I thought Drogba was intent on leaving at the end of his contract? But I will be very pleased if he stays on.

J.Cole is underrated always, until he actually plays. What team does TerminatorX support?

Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda signed his new three-year deal and then declared: 'This is just the beginning of the story'.

Malouda, who had one year remaining on his current contract, is excited about the prospect of developing his game under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The France international played on the left side of a midfield diamond during Chelsea's recent pre-season friendly against Seattle

I was really happy when I heard it was Carlo Ancelotti because I have a lot of respect for him,' said Malouda.

'At my former club Lyon I played many times against Milan. For me it is a really good choice and I believe in him.

'This year he wants to try the new system with a diamond so I have to adapt myself and that is why we are training really hard to do what the manager wants.

'It is a different role for me but that is part of my game, I can play in many positions, and I have played it a few times in Lyon when there were injuries and in the France national team I have played many times this position.'

Malouda had agreed the new contract while away on holiday and he is delighted to be committed to Chelsea until 2012.

He told the club's official website: 'I am really happy because it shows a mutual trust between the club and myself and for me it is just the beginning of the story.

'The last six months especially I was feeling great, plus we won a trophy that was really important to me.

'I feel really good and you can see it on the pitch and I hope we get more trophies.'

I thought I must be going mad for a minute ??? I am sure they have just signed long term extensions.

They agreed the terms of the new contract awhile ago but Malouda has only signed the contract yesterday, Mikel will probably sign his new deal shortly too and im pretty confident of new deals for Joe Cole and Drogba too.

Yeah but the only thing I would say to that is, because Terry is captain, he deserves to be the highest paid player, right??

Not necessarily the highest paid, but definately on par with the highest.

Chelsea think John Terry’s decision to stay will help them secure the futures of Ashley Cole, Joe Cole and Didier Drogba.

Ashley Cole has two years left of his £80,000-a-week deal and will be offered a new, four-season contract worth £10,000 more.

Blues are also in negotiations to get Joe Cole on a new deal. Despite interest from Tottenham and the fact he will not be guaranteed first-team football, Joe Cole has no desire to leave and is eager to get his future sorted. Drogba is expected to commit to a three-year contract before the season starts.

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could bid to take Deco to Inter Milan while Bayern Munich have put a £80million tag on Blues target Franck Ribery.
