Obviously a fantatic result with lots of positives - 3 points, no yellows for Matic and Fab. Very poor performance overall though. Fabregas was awful and Drogba is really really shot, I hope he retires in May. The team lacked any sort of cohesion until Oscar came on. Poor performance but we won and that's all that counts. Basically there was nothing between the teams except that Courtois made a world-class save and Green made a world-class f**k-up that we had the experience and quality to capitalize on...

I would take Sterling in a heartbeat for the RW position. Would be an excellent signing but not cheap. He'd need to want to come, if that makes sense. I don't get the Messi idea. Firstly we will NEVER sign him, keep dreaming guys. Secondly, he wouldn't fit with our system of play AT ALL. He does very little pressing or tracking back and we can't afford a passenger in that department. If we can get Pogba or Koke then GREAT, if not, Schneiderlin is a good alternative and would complement Matic and Fab well. I get the impression we are going to go more 4-3-3 next season. Matic, Fab, Ramires and one other would work well for the 3 midfield roles. No need to replace Remy unless he's desperate to leave. He's been great and is the perfect 2nd choice striker.

I don't really get the praise that Van Gaal is getting all of a sudden. All he has done is really what he should have done from the start - stop playing shitty tactics and play people in their right positions. It's not rocket science really...

Matic for me, has made the biggest difference in altering/improving the balance of this team. Obviously it depends on the run in though...

Yes, I think Mourinho played far too defensively, but only after the Ibra red. He only went for it after Luiz goal, then reverted to type after the penalty. We should have gone after a tired PSG to make it safe at 3-1.

I agree wth all of this, but it only came about because Mourinho played with fire rather than trying to put the game to bed. It's not the first or last time we'll be punished for those tactics, but certainly is the highest profile example recently.

While I agree with the sentiment, I am not sure the players are to blame. Do you not think it was more a case of Mourinhos tactics dictating a somewhat stand-offish performance (ie being defensive against 10 men at home) rather than getting in about them?

My 2 cents: Really really disappointed to go out in those circumstances. I am a fan of Mourinho but he got his tactics completely wrong last night. Essentially playing for a 0-0 at home against 10 men, I cannot accept that. I am happy for us to be defensive and play tight away from home in the first leg, but against 10 men at home for 60 minutes, just go and win the game!! At least try!! It seems Mou does not have this domination tactic in his locker. We can counter well but struggle when we need to take the initiative. We must change that or we'll never be an elite team. Even when we attacked we looked completely sterile as has been the case alot recently. For those tactics alone, we deserved to go out. PSG were excellent, you would not know they had 10 men and they thoroughly deserved to go through. We had a favourable ref decision or two, 11vs10, 1-0 up, 2-1 up and still could not go through. A deserved and slightly humiliating exit. We really need to beat Southampton now and go and win this league now....
