  1. Based on this he is a very ordinary player. Can't see any reason for any interest from Chelsea.
  2. I don't think there is anything special about the pass in the video. Though it baffles me why every professional footballer is not confidently two-footed, it's a fact that some left-footed players would not want to take on that pass. I would expect every right-footed pro to see it, and make it, however. It's easy to see, there is no pressure on the ball and there is plenty of space to play it into. Well done Billy for getting it done but this is one of those situations where I would criticise a player if he didn't see and make that pass, rather than praise him because he did.
  3. Not sure if Magic Lamps knows but I certainly don't. What I can say, is that the way you break it down here would all be pretty logical. Different people in the organisation each have slightly differing views informed by slightly differing responsibilities but can see each other's perspectives and ultimately accede to the manager's fears that the season will go down the tubes if they don't pull the trigger.
  4. Frank had the sense not to oppose the advice of those two. In fact he enthusiastically embraced it. We do not know for sure how the responsibility for transfers breaks down inside the club so we do not know whether Frank would have been able to veto the move for Edu even if he had wanted to. The tale which emerged is that Frank identified the need for a new keeper, which is clear enough from his selections, and that he gave the task of identifying the target to Petr who then involved Christoph. That all sounds exactly the right way to go about things. What we do know is that if Frank did not support the signing he could simply have selected a different keeper but he immediately installed Edu as the starter. There are many facets to leadership. How, when, and to whom to delegate is among them. Knowing which decisions to make yourself, and in which you should defer to others, is high on the list. Frank handled this correctly and should be praised for it.
  5. No, but I did see a goals package on YouTube in which he was described as the outstanding player on the pitch.
  6. First I must admit that I haven't watched him since we were originally linked with him a few seasons ago. At that time however my feeling was that the best of his game was his power. His football finesse seemed lacking to me.
  7. According to an agent representing Milan or the player more like.
  8. When Tottenham were on their good run and looking strong, someone got worried and posted to say things were getting scary and that they might actually win it. I replied that there was nothing to worry about because Liverpool were going to win the league. Well, Liverpool have hardly won a game since and I'm taking the credit of course. I clearly jinxed them. Never since 2012 have I been so happy to be so spectacularly wrong.
  9. I've always liked him but, to be fair, City fans didn't believe in him, he didn't get many starts and City have now let him go twice so there is a lot of evidence against the idea of bringing him back to the Premier League.
  10. Of course not. That's not how offside works. The key moment for offside decisions is the positions of the players at the moment the ball was last touched by a teammate. The goal stood because that last touch came from an Atleti player, not Mason Mount. The last time a Chelsea player (Mount) touched, Giroud was onside. Had Mason got a touch in that challenge the goal would have been ruled out.
  11. I avoided the Lampard thread because of the behaviour I saw there. Looks like this comment is a lucky choice for my first post to read here because it's big clue about the best way to treat this thread too.
  12. That's what I understood you to be saying although it is in fact exactly the opposite of what you did say.
  13. Interesting. Why not Timo with the spot kick? A foal's a goal but there is a message in the choice of Mason to take the spot kick.
  14. There's another potential confusion here but I know what you meant and everyone else probably will too.
  15. I haven't offered an opinion on the players so you can't make any assessment on my view from that post. I have written on Mason numerous times previously.
  16. He should have been sold before the start of last season. Not because he's bad but because we've seen over and over again that our squad doesn't support a really effective set up with him in the side, and because summer 2019 was the time to maximise his market value.
  17. I sometimes feel the word 'better' isn't enough to transmit the whole story. I often prefer to talk about player A being more 'talented' than player B, or about player A being more 'effective' than player B. Talent speaks of a player's technical quality, of what he can do. Effectiveness speaks about what he actually does. If we could get an honest public comment from TT I wonder if he would say that he agrees Hakim is more talented but that he believes Mason will be more effective overall. I'm not saying that is my opinion but there is a reason why TT is preferring Mason and I wonder if that might be it.
  18. Well we won. Nothing else to be said about this.
  19. Football eh? West Ham must be in shock at this score line.
  20. I'm watching on Sky Mobile but your stream is a good 30 seconds ahead of mine. In fact my notifications hadn't even triggered and they normally beat the stream.
  21. Based on how we feel about this, and on how Arsenal fans are feeling about their team at the moment, there's a fair chance the ground would be far from full on Saturday, covid or no covid.
  22. Tammy would be better than any of those three but if we really need to fill the RWB slot I'd go with Tino Livramento.
