Confidence doesn't bring back your physical attributes.. (and i'm not basing it on what he's shown at Chelsea, at Liverpool it was already obvious he lost those things I mentioned) I'm not saying he won't be a great striker for us but i don't think he'll be that Torres again. That Torres was probably the best striker around.
-
To be honest, i don't see him becoming that Torres anymore. He's lost too much strength/balance, agility and pace, Those things, together with his phenomenal finishing and movement, were his main strengths. He still has some pace but nowhere near as impressive as before but his great agility and balance is gone. I just hope that with confidence his finishing abilities of two years back will return (or at least something close to it). And his great movement and positioning will hopefully return when he's full of confidence too.

Tonight: Aris Thessaloniki - Manchester City Now switch Manchester City with Chelsea FC. .... As I said before, the Europa League is horrible. Makes me sick just thinking about the possibility of us playing in that competition. Not a single top player would join us and we really need some quality players to strenghten our squad.

20 points out of a possible 48 . 19 goals scored, 19 goals conceded in 16 games .

Yup, I don't think i'll ever stop calling him ladyboy.

No our midfield isn't good enough. Ever since January 2009 i've been hoping the club would sign creative midfielders (or make use of the academy) and everytime the club ended up disappointing me. It's been a obvious problem for years, lack of creativity, but it seems like no one at the club recognises it. Like LDN said, 4-3-3 works but you need pacy wingers who can get past players, provide width, provide great movement and who also get behind the opposition defence, run behind their defence, from time to time (when players do that, the opposition defence drop deep which creates space for the team in possession. None of our current winger options fit that bill, they're all midfielders (yes current Anelka is a midfielder, he's been playing like one for over a year). Well except for Kalou, he can play like a winger but he's (supporting) striker and he's just not good enough. And two midfielders, well at least one, with great passing ability, technique, vision and intelligence is key (Fabregas and Wilshere, Xavi and Iniesta) in our current 4-3-3 system with two centre midfielders. If you have those players, the 4-3-3 system with two centre midfielders will without a doubt work but we would have to spend big time. And either Mikel, Ramires or Essien would have to go since they would only be useful as a DM. 4-2-3-1 would also be good option but we would still need two new wingers and a attacking midfielder (someone like Özil would be ideal, someone who has pace, great ball control and can provide the killerpass). One thing is for sure, we will need to spend. Squad simply isn't good and big enough to compete for all competitions. Even though I don't like the diamond formation, I fully understand why he wants to play it. Our wingers are just too poor. But he should play Josh (more) to save our season. He's the type of midfielder we desperately need and he's the only one in his kind we have. I don't see why Josh can't do what Wilshere did for Arsenal. Cech Bosingwa Ivan/Luiz Terry Cole Mikel/Luiz Essien/Ramires - Lampard/Josh Josh/Anelka Torres/Drogba - Anelka/Kalou *No Ivanovic at RB, he doesn't provide us enough width (crucial for this system), lacks ball skills and is of a too defensive nature. *When you look at Luiz' game, he could be a excellent DM.

Creative midfielders should've been our main transfer targets for over 2 years now.. Even though I already love Luiz, he and Torres should not have been the players we brought to the club in January. We were painfully obvious in desperate need of creativity in midfield and attack (wingers). Get two new wingers and a creative midfielder (or play the youngsters that fit that bill) and we're a topteam again
-
The reason why i've been screaming for the club to buy creative midfielders or use the young ones we have (Josh and Gaël) for years! And sometimes i got the reply ''we have Lampard and Benayoun'.. Apparently many don't realise how crucial creativity is, especially for the passing/possession game we have been trying to play since last season. You need at least three very creative players in your starting line-up for that kind of football. The club seems to be obsessed physique for some reason.

It's CA's job to keep his players sharp, highly motivated and give them the confidence and feeling they are the best (the last one is for coach at a big club). It's his job to play his best performing players, it's his job to rest them when needed and it's his job to pick the right tactics and line-up. It's obvious whatever he's been doing for the last 4, 5 months isn't working. If things don't go well for a few games, fair enough. If things don't go well for such long periods, you have to change whatever your doing in all the/some of the areas I mentioned. When one or two players aren't performing, you can't blame the coach. When the whole team is underperforming, the coach has a lot to do with that. It's simply not possible for a 'entire' team to play under there level. I don't know what's going on and what's happened to us but it's CA's job to fix it, whatever it takes. That's all I have to say in this issue.

I hope you're joking . The Europa League is horrible.
-
Europa League football next season is coming close to reality .
-
Luiz has more vision than all our players except for Lamps and Josh .
-
Come on Fernando, you're getting the service now.
-
Good play Chelsea. Torres a bit unlucky.
-
We're playing in a diamond formation. Anelka's job is the supporting striker role.
-
Poor first half. Anelka seems to be the only one wanting to pressure high up the field. So embarrasing to see us dropping so deep when defending against Fulham..
-
COME ON TORRES. His touches are worse than Alex'
-
We're dropping too deep when defending and because of that every time we try to counter, Torres has no support up front. We should put pressure higher up the field, i mean come on we're playing against Fulham. Start playing football Chelsea, long balls are not the answer.
-
What's wrong with Fernando's touches? They're all so poor..
-
Carlo found his balls . I think he realises Torres is at his best as a lone forward. Malouda, Anelka and Frank Lampard will need to perform. C'mon Chels ! According to the official website we're playing in the diamond formation with Malouda as the man behind the strikers, interesting.. Don't like Ivanovic at right-back in the diamond formation though.. but then again, Bos is injured. We need constant width from our right and left-back and they need to be good on the ball.

The scary thing about Ronaldo is that even though he should be one of the definitions of the word greatness, you still ask what if? The level of greatness he could've reached is frightening. Goodbye Ronaldo. Am I the only who gets annoyed seeing Cristiano playing with Ronaldo on the back of his shirt (wearing Raúl's number too)? It's not even his first or last name.
-
Yeah totally agree with you, 21 mil pounds in total for him was a good deal. I was against signing Torres for 50 mil, now I can only hope he'll score many goals for us. Don't see it happening in a two pure strikers system though. Fernando is at his best in the middle as a lone striker, he shouldn't be drifting out wide.
-
5. David Luiz did a very good job (and he'll probably be my favourite Chelsea player in a matter of weeks ). 6. CA made changes earlier than he normally does.
-
Hmm didn't really notice that tbh. But he was far from the worst player on the pitch today. Mikel really disappointed me today. He plays a crucial role in the diamond formation but again, he didn't perform in a big game. Really don't get why.
-
Essien and Terry were our best players. He moved well, his passing was good, he worked hard and he hardly did anything wrong.
