neel 257
UEFA announced today that their Executive Committee has unanimously approved proposed financial fair play regulations within football. The UEFA statement listed the three ‘main pillars’ of the new regulations:1. Break-even requirement – clubs must not spend more than they generate over a period of time.2. No overdues payable during the season - towards other clubs, employees and/or social/tax authorities).3. Provision of future financial information – to ensure clubs can meet their future obligations.http://www.goal.com/en/news/755/europe/2010/05/27/1945943/uefa-approve-financial-fair-play-regulations

Rubber bullets 1,183
What a great rule, lets make it even more difficult for the smaller clubs to get a Champions league spot and piss of the bigger clubs till the point of breaking off and forming a sort of Super league.Wage Caps would have been a better option. We Hate Scouse 10,326
Stupid decision!Just read that it won't be implemented until the 2014-2015 season at the earliest. I'm sure clubs will find loopholes in it before then. Edited May 28, 2010 by we hate scouse
warnie_666 1,081
Platini is the Worst Thing that has happened to European Football. Making it almost impossible for below par teams to progress ahead. According to him he is not concerned about the debts but more concerned about clubs running in losses. How wonderfully that rule suits clubs like Real Madrid and Barca. neel 257
what will happen if Roman decides to buy shirts worth of 100 million ? :D
northernblue 2
I agree with the rule to an extent as it will hopefully curb the ridiculous spending that is going on. However it does reward the bigger who already have high turnover and means it is nigh on impossible for someone, like Blackburn in 95, to break the mould at the top of the league. Matterz 67
I think it is great that they are preventing clubs from taking massive loans from banks, but why cant a club receive capital from its owner if it is not generating any debt to the club? seriously that is backwards thinking and how do UEFA ever expect to football to grow economically if people cannot invest in football? Fulham Broadway 17,317
On R5 they were discussing this and they billed the story as a way to ''stop clubs like Man City and Chelsea buying all the players they want''. I rang in fucking incandescent. This is bollox as far as I am concerned, and just the usual 'red' journalists twisting the story. In fact it will penalise the red clubs more -part of it is designed to stop clubs 'living beyond their means' ie you cannot borrow to buy a club. That would have seriously fucked up the Glazers and Gillette and Hicks. They wouldnt have been able to buy United or Liverpool as a cash machine. As far as Real Madrid is concerned they are heavily subsidised by the Spanish government. via property deals and cash injections. There is politics at bay here. Their main rivals Barca, are Catalan, an area that wants to be separate from Spain, have socialist leanings and are owned by the fans.so The government always want Real to be more successful, and have links with the ruling bodies. Matterz 67
This might actually suit Chelsea anyway, seeing as we seem to be the only club who has ever mentioned that we are aware of these laws and were already working towards breaking even and being self sufficient. Just love how all the papers point the fingers at us and Man City when they should be pointing them at Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid. And another thing, so its fine for the Madrid government to subside them and inject huge amounts of cash into their club but god forbid our wealthy invest some of his money into our club. EskWeston 696
There will be ways around it for sure, but what they are doing is to keep the established elite at the top!! It looks like the Premiership are set to follow suit so this will be the last time we will see anyone truly have a go at taking on the top 4. If there are the constant usual suspects peaking, it's a persuasive argument for their dream....
