You are saying this in hindsight, but with Lukaku it was predictable.
-
We sold Morata to Alti with most of the money recouped, Sheva flopped but his failure was not predicted. Most importantly my argument is based on how Lukaku was bad signing from beginning not in hindsight. Man U already made the mistake of signing him, few years later we reinforced the argument yeah he is not cut out for a top side in England.

Or given Abraham an opportunity, worst case scenario Tammy still will work hard without the ball and does not completely mess up your system. You are not 115m poorer and still peruse the big fish next summer. Lukaku is the worst Chelsea signing ever, mainly because it was very predictable.
-
Honestly I am tired of signing average players for the sake of buying, this squad is full of them. Wait until the summers buy quality. Tuchel needs to get his shit together, there is no rule that he has to play Alonso and Azpi. That is on him, he doesn’t need to play 3-4-3. If he is stupid enough to persist without the players that is on him and I can’t wait until he is sacked.
-
It didn’t work because of other reasons.
-
Easy, play all 3. That is what a good manager does. I think all 3 are one of our best players, easy decision when you have Sarr and Alonso in the starting lineup.
-
It says a lot about Tuchel how he has squeezed so much out of Rudigar, Silva, AC, Chalobah, Azpi(LCB), etc. heck what he has done with Sarr is quite amazing, he was struggling in Portugal and couldn’t get minutes there, and Tuchel has made him serviceable, on the flip side he has done terrible job with our attackers, his system is very much at fault. Our attackers are way too isolated and left without options, let’s compare that to City. Where they have LB/RB overlapping and Bernardo and KDB through midfield.
-
Disagree, the way Chillwill and Reece were scoring was not sustainable. Their goals were a big reason for our good start. I disliked the Lukaku signing as much as anyone, and no doubt we are better without him but forward plays continue to be a big challenge with or without him.
-
I see people consistently shitting on every attacking player, but at point does Tuchel get blame for it? I just have a hard time believing out of Havertz, Pulisic, Werner, Ziyech, Mount, CHO, etc you can get even one solid reliable contributor.
-
No I tend to think most people are predictable, but starting Sarr against City is another level.
-
It says a lot about Tuchel that he would rather play Sarr, a player who couldn’t even cut it in Portugal then trying something other than his 3-4-3. City beats a lot of teams before the match even starts.
-
Nah with the same exact team, Pep would do much better with this Chelsea side. Tuchel problem is he is lacking from an attacking standpoint, you may say his players aren’t good but no doubt in my mind they would perform higher with Pep. Tuchel hasn't coached a cohesive attacking side since his Dortmund days. PSG fans were frustrated with him, because they just gave Neymar and Mbappe create something.
-
The difference is Pep and Tuchel, if role were reversed who would be higher on the table?
-
Oh Shut up. Watching this game is absolute misery.
-
Pep is a class above Tuchel as team building goes.
-
Yeah we have a massively expensive squad, and we are playing Sarr. For all the talk of how much City spent, they are utilizing it very well. Lukaku, Werner, Havertz, Pulisic, and Ziyech how much have we spent on them? Feels so depressing how poorly we have done.
-
With that lineup I will be extremely shocked.
-
I think I read Kennedy will go out on loan again, he won’t be part of the squad.
-
You kinda see it why Kepa distribution ability is so important, it allows us to transition the ball from defense to attack so fast and spuds press can’t there fast enough.
-
Unless we play with 3 man midfield on a regular basis which we should.
-
I am actually looking forward to seeing Kepa, Mendy is no doubt a better shot stopper, but Mendy has his own weakness that being his distribution, ability on the ball, bypassing the press. When Mendy is the GK he needs his passing options to be near him, which makes it easier for the opposition to contain, in contrast when Kepa is the keeper everyone is more spread out.
-
So before Jorginho was introduced were you blind to the fact Liverpool was cutting through the middle and making runs through midfield.
-
put another damn midfielder in the game.
-
I highly doubt it. Look I remember not being a fan of the Torres signing; I recall my thinking was he was injury prone and that there was a better st in Kun Auguro. But Torres career at Chelsea was worst case scenario.
-
Lukaku is a worse signing than Torres, in hindsight Torres was an epic failure but given the circumstances you could understand at the time. I don’t think anyone could have predicted how bad signing Torres turned out to be. But with Lukaku it was quite clear, in fact Man United already proved that, they made that mistake just a couple years ago. Which is why this is so comical that we didn’t learn that mistake given the evidence.
