Lamps to guide McEachran

Frank Lampard is hopeful of playing a key role in the development of Chelsea's young midfielder Josh McEachran.

The 17-year-old has recently found himself in manager Carlo Ancelotti's first-team plans following a catalogue of injuries at the club.

McEachran has made 13 appearances so far this season, with many admiring the player's talents and hailing him as a long-term successor for the prolific Lampard.

The 32-year-old England midfielder feels that his young apprentice is destined to become a top player and will be right behind him in developing his talents if he is asked.

"Other clubs show great examples of that with players like Ryan Giggs helping people around them and you do have to take that responsibility on," Lampard told the club's official website.

"Particularly with young Josh coming into midfield it is quite a nice responsibility. He is going to be a top player and it is enjoyable to try to help him.

"I enjoy playing with the young players because they bring a real freshness into the team and into training.

"Josh has outstanding ability so although I talk to him to try to help him, probably very soon he will be helping me."

Really does warm me up to know that Lampard is making plans to do this with McEachran! It makes it all the more important to keep him here, and hopefully turn him into a one club man, rather than send him out on loan!
