I totally agree with you! What seems like a pointless signing at best, always turns out to be a useful one! Trouble is, Benayoun hardly played a majority of the season because he was out injured. Benayoun is injury prone, so is Parker!

Essien keeps getting the same injuries and keeps being out for a lengthy period of time, so from that alone, if he keeps it up, he could have no choice but to hang up his boots. Marc Overmars had a similar case I seem to remember

De Rossi is not a bit-part player, that's why I turn my nose up at the idea of him joining. Ramires and Mikel already do a fine job replacing Essien. Ramires has the speed, Mikel has the strength.

I honestly don't believe this to be a good signing for us. For all it's worth, if Boas is looking to add flair to our squad, then Modric (should he join) and De Rossi wouldn't be able to fit into the same midfield. Hell Modric would be pushing out Mikel in our current squad, and Mikel is 24!
