Diego Rolling-on-the-floor-bitching Costa. We need another striker who can score.
-
I get the feeling that Chelsea will buy two specific players this summer window if the right people can be bought: a left-sided CM -and- a better playmaking LWB with speed. It seems that most of our CMs prefer being on the right, except Matic and maybe Fabregas, who, it would seem doesn't care either way. So, we need more pace in both the LWB and the LCM --badly, going into another season with more competitions on the horizon (CL, PL, etc.) Otherwise, we need another goalscorer up top pretty badly and if Diego goes somewhere, then it's TWO we need up top. Don't know about CB as we're surely going to use Christensen because it's clear that he's ready and we need to not piss around with him and his potential. IMO, we will be looking for a CB in addition to Christensen returning because we need more height and power instead of Dave playing CB all the time. Hard to say what will happen with Zouma, but Christensen is a better choice for a starter IMHO. So, to summarize: 1 LWB, 1 LCM (both with more pace and playmaking ability), 1, maybe 2 attackers up top, and one CB in addition to Christensen returning. That's 4 or 5 players, depending upon Diego, but 4 definitely. Is this a concensus here, or do we have disagreements? **edit: additionally, it looks to me that RLC is a loan candidate for next season and I don't imagine Ake gets a top spot among next season's CB cadre. Chalobah likely to remain a decent backup to Kante, right side CM. No clue on Musonda and Kenedy.

How pleasing to see our CMs do such a superb job. One of the better performances since the Lampard-Makelele times. Lampard was present for the match; I wonder if Makelele (and Ballack) were there too.

2017 Diego Costa? Not impressive at all.
-
I just hope the rumours are true on Chelsea getting a very early start on the transfers for summer. Early work is desperately needed in this crazy club football marketplace! Give Conte what he wants and make Chelsea better from wing backs to CM, to FWD line as quickly as possible!
-
I still feel like his jumping will get him into further injury trouble regardless of whether he becomes more comfortable on the ball or more comfortable in a particular system.
-
I like this player and I say "buy," but in reality, he might not be the kind of player Chelsea should buy. I'm just hoping that Chelsea get a solid CM and a wingback or two, then a another FWD. Dahoud has been a good player when I've seen him, but admittedly I've not watched enough of any continental football to know who the best choices are. Probably better to believe the guys here who've apparently been watching Monaco, Lyon, Fiorentina, Benfica, etc. etc.

buy buy buy

He's what we have for now, but he's not really ideal. I don't care if he stays or goes, but he's done well this season before January-Feb., which was probably more than I was expecting after his 1st two seasons in London. He's up one level this season, but it doesn't make him a great striker for us. Who the fuck was looking for a striker "for years?" Surely we're not talking about going back to the month CFC stupidly paid 50 mil for a hamstrung F. Torres.

We should find the next Drogba.
-
Yeah, I'm wondering where these goals are coming from to win the title. Maybe he needs a radiator but I'm not sure it's just the weather. Been cold for weeks (not just the weather).

I'm not really a Lukaku fan, but I would have him back just because there are very few capable CFs out there in the world, Lukaku's still young and he knows how to play well enough in the PL. I doubt Diego is staying. Anyway, I find it difficult to trust Diego at all. Lukaku would be 100% committed to our club.
-
not happening IMO, but I like the comment.
-
The next 5 fixtures look like banana skins esp. if Costa doesn't get back on his game. Tottenham are still a threat IMO --until Diego or the striker we use looks sharper and bags some goals.
-
What is wrong with Diego? Doesn't seem like the same player as weeks ago. Time for more Bats maybe. Courtois MotM. Good game from Matic, Hazard, Kante and Pedro.
-
excellent point.
-
Alonso is Alonso, Matic is Matic and Diego has a crap game with his positioning and dawdling. Not much to watch.
-
Robbie Brady to Burnley for 16 mil. Good buy.
-
would be nice to make a bid for Alexis Sanchez today... and try something different in LWB and CM --someday.
-
seems 3-5-2 is a good option many times this season, but it hasn't happened. The forwards aren't linking up enough, but, again the pressure comes from having poor interplay between Alonso, CM and FWDs. Diego could do more sometimes, but who is going to receive the ball after he gets it? Even 4-3-3 would work better if we stuck Fabregas on. I'm surprised Ake wasn't on the bench.
-
Candreva just to give depth? Why not just put in a bid of 47 million for A. Sanchez?
-
Looks like a clever and skilled player with a slight build but very good eyes/awareness. We probably need more like him. Those small lobbed passes from him are worth gold these days.
-
putting aside whether or not this rumor is backed by some reality of dealing/inquiries/bids, I would just say that the football world is crazy right now with the money being spent combined with a dearth of proven talent for top tier clubs. I wouldn't complain about it because some of us here still see Willian as someone to replace when the right moment arises. Dembele looks like a genuine goalscorer.
-
I think Dembele would be for depth at RF/RW immediately and possible 3rd striker long-term.
