These pundits never fail to amaze me. So David Luiz is not a Conte type of defender, but Cahill is? How come? But since he is a foreigner of course "he can't defend". I used to say that DM was the best of the three positions Nathan offered. These days that's no longer true because CB seems to have dropped off Nat's slate all together. He's done far better at left back than I thought he would but I still say DM is the place for him. Absolutely thrilled that  Eddie Howe seems  to agree about that.

Exactly. And since that isn't happening, I can only hope these are mere rumours. The stupidity of this potential move (Diego out, Morata in) is actually riling me up. Chelsea aren't in a position for a cute experiment like this, placing such faith in young and unproven strikers. Finishing outside the top 4 again could turn out to be catastrophic.
Costa is the only, literally the only, consistent source of goals in the entire team. If you sell him, you better bring in someone who is better or at least as good. Selling Costa for 40 mil and buying Morata for 50 mil would be a joke as well.
Go fix areas that acutally need fixing and leave the striker situation as it is (for now).

The only thing I can see this loan being useful for is re-accustoming himself to central midfield. It's the place where he's most likely to ever get game time here.

How is he backtracking? In that initial interview they ask him, if he would like to come back to Barcelona. He answered that he would like to come back ONE DAY, because he would like to retire at Barca. He never said that he wants to leave Chelsea this summer.

To be honest Mark Noble or a 'rich man's Henderson' would be a pretty good result actually. Noble never underperforms for West Ham, and as much as it annoys me, when I see Henderson for England I can see glimpses of talent - if Baker could pull off the passes that Henderson often tries and over hits, he could be quality for us.

Who knows? We'll only find out if we put some faith in him.
If Chelsea hasn't changed though we'll end up with average players that deny either of them team chances.

His apparent connection with Baker should be exploited imo. Bring them both back.

Actually that decision was partially correct; Mata has done nothing in his time at Man Utd to justify staying here - it's just a pity his replacement never stepped up.
