Even as a CB, how much can he improve at 29? It's unlikely but not impossible I guess. I think he's a pretty solid CB overall but not trustworthy and definitely not a leader at the back. Ideally, he would be partnered with that type of CB. A Godin for example. Kompany even. It would be amazing if he could find that clarity under the tutelage of Conte. Because he does possess the abillity to become a very good CB. World-class level is beyond him me thinks. I expect him to continue to enrage many and his style of defending still isn't respected and valued as much in English football as it is in the other parts of the world. I like David though. David, Eden and Michy must be hilarious to be around.

Costa being unavailable is inevitable, whether due to injury or suspension. From Nainggolan to Joao Mario to Brozovic. Inter decided to upgrade their midfield with Banega and Joao Mario because the likes of Brozovic, Melo and whoever weren't good enough. Never seen a better Chelsea performance than that one. From start to finish, complete dominance. Beautiful and crisp play as well. Liverpool game will be interesting yeah. High energy. Unless Conte will deploy underdog tactics.

Hmm can't help but think this is a decent player at this level best and not the answer to Chelsea's problem. Let's hope I'm horribly wrong and he's as good as people claim. He does have age on his side so that's a plus. If only Chelsea could add a class centre-back and centre midfielder to the team...

Never impressed me or stood out whenever I saw a Fiorentina game over the years. Seemed at home at that level tbh. Could make a decent squad player but I don't this guy is Chelsea's new left-back. Darmian looked like a better player imo but he isn't up to standards either. Chelsea seriously has a strong aversion against fullbacks with real pace btw. Always decent pace at best. Cole and Bosingwa being the exceptions.

No one is in the market. That's been the story of the summer. Money talks in the end. That's the thing. Chelsea already possess two next big things in Zouma and Christensen. And again, why send him on loan to bring in Romagnoli? I can already imagine Romagnoli joining and most likely struggling to impress and failing to improve Chelsea's defence. One group will say 'oh he's young, he needs time to adjust, it's his team mates fault he's struggling', while another group will call him overrated, a flop and a stupid purchase. Of course there's a chance he'd join and impress but the odds are against him. Chelsea need someone who will perform now. If that player isn't available, you have to be patient. No point in buying for the sake of buying.

I'd rather not buy a a CB in development but young defenders like Leverkussen's Tah and Hoffenheim's Sule showed a lot of promise. Same goes for Umtiti and Bailly, of course they've already been poached. Gimenez and Marquinhos are also players who have shown great potential over the past few years.

Really don't understand this. Loan out Christensen and bring in Romagnoli? Romagnoli wasn't even good last season. Chelsea have no need for a developing CB. They already have two in the ranks. The team needs a player in the centre who will perform now, not later. But if you're going to buy a young developing CB, buy one who just came off a strong season because he's joining a mess of a defence.

Only one way to deal with this bunch at home. Attack the **** out of em.

So happy for him for his start at Chelsea. Already building up credit and already winning the hearts of fans. It's extremely early but I have a good feeling about him. Easily as talented as Morata and Lukaku. I'll keep saying it. Michy is making waves.

It's a shame the Radja deal fell through. Very good player. I'd still make one last final offer for him. Manolas is a solid defender but that's it for me. He's never really impressed me. Loved what Carona did to him in the end btw haha. Talented player. Neves has lost his spot in the starting XI. I'd pounce on him.
