as fans look from the outside in, ignorant to many factors that play a part in every decision.
-
It's a pipe dream because it's a rarity. You can't just want or wish someone to be capable of doing what Ferguson did. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, Juventus, Milan etc. all have booked succes for decades with a number of managers coming and going.
-
True. The drama and negativity was always going to happen but I never thought an on-pitch situation like this would occur under Mourinho. If not for that, I think he would've survived/stayed for at least another full season. Now I don't know what's going to happen.
-
What manager actually thinks he'll be appointed for a long tem job at any club? The Ferguson experience is a pipe dream.
-
Di Matteo or the club - my money is on the club - anticipated his decline, or better said, saw the need for a future successor and bought Azpilicueta. Cole on the opposite flank already had an in-house successor in Bertrand. Good moves. Fast forward three years and they're both good fullbacks. But then Mourinho was appointed and he went into a different direction. That's something that has hurt the club for years and you would think they would finally learn. Always swerving. Cole gone, Bertrand gone. Ivanovic has been declining for years. Azpilicueta, his successor, moved to opposite flank. Luis in and out. Baba in but apparently not good enough. Centreback Zouma is prefered at fullback and the less said about his performances there, the better. Now we're crying for better options.

An attacking midfielder with flair in his first season, with clever positional sense across the attacking third, capable of producing moments of magic and the added bonus of good work rate. Inconsistent still. Now a boring defensive attacking midfielder (yup, oxymoron), a mere work horse tracking players and putting in tackles (a role he can't even keep up for a full year). Inconsistent still. Sad.

I love it actually. Something is thrown into the world and people start creating stories in their heads and it becomes reality and truth. Off with his head. Off with his feet too.
