So FC Basel are here - The team has landed in London for the game tomorrow evening against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge. #cfcfcb

FC Basel was founded in November 1893. Our home stadium is the Saint Jakob Park. The stadium was built in 2001 and replaced the Saint Jakob Stadium which itself was build for the 1954 World Cup. St. Jakob Park holds 38,000 people and is the biggest in Switzerland . It also hosted the 2008 EURO and is nominated for the 2020 EURO. Basel is a football crazy city and the whole city stands behind this club. We have won the Swiss Championship 16 times and have won it the past 4 seasons. Our greatest international successes are the top 16 round in 2012 against Bayern Munich, the semi finals in the Europa League last season against you guys and a quarter final appearance of the old Champions League in 1974 which we lost against Celtic 5-6 on agg. Basel has a lot of good players, such as Schär, Diaz, Sommer, and Serey Die, though the most noticeable players are Stocker, Salah and Streller. Stocker is our left winger, a great midfielder. aged 24 and a Swiss national team player. Last season he created the most assists and even scored 8 in the Swiss league . He even scored against Tottenham as an example . He drives our game. Salah is an Egyptian youth talent, who also was voted as the best youth talent in Africa in 2012. He’s our right winger, very quick and agile, probably one of the fastest players playing in Europe at the moment. His biggest weakness at the moment is how he acts in front of goal. Often his shots are misplaced and don’t hit the target, this has been slightly improving though. The third key player is Streller, he’s one of the member's of the old guard and also our captain. His key features are his height and intelligence in knowing where to be at the right moment (1-0 goal against Man Utd. 2011 as an example). Last season he was our top scorer. Though with our new striker Sio we have gained another great striker who can be played as a striker but also as a midfielder. He’s versatile enough play on the wings or in central midfield . Mattias Delgado on the other hand, returns to the Swiss champions. He played with us from 2003-2006 and was one of the best players ever to play in Switzerland. He then went to Besiktas in Istanbul and became the captain of the team and was one of the best players in the Turkish league during his time there. After three years in Dubai he has now returned to his “home” and is willing to show his best whenever he plays, Though at the moment he isn't really on top form, but most fans are sure this will get better in the next few months. Basel's previous lineup Basel always oversleeps in the beginning of the season. Often we play bad and lose a lot of points compared to the leaders in our league. We had seasons where we were 15 points behind after 15 games and we get better later in season. Normally our first Champions League / Europa League game is our worst one (Galati in 2011, Cluj in 2010 thank god we aren’t playing Steaua in the first round ). At the moment one of the biggest weaknesses of Basel is this oversleeping. We often start a game with a lot of pressure and we get that crucial first goal in, but then stop to play and have too often conceded another goal or two, due to which we end up losing or drawing the game. This season we went into the lead in every game in the league except for the last round against BSC Young Boys. We still won the game though, thanks to a great effort from all the players and two great goals in 2 minutes. Biggest strength of us is that we have exceed expectations in European games against the top European clubs. In the past few years, Manchester United, Tottenham, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Bayern Munich all had problems in at least one game against us. We are definitely better in home games though. This is why I doubt we will oversleep, we normally play our best in such games. Basel hasn’t won a game on the British Isle in decades, draws were the best results. Most fans are hoping for a point at Stamford Bridge but know that this isn’t a game we have to win or even get a point. We see Schalke and Steaua as our biggest threat and rivals for the 2nd and 3rd place in this group. All the best for tomorrow and in the Premier League this year. If there are any more questions don't hesitate to tweet to me Kind regards Chris WachtlerTwitter at : @FCBasel_English A huge thank you to Chris for giving us a good summary on FC Basel and what we can expect from them. Good luck to you guys in the Swiss League as well and come wednesday, may the best team win ! Click here to view article.

I really hope that the member is not me, cause I've said quite a few times that it is collective mistakes that led to the goal. -
Analyzing Everton's goal - How it went completely berserk

This I'll partly agree with. There is a little element of doubt involved in whether Luiz was sure or not about Schurrle's positioning and intentions, the latter which can be predicted only by a psychic. but the bottom line is, he shouldn't have moved. In a situation such as that, it is very hard to decide what to do, unfortunately Luiz took the wrong one because in that split second he couldn't jog back his memory to when Jose was discussing defensive lines, set piece positioning's etc. Trust me, I've been there. For me he's a terrific defender, and I have a feeling people think I dislike him. He's one of the most technically gifted center-backs in the world and I'm 110% behind him. But he made a mistake as did others and they will be pointed out. This in no way should be something demeaning to them, but more like a reminder that they have to learn. -
18.08 No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season, two of whom must be goalkeepers. As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for “locally trained players” and no club may have more than four “association-trained players” listed on these eight places on List A. List A must specify the players who qualify as being “locally trained”, as well as whether they are “club-trained” or “association-trained”. The possible combinations that enable clubs to comply with the List A requirements are set out in Annex VIII. 18.09 A “locally trained player” is either a “club-trained player” or an “associationtrained player”. 18.10 A “club-trained player” is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which he turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which he turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months. 18.11 An “association-trained player” is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which the player turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the same association as that of his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or of 36 months. 18.12 If a club has fewer than eight locally trained players in its squad, then the maximum number of players on List A is reduced accordingly. http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/Regulations/competitions/Regulations/01/79/68/69/1796869_DOWNLOAD.pdf

So,yeah.....

I LOVE YOU. WELCOME BACK MOTHAFUCKAAAH.
-
110% agree with everything said. Out at the moment, when I get back I'll think up of an opinion on the last question.
-
I'd like Ba to start, along with Willian. Maybe even give Bertrand a go. Not to forget Azpi as well.
-
I have a gut feeling that it's MVG's chance.
-
JM on worst PL start: You(reporter) look more worried than me. Second time you mentioned this. You think I'm deaf.. or I'm not aware of it. HE MAD.

So I don't have the resources to be able to analyze Basel. It's hard to get a good download, especially a fast one. to top that, I have problem juggling studies with this. I have asked an FC Basel supporter to do a scout report on his team. He asked me an email, and I await his reply.

Analyzing Everton's goal - How it went completely berserk
hjperdeath replied to hjperdeath's topic in Chelsea Articles
oh god. I've never said that. I've said that it is barely any fault of Terry or Ivanovic. The blame falls on Luiz, Cole, Ramires and then Mikel. In that order. And I've already agreed to that part. We need to score. Simple as that. Modern football is a combination of zonal marking and man-marking. I can't explain that concept so yeah, we'll agree to disagree. I'm at school, so I'll go through your other explanation when I come back home. I have given my explanation to Skipper in the previous page. -
Analyzing Everton's goal - How it went completely berserk

I strongly disagree. Ivanovic was perfectly positioned to mark his respective player while Terry was covering an area zonally. Ivanovic was forced to press on Naismith (who was to be marked by Luiz) cause Luiz just wandered away towards the ball without looking at the defensive line. This kept Jelavic open. The story goes on as Ivanovic panics and rushes towards Jelavic when the ball is played in and a clear Naismith heads the ball in. There is no way they can head the ball away when the ball is being played into an area where they cannot encroach because they're either already marking someone or covering an area. The marking or covering was perfect in the sense that they were doing their duties, they were marking the players they were supposed to mark and covering the area's they were supposed to. Later on Coleman goes into the area where Terry is. So even if he goes on to mark Naismith, Coleman has a clear shot on goal. One can never find a fault with that. It isn't their fault if they fail to mark someone else's player, that is the other player's fault. Even with Terry it was never 2 on 2, because Terry isn't supposed to mark. You could blame several players for this goal, but Ivanovic and Terry can never be. They're more like victims, at-least in my opinion. -
Moses starts for Liverpool, so does Sturridge.

Welcome to the site ! hope you stick around, it's a great place.

I'm going to try getting the Basel report done. Sadly it is really difficult to get hold of their games and to top that, I have very less time in my hand cause of studies.
-
I'm the member who posted it , and I did look up at it . I'm not really sure what the argument is about but there was zero need for Luiz to jump on and press when Schurrle is nearby and yes I watched the game 3-4 times .

YOU LUCKY BASTARD.
