  1. Or we wind up with someone on relatively high wages who we have difficulty trying to shift in a year or two, just as United have discovered. It's concerning that this deal appears to be significantly more likely to go through in the coming hours than Osimhen.
  2. When I heard Hermoso was a free agent a number of weeks ago, I thought he'd be a perfect signing for a few years. I'm just unsure this board will even give players 28+ a look. A really stupid mindset. It only made sense to me if Sterling was going the other way. That clearly isn't this case, so is Shields driving this deal because of his connection with the player?
  3. We shouldn't be talking about ifs and buts, as you've previously alluded to. We lost to a notably inferior side and limped over the line to qualify, as the agg scoreline shows. It will be interesting to see the reasoning were a team from Armenia to do the same in a few months time. Distance, players being too far away from home, and so forth.
  4. I had a similar discussion with someone after the first leg. No one here is crying out for Enzo to be sacked, which would go with their narrative. We played a side that we should be beating, with all due respect, quite comfortably. On another day, we could be talking about us failing to even qualify for the "mickey mouse cup," etc.
  5. I'm not blaming him for that. However, he does have part of play (just look at the first goal we conceded tonight) where the lack of defensive organisation is concerned. In a perfect scenario, he would be sold since there is no position where I can see him excelling or at least doing so at the cost of players with more talent.
  6. Sign one, full stop. Enzo isn't captain material in the slightest.
  7. Palmer should have just passed it to Jackson. It's a sad sight to see us hanging onto a one goal lead on agg. Tosin cost nothing. KDH, on the other hand.... A signing to keep the manager sweet, if I've ever seen one. As someone else mentioned, it's like Drinkwater all over again.
  8. It's hard watching us "try" to defend. The French chuckle brothers are something else.
  9. He did well in the first leg, especially when he bailed out Gusto.
  10. I didn't edit or delete anything. 😐 You better get that memory sorted out along with the snarky remarks.
  11. I'd suggest you research the definition of an "opinion." They can't be RIGHT or WRONG. While you're at it, please point to the part where I stated anything as being a fact. All I did was state a number of players who rejected lucrative contract offers to remain in Europe & fight for honours. Of course, whilst you're on your high horse, you can talk to those individuals about their "fan fantasies."
  12. That's your opinion. Not so for Alisson, Ederson, Son, or Salah, to mention a few.
  13. It all depends on what he really wants out of his career. If he truly believes in himself, Saudi clubs will continue to show interest down the line should he succeed. A number of players in the EPL have immediately turned down such offers because they realise money is secondary to success.
  14. That's amazing value. He mightn't be the same player who originally joined Juve, but I still believe this could be one of the signings of the summer. It's also clear that Liverpool's owners don't want to be making any big money signings, which can only be a plus for us where CL places are concerned.
  15. His performances at this year's AFCON showcased that perfectly. He didn't score despite his efforts, but he helped others flourish by being a really nuisance, especially aerially.
  16. If Osimhen finally happens, I feel our CF issues will finally be addressed. There's still a few more days to go, so anything could happen.
  17. He needs guaranteed playing time more than anything. Brighton aren't exactly stacked at LW, but he wouldn't be a starter for them. Chelsea have a problem with loaning players without having reassurance about playing time (Broja's bonus payout isn't the right way to go about it).
  18. Signing Toney because his "wage" fits our structure. I can't stand seeing that line with each & every rumour.
  19. I can't take these Twitter rumours seriously. One person says something, & others just run with it. Osimhen's next move will say everything about him (provided we actually make a bid). If that doesn't materialise, I'd stay clear of any substantial investment. It's a real shame someone like Giroud isn't just there waiting to be signing for a season or two.
  20. I'm personally not a fan of Sancho at all & see no point in signing him. However, if it is the only way to enable Sterling's departure, then so be it. I think he's just dying to get out of Napoli considering Conte wants nothing to do with him. If earnings are his primary motivator, he clearly has the wrong priorities and people around him. I still think he'll join us at the last minute, provided Sterling and Lukaku have already departed.
  21. He's looking like a real gem amongst the billions we've spent on unknowns.
  22. We just have to play on the attack & hope we take our chances. Otherwise, we'll either gift Wolves the win or the ref will.
  23. Jackson with his head up. Palmer makes it look easy.
  24. His overall performance has been dire. You can't blame Enzo for failing to do the basics.
