Unfortunately, there are hardly many quality right backs out there these days but Azpilicueta is one of them and he's only 23 too. If we get a chance to snap him up, we should do it ASAP.

It's a risk. If we can get one now for a low price, then I don't see why we shouldn't buy one. Ferreira's contract expires next summer anyway. So, we'll be buying a new RB sooner or later.

I've searched for news about him and I found a couple of recent "articles" that mentioned his name as a Chelsea target.. I honestly don't know which would be a better signing between him and Van der Wiel.

So does it mean Albeloa ois better than Azp? Why isnt Azp bing considered for the spanish RB position? Arbeloa for m is the weakest link in the spanish team and real madrid. but somehow Azp cannot compete for RB.

Ivano will be our right back, we need a back up. Azp is a fine young talent who could share games with ivano when need be. azp will be for squad depth and will be one for the future for sure

Well, I haven't watched either closely, but how much do you really want to read into a team that plays without a striker? VDB would probably rather go with a more experienced player - I know that if I had two comparably skilled players, I'd much prefer to play the most experienced one in major tournaments.

Besides, saying that Debuchy is better on the grounds that he starts for his national team, whereas Azpilicueta doesn't, is pretty bogus logically. That fails to take into account anything of importance, such as: the quality of the team overall, the depth at that position, the manager's tactics, current fitness, experience, etc., etc.. Don't get me wrong, I think Debuchy would be a great signing, but using his starting for the French team as any justification for liking him isn't really valid.

I understand what you mean, but I never said I like him cuz he starts for France. Infact if it wasnt for Sagna's injury, Debouchy would be nowhere near the starting line up. I was reffering to Azp not getting a call for Spain, while there is some average player occupying that spot. Or maybe he is from Real Madrid, he gets automatic call up. But dont get me wrong, I know Albeloa is a good footballer.

I guess, for me, it's not really enough of a reason to doubt his worth as a transfer too much - coaches make all sorts of odd decisions with national team selection. Of course, it would be awesome if he was starting, because we'd all be like, "holy crap, this guy's good!", but we'd also end up paying twice as much for him thanks to his price inflating. Regardless of his ability, we'll pay a lot less because he's not on the field right now.
