  1. City away to Arsenal next, whilst we have Swansea at home... How amazing would it be to go to the Etihad 6 points clear of City?
  2. Bit off topic, but I just want to say how nice it was to hear our fans sing the Super Frank song hope he was watching and heard, want him to know that we'll always love him no matter what!
  3. Don't want to get too carried away but just think if we win today, and then City have Arsenal away after the internationals, whereas we have Swansea at home. We could, albeit a small chance of it happening, go to the Etihad being 6 points clear of them. Come on Chelsea!
  4. The Xabi Alonso to Bayern deal is so random and unexpected. Saw someone tweet this, it's actually true: "The so-called Mourinho's camp all sidelined/sold by Real. Lopez, Arbeloa, Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Di Maria, Higuain. Casillas running things. Only Varane and Modric left" Just a shame for Real that Casillas isn't actually top class anymore seems to make so many errors nowadays.
  5. I'm probably forgetting someone really obvious but it feels like we haven't had an Italian player in our squad for ages!
  6. How, just how are Arsenal still in Pot 1? Last four seasons it's been last 16 & out for them. Also, am I the only one who never seems to see Porto in the knockout stages? Yet they always seem to be in pot 1 as well, haha
  7. What do people think of this transfer for Real Madrid? I think them replacing Di Maria with Rodriguez leaves them worse off. Let's be honest, they only bought James because of him having a good World Cup.
  8. So Di Maria once said Jose is the best coach he has played for. It's a shame that we have too many players in his position now, otherwise maybe we would have been in for him. Having said that, even if he is going to United, it'll be quite good watching him in this league and seeing how well he does. And after all, I would still much much rather that United finished in the top four, instead of Arsenal and Liverpool.
  9. Okay I know a lot of people think it was an average performance... but surely that makes it even better that we won? I mean, just imagine when we're playing good! Hasn't that been one of the reasons United did so well over the years - somehow being able to win games even when playing average?
  10. Did anyone watch the Spanish Super Cup second leg? I'm glad Atletico won (beat Real 2-1 on aggregate) - I think they can definitely still compete this season despite losing key players. Simeone is a great manager. With Real Madrid, they definitely spend too much on attacking players -their defence was all over the place on several occasions. Think they'll be in trouble when they come up against other top teams this season.
  11. So, IF the rumours about Real Madrid wanting Cech are true... The main reason Jose left Madrid was due to the whole Casillas situation. A year later, Real come to Jose asking him to sell Cech to them to replace Casillas. Anyone else see the irony? Looks like Real have finally realised Jose was right - Casillas hasn't been that great for ages.
  12. Really important that we win this game, even though it's only the 2nd game, but later on in the weekend is Everton v Arsenal and City v Liverpool, so a few dropped points there for our rivals. Gaining momentum early on could be a big boost! I also hope we have more high scoring wins this season, as goal difference could be crucial - like in 2011/12, and last season it also would have been the deciding factor had it not been for Liverpool drawing 3-3 with Palace (whilst chasing goal difference!)
  13. Don't understand why we didn't go for Higuain/Benzema when Jose joined from Madrid last summer... Don't think he fell out with those two.
  14. I know the Bridge is quiet a lot of the time...but that was Burnley's first home game back in the Premier League for four years. I was expecting their fans to sing non stop and create a hostile atmosphere for us.
  15. A goal or two by Fabregas would be great.... just imagine Piers Morgan's reaction on Twitter
  16. Obviously I would take a 1-0 win, but I'd love for us to win comfortably and send out a message, seeing as Arsenal, Liverpool and City only just scraped wins. Anyone know much about the Burnley squad?
  17. yep, I'm in the minority here probably but I actually don't have too much of a problem with united fans. City on the other hand.. Well just take a look at Bluemoon - predictions of them walking the league after one game, winning a treble, dominating Europe etc. Haha. I'm glad on this forum that we're all realistic alongside optimistic.
  18. Of course not, Pellegrini is a good manager but nowhere near Mourinho. Just compare trophies won
  19. Fully agree with this, I like Dzeko and think he is underrated, would love him here but obviously City would never sell. Do you have anyone else in mind who we could get?
  20. Saw a City fan say they have a better manager than us. Speechless tbh, haha.
  21. Anyone who used to watch Jose's Madrid team a lot, can you remember how he dealt with having two good strikers then (Benzema & Higuain)? Did he rotate them regularly or ever play them both or..?
  22. I really like Griezmann so I'm glad he isn't going to one of our rivals. I quite like Atletico so I hope he does well there. Also another plus point is, if he becomes a top class player and there is a chance we could buy him in 3/4 years, at least we wouldn't face much competition from Real Madrid or Barcelona as I doubt Atletico would sell to them.
  23. ^^ yeah I saw that also. I hope he doesn't go to Tottenham! http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/premierleague/article4154072.ece Is The Times reliable? It says we have watched Griezmann but haven't followed up our interest
  24. I've finally realised why Mourinho is after so many Atletico players... He still has a soft spot for Real Madrid, so he wants to weaken their rivals haha
  25. https://mobile.twitter.com/ChelsTransfer/status/491000446538878977?p=v Jose Callejon saying that we want him but he will stay at Napoli. Shame really as I've always liked him and would love him here.
