"I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy."

I don't know about you guys. But in this lifetime, I've seen enough death. Be it Gadaffi's son, Bin Laden, Saddam Hussien. Enough. Justice does not equal death.

Bit of perspective needed I feel

Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are a product of US foregn policy.

The US corporations and government spend more on weapons than every country in the world combined.

Since World War 2 the US has intervened in over 200 foreign countries supporting right wing death squads and despots, and been involved in 20 wars killing over 9 million people. This makes Bin Laden look like a choirboy.

Just one example would be the sanctions on Iraq when it laid claim to Kuwait (which does belong to Iraq but the British drew a straight line in the sand in the 1920s to create this artificial country). Anyway, the sanctions on Iraq killed ovre 600 000 children and babies under 5 years old. Madeleine Albright, the US secretary of State at the time said ''It was a price worth paying.'' The US now own 80% of the oil wells in Kuwait and Iraq.

It is no wonder that through the millions it has slaughtered that you get people like Osama Bin Laden fighting back.

Just as Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden shouldn't have been killed. Because we have made us a favor... They should have been thrown in jail for the rest of their life. There, they had an easy end. Plus killing isn't justice... What USA have done is vengeance, not justice.

And even if he is a big criminal, celebrate his dead like some americans are doing isn't right, in my opinion.

Agree with that

Why do the United States our military on almost 1000 bases spread across over 100 countries?

Could what said by Major General Smedley Butler, United States Marine Corps, who was twice awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, be true? "War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses."

20-30 years in prison is nothing in comparison how many innocent people were killed in those attacks. He was a mass murderer.

That's why they serve multiple life counts. Bernie Madoff's in jail for 150-years.

Throwing Osama in prison would be a huge risk and lead to lots of terrorist attacks on the prison. But he fought back and they killed him, there is nothing wrong with that. Celebrating it is however pretty sickening.

But he fought back and they killed him

No proof of this. Obama says he "watched" the entire operation, will be interesting to see if they release this footage.

My own opinion is, I'm disgusted by everyone cheering his death. Enough blood has been spilt unnecessary, enough lives have been taken for no good reasons. Human society is collapsing, the sanctity of human life no longer exits afaic.

Why would they release it? That would be a wrong move.

You are defending vile person. 150 years? He would only serve 30 years, but those people in NY died of a horrible death.

I'm not defending him. Nothing I have said has been in defence. I'm sorry I'm not happy someone has died. Sorry.

Those people did die a horrible death in 9/11. Yet there is no concrete proof Bin Laden was responsible. What about the innocent people dying horribly at the hands of America and Britain, would you feel the same if every soldier who claimed an innocent life was shot on site?

Death does not equal justice. I would prefer to see him suffer in jail.

There isn't any proof that he has even been killed either as far as I know... Other than the reports from Obama and the US who also said that they planned to take him alive if possible. I really doubt they will release any footage of the actual firefight, at most a photo or two of the dead body to shut up the conspiracy theorists. This is however what Brennan said at the press conference " We certainly were planning for the possibility, which we thought was going to be remote," Brennan said of capturing Bin Laden alive. " If we had the opportunity to take him alive we would have done that". So yeah until anything other than that has been proven I will go ahead and believe it.

Well he said so himself in one of his tapes and we do know that the people on the planes had very strong links with al qaeda. But as I said before I agree with you that celebrating his death is a bit disgusting, especially all the "Obama 1- Osama 0" shit but there is a pretty huge fucking difference from a soldier accidentally killing a innocent to someone aiming to kill innocent.

This will never, ever happen. It will just entice and aggravate the extremists even more. We'll be lucky to even see a photo, until we do see a photo mind you I don't believe it's true.
