Great finish by Kalou, has to be said. He was lucky to get the ball though, Ramires tried to control it but failed .

Chelsea killer.

Again poor, poor first half. I think it's official now, we can't create chances from build-up play anymore. We just pass the ball around with no imagination, no idea. It's so sad to see. We've become so static. We were always pretty static but now it's ridiculous. Our players up front just stand still except for Anelka who seems up for it these last three games or so. The concept of possession/build-up play is move, receive, pass. What we do is, stand still and pass. You won't get anywhere playing like that and even a League One side can defend against that. We only seem to be dangerous on the break but even on the break you spot our lack of real pace which messes up those opportunities too. We've been like this since October yet the club's main target this transferwindow was a CB. I couldn't believe it, still can't believe it. We need (effective) movement (and players who can go past men) up front and pure playmaker in the middle. Only then will the 4-3-3 formation work. The best thing to do now would be to bring Josh in centre midfield, not defensive midfield, and take off Malouda (who has poor for months) for Kalou since Sturridge isn't on the bench. Haven't really enjoyed a Chelsea game since September I think .

Come on Chelsea. A good performance this time. I'll take a 1-0 win together with a good performance over any 4-0 win together with a crappy performance*. Time to play like a true topside again. *except if it was against Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, City or Spurs .

Hope this doesn't go through. Torres has been slightly above average at best ever since the 09/10 season, showing glimpses of his class from time to time, and there's no way anyone can be sure he can become the old Torres again. Not to forget the fact that he's super injury-prone. 35 mil pounds is a lot(!) of money, too much of a risk if you ask me. The club should've gone for Dzeko if they were looking for a striker. He would've been perfect but that's out of the question now.

Whether you see place for him in this team is different issue but judging him on his amount of assists is just wrong and stupid. Like i said, he doesn't play high enough up on the pitch to be the man delivering the final pass and football is so much more than statistics. And he was bought for 1.5 mil by the way. In these times, paying 1.5 mil for a player is like paying nothing at all. Stoch had a great first half of the season, sucky second half of the season. Stoch was a player of the best team in the league, they became champions. Matic plays for one of the worst teams in the league. I don't think i have to explain to you that there's huge difference in playing for one of the worst teams and playing for the best. Everybody here in Holland can see Matic is a talented player with great ball control and technique. But he's lazy and he's become a ball hog, probably due to the fact that he clearly hates playing for this team. They even dubbed him as being arrogant, something which was certainly not the case here at Chelsea. He can't wait to leave Vitesse and is acting up because of that.
-
Judging a playmaker on his amount of assists is horrible logic. Matic doesn't play high enough on the pitch to be the man of assists and Vitesse sucks big time. One of the worst teams in the league, mainly because they brought in a lot of new players together with a very unexperienced manager.

Never said he was worth 40 milion, that was the amount you had to pay for him two years ago. You never pay the amount a player's actually worth. Don't know how much he's worth but a player of his age and calibre is going to cost you. And it was just an example of a player Chelsea was seriously interested in anyway. But don't tell me you would pay 30 mil for Luiz yet you wouldn't pay more than 20 mil for Aguero ?
-
30 million for a defender . Yet we refused to pay 40 for Aguero .
-
Still wish the club went after Sanchez (or any other good attacker), we're lacking up front.
-
Luiz is coming?
-
Petr Cech for Chelsea Player of the Season. He has to win it this year.
-
About Essien, like the last three games, he starts very poor and then improves as the game goes. There's something wrong with him mentally at the moment but i hope he get's it together soon.
-
That's true. I added something like that to my post later on.

Horrible first half. Game was over after 2-0, Bolton stopped putting pressure on us so the game was easy after then. Yet we still weren't able to really perform so i'm still worried. Poor but efficient game. But we won, scored four goals and didn't concede so i guess i should be happy about that. But there's no way we'll beat the likes of Man Utd, Spurs and City if we play like this. I even give Copenhagen a good chance knocking us out if we continue like this. CA has a lot of work to do. But hopefully this win boosts the confidence of the players which can lead to better performances. Cech - 7 Bosingwa - 5.0 Ivanovic - 5.5 Terry - 6.0 Cole - 5.0 Mikel - 6.5 Essien - 5.0 Ramires - 5.5 Anelka - 6.5 Drogba - 6.0 Malouda - 5 And ohw yeah, if CA is trying to turn Josh into a DM then i hope he (by he i mean CA) moves on soon. And Kalou over Sturridge again.. sigh.
-
Horrible, horrible performance. What has happened to our play?
-
That midfield . A little bit of pressure and they all break down (Mikel not so much). Not sure of a good result now, this is gonna be a tough match.

I see. I like Lalkovic. He seems like a great talent from what the little i've seen from him. He's lightning quick off the mark which is always a plus point and there's just something about him
-
I noticed Lalkovic has been playing as a striker lately. How did that happen?
-
Haha exactly.

The reason our defence seems weaker is because we play in a more attacking way than we used to. Until we learn how to absolutely dominate games like Barcelona, conceding more goals than were used to is the sacrifice we'll have to make. The amount of goals we've conceded, the same amount as City and United, isn't even that bad when you consider City's and United's more defensive approach.
