the wes 7,212
who's the best man for the job !!!!!! i picked essien
EskWeston 696
Ferreira is injured! I wouldn't play Essien at Left back! We would miss his drive in midfield, and we want to dominate the midfield battle in that game. For me it would be Ivanovic.
Alee. 182
Ivanovic for me
Kajo 176
If Ivanovic will play as left-back who will be the right-back ? Also we cannot use Essien as left-back we need him in the middle of the pitch it's very important to got him there against FCB.
EskWeston 696
If Ivanovic will play as left-back who will be the right-back ? Bosingwa. And if he isn't fit then either Mancienne or Belletti.

Steve 10,227
Reports in the press are saying bosingwa has been given the nod to play there
Manson17 0
Ivanovic for me. Essien is needed to much in the middle to old out Xavi... Bosingwa wouldnt be bad, but I think we need him at RB... Unless Ivanovic and Bosingwa swap. Which wouldnt be such a bad idea...
warnie_666 1,081
Can someone explain to me the logic of Playing a genuine RB at LB? I heard Boswinga it is finally, who will take the role to stop Messi. I know he is right footed and can stop Messi from cutting inside but so is Ivanovic. bombayblue™ 55
Bosingwa is faster up and down.. Remember Rafa deploying Arbeloa at LB to counter messi and how good that worked??

BlueLion. 21,491
Would keep Ivanovic at RB tbh, to upset the established order as little as possible.
BlueLion. 21,491
José Bosingwa will start at left-back today at West Ham as Guus Hiddink continues to explore options for the Champions League on Tuesday. Michael Mancienne was watched by the temporary first team coach in that role for the reserves on Monday. Now with Bosingwa returning to full training on Thursday following a minor hamstring injury, another defender to take over from suspended Ashley Cole in the Camp Nou can be investigated. 'Bosingwa will start,' announces Hiddink, referring to his selection for the West Ham game. 'We have some options and during the game we might change it. We have practiced a few days with this position.' Playing a right-back on the opposite flank does not concern Hiddink. 'It is not new in the world of football. It is not very common that a left-footed player plays right full-back, but you see more right-footed full-backs playing on the left side. 'We had one in Holland when Ruud Krol played in the 1974 World Cup Final as left-back. 'Bosingwa is fit, the injury is gone, we had a rather tough practice and there was no reaction,' he reports. 'I will not say he is playing on Tuesday, we will see how things are going. We don't have many options but we have a few. Whoever is playing against [Lionel] Messi will have a tremendous job to do because he is in the world the most productive player and one of the players you like to watch perform, except when you play him.' Hiddink decided on this course of action in the build-up to Barcelona the moment Cole received his third Champions League booking. 'I could start crying about not having Ashley Cole in that position and also look for excuses and say he is not here so we have a difficult tie. I am not like that, I like to put the full energy and the confidence to who is substituting him in that position.' Supporters can expect one or two more changes to the starting line-up at Upton Park. The players coming in will have played frequently at other stages of the season. Remaining at right-back is Branislav Ivanovic. 'Ivanovic is doing well,' praises Hiddink. 'He gives strength, he is determined, he knows what to do and he knows what not to do which is very important. 'Sometimes when players are doing well, they have the tendency to leave their comfort zone where they must deliver and go into zones where other players must play. He knows exactly what he should not do and what he is capable to do.'

BlueLion. 21,491
Bosingwa's at left-back for today, so the answer is right in front of us. Baring injury, its Bosingwa.
