I couldn't make a list even if I tried, too many greats and everybody's personal takes on what makes a player a great striker, but that's not a bad list. Raúl wasn't a pure striker though. More a supporting striker like Bergkamp, Cantona, Baggio, Del Piero, Totti etc. Love how you added Eto'o in your list, very underrated striker. The same goes for the Great Alan Shearer, how I loved that man as a kid. But like I said, there are so many greats like Ruud van Nistelrooy (still one of the best finishers around, i would even say the best, Gabriel Batistuta, Pippo Inzaghi, Robbie Fowler, David Trezeguet, George Weah, Jürgen Klinsmann, (young) Michael Owen, (young) Patrick Kluivert, Christian Vieri, Roy Makaay and the list goes on and on. This generation lacks a great great striker although Dzeko has the goods to become one. But that's because like the 'number 10', the pure striker is becoming a lot less important in football and they are starting to fade.

He said that? Way too early to make statements like that. It only gives fans/Abramovich false hope and gives the media more ammo if we fail to win our next game (just look at the 'we will win tomorrow' comment, referring to Wolves game).

Might as well post my ratings Cech: 6 (Superb save in the first half but didn't have much to do) Bosingwa: 6.5 (Energetic performance and because of him always a man on the right wing and some danger, poor crossing though) Ivanovic: 7 (Didn't have much to do at the back but was the matchwinner with a goal and assist) Terry: 6.5 (Loved how he came forward to help out and made a crucial tackle in the first half. Great assist too) Cole 6 (Solid performance, got forward well but nothing special) Essien 6.5 (Solid performance, made some great interceptions and worked well with the defenders and midfielders) Ramires 7.5 (Great and energetic performance, brought pace in our play and got forward well. But pretty quiet in the second half, unlucky not score) Lampard 8 (Lampard was fantastic, his passing game together with his vision was spot on and was the main reason our midfield worked so well today. His off the ball movement was great too, best man on the pitch). Anelka 6.5 (Solid performance with good movement, still taking too long on the ball at times) Drogba 3.5 (Terrible performance) Malouda 6 (Okay performance, linked up well with Ash but hardly got past his man and wasn't really threatning. Played better after the 1-0)

Agree. I think he got very excited hearing those things.

Pretty much a solid performance although our play still too slow. CA and the boys will need to work on that. Best player on the pitch: Frank Lampard (special mentions to Ramires, Essien and Terry) Worst player on the pitch: Didier Drogba Feel sorry for: Daniel Sturridge
-
4 whole minutes . Sucks to be the footballer Daniel Sturridge.
-
I think it's Father Time.
-
Don't get why Anelka got subbed. Drogba has been horrible today.
-
Kalou manages it again. It's truly incredible.

Twin Towers ft. Frank Lampard Florent Malouda

I adore Lampard. He makes everything look easy. Best man on the field. Ramires has been doing good too but his passing is still too raw. And Essien has been doing well too, showing some signs of The Bison. Wish Anelka would speed things up. He's not having a bad game. His off the ball movement is good and he's been getting into the box but he's taking too much time sometimes and should shoot more. The same goes for the whole team. The football they're playing is solid but it's too slow. We need some pace and individual brilliance to break down the Blackburn bus. And the off the ball movement is better than before but it should still be much better. Incredible save by Cech! That really should've gone in but Petr saves the day for the 1598th time this season. For the rest we've been solid at the back but that's mostly because of Blackburn's refusal to attack. So more pace in our play and shoot more please. Not going to make sub suggestions, it's useless. COME ON CHELSEA !

'60-65 Kalou IN Anelka OUT '70-75 Fereirra IN Bosingwa OUT '75-80 Sturridge IN Ramires OUT

I really wonder what the likes of Sturridge and McEachran have to do to start. Maybe get some fake passports saying they're 30? Sigh.
-
Don't get what your saying. So you want us to go out and buy very talented young players right now in the winter? Arsenal have the likes of Squillaci, Eboue, Rosicky, Diaby, Denilson, Bendtner, Chamakh, Arshavin on the bench. Not exactly youngsters, that's a myth.
-
Lampard wasn't better than Benayoun/Pienaar when he joined us. Of course he was younger but still, he wasn't better. And don't people realise you also need good players on the bench? People complain about our weak bench but when a player like Pienaar comes along to strenghten the bench, they don't want him? The likes of Hamsik, Sanchez or whatever won't join us to sit on the bench. We still have one the strongest first 11's in the league, when they perform like they should, but we have a weak bench so the club should focus on that first. If we went out and bought someone like Sanchez now, he would probably still have to get used to the team and the league. It's better to get players like that in the summer.
-
That's a refreshingly different choice.
-
As long as CA doesn't trust the likes of Kakuta and McEachran enough to play them more, Pienaar would be a great signing (would let Benayoun go though if Pienaar would join us). It's better than overplaying our starters like CA is currently doing. Calling him a average players only proves you don't know the player. Pienaar is a very good player, and we can use a quick, technically gifted player with great ball control in midfield and in general, and the fact that he can play on the left/right wing and in midfield makes him a very useful when struck by injuries or when players need a rest.
-
I can understand that.
-
Come on Carlo, surprise me/us.
-
Couldn't agree with you more.
-
Well, which one is yours ?
-
Isn't it sad both Ronaldo and Bergkamp never won the Champions League .
-
Even if it's Gary Neville, just say it . Dennis Bergkamp. Intelligence and class. Special mention to a my two other all-time favorites: Frank Lampard and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
