IDK, playing under Mourinho is a whole different thing... Ozil struggled a lot even in a less physical league with Mourinho's tactics. So, Mourinho put him on the right side towards the end of his tenure, so Ozil wouldn't have to press that much and Mourinho wouldn't go Hazard on him. However, Mourinho started to bench Ozil quite a bit as well towards the end...
I think epl he can get his stats and do well individually and for the team. However, under Mourinho, I'm not sure he can last a full season in england.
Yes, the top level teams have good technical players, but not most teams. Go to La Liga and everyone in the league has technical players from top to bottom. You would think if the EPL was such a technical league that their national team would be as well...
I don't get this notion with needing space.. Unless, your Messi, everyone needs space... Especially, since in England, they play so compact in the middle. Mata needed space, Silva needs space, Ozil needs space, etc...
Costa might not have Zlatan technique, Henry speed, Messi's agility or Adriano's rocket shot, but he strikes fear to the opposing CBs, which would allow the others to flourish. We've been missing that for years... (that includes Drogba twilight years at Chelsea). I don't think we should expect him to be prolific, but moreso hardworking and strong. Good transfer at a good price. My only concern with him is how many cards/suspensions will follow...
Locker room leaders are very important. JT, Lampard, Cole, Cech are all on their last legs, than what? I'm not a Luiz fan, because I'v already stated multiple times how I think he's overrated at Chelsea. However, Luiz is the link imo in the locker room and the leader to the young brazilians. Losing him is more than just losing a backup player...
Losing Luiz is more than just losing just our 3rd cb/cm. Losing Luiz means losing our best locker room person, the connection between the foreigners and English, the leader of Brazilian Chelsea. Their definitely a stronger chance Oscar leaves if Luiz is dealt to Barcelona/PSG.
Tottenham only drop one spot and one game loss from last season with Bale... That's not that bad, granted the better teams in the epl all improved (except United). Next season, I expect only City/Arsenal to challenge us and pending on United managerial appointment/signings.
