  1. Do the people who draw those lines always follow the rules of perspective geometry ?
  2. Can't be. If he was a deep centre forward or someone in Didier's role you might expect from him, even under the conditions relating to the rest of the team. Hazard is essentially a forward-playmaker.
  3. I don't understand the venom against Hazard that has developed of late. He is the only one who plays football. The number one useless is Diego Costa I 'm afraid. He plays with his shins. I know he is immensely popular but so were the others, Iva, Andre Schurle and David Luiz before the silly rantings he made last year in Paris. Back in the seventies - eighties it was understandable. No talent - no money and before that the European team sold out in one go (Cook-Hudson-Ossie). This is phenomenal. So what is left, if for the sake of argument we also accept the anti-Hazard talk as having any validity ? The turnstiles are left and the grass lawns outside our stadium. More pertinent to the issue is how you go about rebuilding a side after that ? Suppose you are left with a team made up of part time bus ticket collectors, fishermen, other amateurs but you have the economic means to remake it. I think it takes 2 to 3 years.
  4. Dortmund sold Levandowski. Any other reasons for those rapid declines ? MU 13-14 was also one such - in their case there were many aging players I think.
  5. I have never seen this kind of slump before really, to be honest. Has anybody else seen it, around Europe, and what precisely reasons were given ? I have seen champions going down the year after their success. Usually because they sell but for other reasons as well. Not like this however, not total collapse. The Greeks in the forum are likely to remember Olympiakos Piraeus of 1987-88 who were champions of 1986-87. They did sell their top striker Nico Anastopoulos to Avellino but the side was otherwise kept intact and they bought the Jugoslavian midfielder Sestic. Yet they were very very bad, losing to all and sundry up to around February. That situation looks like Chelsea's. We need to identify the issues and European experience in my opinion will help.
  6. Never seen anything like it really. Only the season we relegated. The only useful thing back then was Hutchinson's throws. History repeats itself (but in those days at least Brian Mears said to us "folks we are broke"). I will talk only about the first half. 1-0 down but with 11 men. It looked as if we needed 10 hours of play to score a goal. Defense, with the exception of Begovitch, non existent.
  7. We should welcome Dynamo at the Bridge because it's not their fault.
  8. They were Dynamo supporters as well ! It has to do with communist rule in old Ukraine. It's a dangerous thing. When communists dominate the tyrannized people tend to become nazi. When nazis dominate the tyrannized people tend to become communist. Usually it does n't work 100% that way in the end, but it's like living in a minefield.
  9. I used to live part of the time in Greece and part of the time in England. In UK Tory government, in GR socialist government. So I had two appalling governments on top of my had at the same time. Beat that.
  10. That was Dynamo Kiyv against Chelsea. Not Dynamo Kiyv against PAOK Salonika.
  11. Moan time. Drab affair. The Ukrainians might have scored one if the teams were still playing. Against such teams we used to be home and dry well before half time. Well, unless we hit the cross bar some 25 times or some such mishaps occured. Buildup ? Towards the end way three of our players started a good looking move down the right flank then all three of them dimmed all of sudden. In the end the ball goes to Zouma who fouls his opponent. Do you realize that half of our goals have been from direct free kicks ? Willian's trick shots. Plus Villa's give away against on Sat. That makes things look even less good.
  12. Non event. Maybe Dynamo Kiyv is something more of a challenge.
  13. I went to the hospital one day to see my doctor and there was an otolaryngology specialist in the next room, wow man ! The Hippocrateion.
  14. Chelsea's hallmark was always speed and skills. Pool of the 70s-80s kicked the ball high in the air, but finding the net. So it was a case of morris dancers but good morris dancers. Other British teams have their own characteristic flavours. This team is slow, since last year, including the early spell with the 9 consecutive wins. Sooner or later that was bound to create problems.
  15. It's not only the 1-3 result. I mean this could happen. Last year for ex. 3-5 to Spurs, but we did play football and it was their lucky day, they were finding the gaps and kept scoring. The performance was d-i-s-m-a-l. Was it Chelsea or some semi amateur team from Eastern Europe ? Some players are slower than the barges in the Thames. That's the problem. (*) Untited saw it fit to emulate Chelsea yesterday against the gooners - timid - lost from the dressing room
  16. There is no fix. I saw the writing on the wall - age. Bearing in mind the costs I called for a moderate enhancement and see where that takes us. It did n't happen. Falcao was an experiment and Pedro too little too late. Like everyone else I did not expect a sudden collapse but that's what we are witnessing now. We just have to go back to the drawing board. That probably means a team with even lesser capabilities than the one we have now, but will be a team with a future. Mou could indeed be the man in charge of the new operations. There is no real reason why not, but he has to come to terms with his new task, like the rest of us.
  17. Ha ! Frank O' Farrel year also. UTD enjoyed the highest attendances despite the relegation. Also they named a horse Frank O' Farrel in the races I remember. I agree with you but I also hate the supremos. They never say to you "folks, we are moving into some difficulties", only after the event. What they say early on is "this year we win the intercontinental". I just hate hype.
  18. In 13-14 we played real football when we played and some lack of persistence gave the title to City. In 14-15 we won the league, out of the CL a bit earlier, but we played crap - except for the early months Aug. to Jan. Also there was no opposition. This year is best not talked about. Looks like the worst season ever, like late seventies. But in the late seventies there was a huge economic problem and everyone knew of it. David Hay was the only player we signed -from Celtic- and the program in the stadium wrote "guys, those were our last pennies". All that means to me Jose is maybe a good tactician but an amateur strategist. Name one good transfer move in or out, with the possible exception of Diego Costa. Saleh back to Italy, Cuadrado back to Italy, Cesc a little contribution last season. Then Luiz to PSG ? Schurle ? Did it help ?
  19. Never mind the pts. We are barely good enough to finish top 4000th.
  20. Top 4 13 times in the last 15 years. This time we relegate. It's just not normal. Was everyone hoodwinked ? Has the team been abandoned ? Something else ?
  21. Bunker speech. He oughta answer this: In what sport are those players in blue competing ?
