It does not make sense according to me. Barca and Real blew up - they are close to bankruptcy - because over the last few years they have spent huge amount of money on players that turned out to be bang average with very long contracts and huge package. Some players that even do not play for them; Real; Bales on 550k a week, James Rodriguez, etc.; Barca with Umtidi, Dembélé, etc. Bayern is very much well managed instead. They will never spend 80£+ or 100m Euros on a single player. No surprise they do not need to sign Havertz for the price tag fixed by Dortmund. They destroyed Barca without Harvertz. And Leipzig is doing very well without Werner, qualified for CL semi-finals, no need to spend crazy. 80m £ for a player with little experience might lead us to the same issues as faced by Real and Barca. Non-sense.

Very easy to shoot down Willan now that he is leaving, despite all of the trophies he contributed to bring to us. What about our midfield btw? Completely outclassed by mid-table PL teams, not to mention Bayern Munich. Do you guys seriously believe that Jorginho and to a lower extent Kovasic are able to compete with best European teams? And what about our defense, do you really believe that James, Christensen, Rudiger, Emerson, etc. are up for the job? We need a complete overhaul, that includes mid-field and defense. It is a kind of miracle we are qualified for next CL, but if it is to be kicked-out by 7-1 again, I do no see the point. Just look at the headlines in the European media, sort of "Chelsea destroyed by Bayern Munchen"; "Chelsea humiliated again by Bayern Munchen".

Who are these "so many better players than him we have"? CHO who is 19 and yet everything to prove? Ziyech, who hasn't yet played a single match in PL?

One of our best players for years. I do not see anything positive in him leaving (for free). He certainly has 2 additional years to perform at the highest level. Not three. And there was no way we would pay an additional 3 years contract. Disappointed but let's move on. It was his own decision.

Kanté is our main asset that can be sold at high price. Drinkwater and Bayayoko are loanees, so they bring us revenues. Jorginho and Barkley can be sold, but we won't get 80£ million or anything nearby, be serious, they are very much average players.

Really? If we buy Kai, and it seems that the deal is all done, we would have to sell Kanté to raise funds, no surprise here.. Of coure, Kanté is lacking match sharpness. CL is a at least 30 million as additional cash not taking into account knock-out stages + higher negotiating power for transfers. Qualifying fo the CL or not will drive our transfer market and shape our team.

I am skeptical about playing Kante given the current circumstances: He's back from injury, hasn't player for a while, and might lack motivation or won't risk another injury since he is likely to leave the club any way this summer.

Why not Areola? He is available for 20 million Euros, around 16 £ million. Proved and experienced;

He couldn't do much yesterday. Except maybe on the free kick, when he is was too far from his line. A world-class GK could have saved that one or at least try, instead he was completely static. And we bought him for a price that commands world-class ratings. It is not the case. A mitigating factor is his defense and mid-field, Rudiger was again absolutely nowhere yesterday, Jorginho unable to clear a corner, leading to another goal, Kovavic again making idiotic faults leading to free-kicks in dangerous areas, and Alonso that cannot defend.

Pulisic is pure magic. His assist and goal of yesterday against Liverpool reminds me of Messi, Hazard, or Ronaldo. And the guy is only 21. @American fellows, is Pulisic making his name in the USA? I understand that football/soccer is not as much popular in the US as in Europe, but here we are talking about one of the most talented, if not the most talented American player you ever had, playing in a top European club in the most competitive league. A Golden boy. I just hope his career won't be plagued with injuries. That's also likely the reason Lampard does not want to play him for 90 minutes unless he is totally fit.

Our mid-field is not good enough. Jorginho does not bring much, I would sell him. Barkley is OK as a squad player. Kovacic is a starter definitely but he does not score goals and does not provide assist. Samee for Kante. RBC can break the lines, but he is subject to injuries. Kai is that kind of attacking mid-fielder we need to play alongside Kovacic/RBC/ Kante. Regarding our defense, I agree that we need a CB, LB, and GK. I have had enough of Rudiger. He was just destroyed by Mo Salah yesterday. Alonso cannot defend and cannot make a decent cross. We can keep Kepa and buy Alphonse Areola, he is available for less than 20 million and just bought a house in London by the way.

What's going on with Kanté? He is injured most of the time.
