Fiorentina are resuming talks with the representatives of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Gazzetta dello Sport says after going cold on the Serb following the closure of the January transfer window, Fiorentina have revived plans to bring the defender to Italy at the end of this season.

It looks pretty likely that either Alex or Ivanovic will leave in the summer. Both are strong and good players but i am sure they are not happy with the lack of playing time. We could then allow Mancienne to take the 4th spot.

yes he a quality player and a good head to get into the box for corners etc

we paid too much for him but hes done a decent job dont think he'll ever been a first team player though.. cuz when carvalho leaves or alex we'll just sign another superstar.. its ovious

I do believe that Ivanovic is the long term future of Chelsea. He is young and he is looking so sharp so far this season. Wouldn't you agree? If we pulled in another decent RB I wouldn't have too much trouble letting go of Bosingwa and letting Ivanovic our first choice pick for right back. Although keeping Boss is smart because Ivanovic can also cover for Carvalho and Terry whenever there are injuries. Anyways, his future is looking bright!

Real Madrid target Chelsea star in January transfer swoop

Real Madrid are targeting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic to solve their injury crisis.

The Spanish giants want the versatile Serbian after they were left short of cover when Pepe suffered a long-term injury.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes they may be able to lure Ivanovic away from Stamford Bridge because he is not a first choice.

But Madrid may be willing to wait until the summer to get their man, who can play either at right-back or centre-half.

Get out of here.

Branislav Ivanovic's agent expects the defender to stay at Chelsea despite attracting interest from Real Madrid.

Real are understood to have identified the 25-year-old as one of their transfer targets for the January window after losing centre-back Pepe to injury.

Pepe is set to be sidelined for around six months with knee ligament damage and the Spanish giants are desperate to bring in reinforcements.

However, Ivanovic has established himself as a key player at Stamford Bridge this season under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Serbian's versatility has proved useful and he has filled in admirably at right-back in place of the injured Jose Bosingwa.

Ivanovic's representative Vlado Borozan believes it would be hard for Real to prise him away from the London club.

"The interest of Real Madrid is true, but I don't think the Blues are willing to sell him at this moment," Borozan told calciomercato.it.

"Ancelotti has admired him since he was Milan's coach, and now Ivanovic is part of his plans of Chelsea, it seems very difficult that Real can take him."

We should be a bit like them when it came to Robinho, keep teasing them and teasing them, only this time on the last day we claim he is not for sale and keep him instead of selling him to another club.

It will just unsettle Ivanovic....!
