Just so, so wrong. On one hand, Ron ''I'm a cunt'' Gourlay says its paramount to keep the heritage of Stamford Bridge, yet in the same breath he's advocating it being allowed to be called the Tampax Arena or Pringles Stadium ..or who ever pays the most cash.

Our Summer tours of Californian and other US Stadia with names to make you cringe gives an insight to where we're heading. Mc Burger Disney Arena etc.

Gourlay has proven he's worse than Kenyon so far. Stamford Bridge it should remain -it's not as if we need the cash either. Get a grip Roman, and remember its the fans that made what you bought.

A gourlay out banner will be in the MHU gate 17 alongside my bracknell blues flag

The KitKat Crescent - York City

Changed from Bootham Crescent in 2005 after Nestle Rowntree saved the club from going out of business.

The Home Depot Center - LA Galaxy

America's equivalent of B&Q is more than just a stadium. The site also boasts a David Beckham Academy, tennis stadium, athletics track and indoor velodrome. Pizza Hut Park - FC Dallas

The MLS side sold it's stadium naming right to the fast food giant last year. The ground is also sometimes known as PHP, the Hut and The Oven, the latter referring to the summer climate in Texas.

Dick's Sporting Goods Park - Colorado Rapids

The MLS side moved to their new stadium, often just known as 'Dick's' in 2007 as part of the club's initiatives to reinvent themselves. A partnership with Arsenal was also formed.

Bargain Booze Stadium - Witton Albion

The Northern Premier League First Division South famously changed their Wincham Park ground for a couple of seasons.

LOL!!! some funny ones there...Bargain Booze, Pizza Hut, Dick's Sporting, KitKat

:goodpost:

Football is just a fucking business these days and the owners use the clubs as toys.

A load of gourlay out banners on Sunday will do the trick...even if they are just bits of paper stuck together the club will see them, and a rousing chant of we want gourlay out by everyone . WE saved OUR GROUND once its time to do it again

I read this in the Metro earlier in the week - metro.co.uk about what's happening at Newcastle United and it made me laugh.

Newcastle hit back as fans revolt over naming fiasco

sportsdirect.com@ St James Park causes uproar

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Newcastle fans are furious at the proposals Newcastle have defended their decision to rename St James' Park, claiming relegation from the Premier League has left them in a financial black hole and desperate for new investment.

Toon fans are up in arms at underfire owner Mike Ashley's plan to rebrand the ground 'the sportsdirect@St James' Park stadium' to showcase naming rights to potential sponsors.

'The idea of turning the history of St James' Park into something that resembles an e-mail address absolutely beggars belief,' said Mark Jensen, editor of United fanzine The Mag.

However, Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias explained: 'Basically, from £100million revenue, we have dropped to £50m. A good chunk of that is TV money from the Premier League, so from the Premier League, it's £40m.

'We get a parachute payment of £12.5m and then in the Championship itself, you get £2.4m of income.

'There's a massive void there that needs to be covered. You get a drop in your season tickets, you get a drop in your attendance, retail, it all drops.

'That shortfall needs to be made up. Mike [Ashley] is picking the shortfall up now and it's very, very difficult. But we are getting through it.'

On the issue of stadium naming rights, Llambias added: 'With the renaming, whatever brand it was, it was always going to be "whatever brand it was St James' Park".

'So I can clear it up, for the remainder of this season, we already have sportsdirect.com on the Gallowgate, so we would like to take that branding through the rest of the stadium and on the outside where you see St James' now, we would like to have sportsdirect.com@St James' so it can showcase it to whoever is out there who wishes to buy the package.'

Asked if the name 'St James' Park' would always remain amid an angry response from fans, Llambias replied: 'Absolutely. In our reign, absolutely.

'It's adding to it, and if it brings in a good chunk of money to the club, that goes straight to the team, then do you know what, it's a revenue we should look at.'
