MOTM: Kalou or Malouda

Kalou...

Execept for that great cross that led to our first and only goal, his passing was very poor and he managed to miss great chances (positioned himself well though).

MOTM is a hard call though, no individual really shone today. Mikel was very solid though.

You know, second look at that challenge, I'm bemused of how that was a straight red card. Yes it was perhaps dangerous, but let's be honest, he's didn't go flying in & Dempsey got up [almost] straight away. And I think full contact was on the ball, hardly any contact was made on Dempsey's legs

Yea Kalou missed a lot of chances but he was very active up front. No one in particular was impressive today, so hats off to Salomon for giving the assist.

Exactly. Would be surprised if Chelsea doesn't appeal.

Red card at the end was the only real disappointment of the night. Anyway with Lampard back at the weekend (fingers crossed) and Ramires available its not that much of a blow. Personally I thought that was our best performance in the last few weeks, I thought we deserved more than the 1-0 scoreline suggests. Ivanovic, Cole, Essien and Zhirkov all put in good performances but motm for me has to be Kalou who was full of running, always looked dangerous and put in a perfect cross for Essien's headed goal.

Vital result tonight, especially considering the draw in the Manchester derby as we now move 4 points clear of Man Utd.

Ancelotti will appeal, no doubt. I'm bemused why no-one has mentioned Zhirkov for man of the match. He was everywhere and involved in everything good. Did anyone actually count how many times he ran back and made interceptions/sliding blocks to win the ball back? I counted 11 successful, two fouls... brilliant work rate.

Yeah our first really good game since the CL match vs Marseille. But we can still do a lot better but we're on the right path.

dammit another game i've missed!

I must say the result looks very alarming to me, but i can't say anything on the matter due to the fact i haven't seen the game so i can't rate the overall performance with the result. I think we need to start scoring more, because we have a very small squad and having a goal difference may be the difference at the end.

Here's hoping Lampard is back for the weekend and i am able to watch it, something which seems to be troublesome due to the fact my computer fucked up the other day.

How long will Essien be banned for if the appeal doesn't get granted? And mu motm was Yuri, he was everywhereblue%20scalf.gif

He'll miss the next 3 games because it's a straight red card. If we appeal but it's not heard before the next game, he can play in it but if the appeal is found to be frivolous, he can be suspended for additional matches.

Thank you! Agree with you.

you're welcome Mate... just my thought... i think Essien was a bit lacking accuracy and lacking confidence in the first half... but mikel did countless interceptions, brakeing up they're play wounderfully, catching the ball and playing pure one touch... his efforts where superb... unlucky like so often, its because of his elegance and his composure on the ball i was never beliveing he was getting behind ramires in the pecking order... he is a pure talent and yesterday he showes once more what he is capable of... this was one of his best performances ever... so i dont know why sky gives him a 6 andn fucking goal.com gives him a 6.5... and then there is everywhere Ess the MOTM... a bit strange...

i think i should get one of this pundits...:champions:

Yeah i fully agree with you and was surprised by those ratings too.

And great to see Carlo gave him and Yuri well deserved compliments, they were the best players on the field.

Mikel was excellent yet again and he even had his shooting boots on for once! Cech also made some crucial saves as the game become a bit more difficult than it should have been. Drogba still looks like he's suffering and needs some time off in my opinion. Essien's tackle was never a sending off. Dempsey's elbow on Bosingwa also needs looking at by the FA, how the ref didn't see that is beyond me. What exactly was he looking at?

Kalou was poor again and the Fulham left back was even worse. It truly was one of the worst performences I've seen from an opposiiton player in years, he made Kalou look fast and skillful!

you are making a fool of yourself ...check the ratings the press gave kalou ....MOM in the two I saw..suggest you refrain from comments on him as your negative bias devalues any other opinions you might express
