Speculation about Claudio going to Lazio. I think its ridiculous because the whole point of bringing him here was cover for January and February, selling him now is just completely stupid. Plus he has broke his scoring duck, maybe he can go on like Sheva did and grab three or four.

He can always play as cover.We have no guarantee that Sheva,Didier and Anelka will be injury free thru the rest of this season (lets hope they will) so selling now would be a massive mistake.

he was very good yesterday, i think he's a decent enough player to be in the squad, there's no point selling him already and looking for someone else. If Lazio guarrantee him first team football tho, he might be off. I still believe him to be more of a midfielder tho. He was good yesterday because he had a lot of the ball from deep possitions. Looked very good on the ball too.

When he was at Bayern, I watched a few games in which he played and each time he was played as a supporting striker. It is natural instinct for him to drop deep.

There is no way we will sell him until the summer, when we will rebuild. The injuries just keep comming and the ACN is a pain in our backside. We need him at the moment so there is no-way he will be going.

Spanish side Valencia are thought to be following the availability of Chelsea's striker Claudio Pizarro, who has been in West London for 6 months since his transfer from Bayern Munich.

Valencia, it has been reported, are thought to be willing to offer around 9 million Euros for the player who may be open to a move away from the club in a bid to secure himself more first team action. Certainly if another team were to come in with an offer for a fringe player that Chelsea signed for free just 6 months ago it would be very difficult to turn down.

Chelsea’s Peruvian forward Claudio Pizarro is once again being tracked by Spanish side Villarreal, who were in the race to sign the forward last summer, but lost out to Chelsea when Pizarro opted to join the Londoners instead.

In total Pizarro has made just 10 starts for Chelsea since arriving in the summer from Bayern Munich after several seasons in the Bundesliga, firstly with Werder Bremen and then with the Bavarian giants, and he has found himself unable to force his way into Avram Grant’s regular first team plans with Drogba, Kalou and now Anelka blocking his path to the first team.

Although Pizarro scored on his league debut for Chelsea when he grabbed a goal in the Blues 3-2 win over Birmingham City, he has managed only 1 more since, also bizarrely against Birmingham in the return fixture in January.

Rumours were rife over the winter that Pizarro would be off-loaded to Valencia but a move failed to materialise, Pizarro’s wage of £2.5 million per annum possibly proving a stumbling block, and the player remains at Chelsea for the time being. However, it is surely only a matter of time before Pizarro moves on, as at 29 he can’t afford to spend his best footballing years stuck on the bench, or worse in the stands.

Villarreal are now thought to have registered their interest for the striker, who has 45 Peruvian caps as well as an excellent record in the Bundesliga, with some sources even suggesting that a fee has been agreed for the player between the two clubs.

Villarreal are currently third in La Liga and have become something of an enclave for South American players in recent seasons so the arrival of a Peruvian would hardly be surprising. With a Champions League campaign potentially in the offing for the side known as the Yellow Submarine, because of their tendency to endure boom and bust periods, the club are believed to be keen to strengthen themselves in key areas.

They have already been linked with midfielders Rueben de la Red, a Real Madrid player, who is currently impressing with Getafe on loan helping them into the final of the Spanish Cup last night as well as the last 8 of the UEFA Cup, and Edu Dracena, who is currently on the books of Fenerbahce.

The arrival of Pizarro might signal the end for either Franco or Tomasson, both of whom have been on the fringes of the squad this season. Nevertheless the acquisition of Pizarro, adding to Giuseppe Rossi and Nihat, both of whom have been in fine form this season, would mean that Villarreal would have some excellent striking options for next season.

Pizarro has been a real disappointment this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually went somewhere permanently to be honest. Get rid of him and Sheva and bring in Huntelaar. That means we would have Drogba (providing he stays), Huntelaar and Anelka as strikers, and that would seem like a good balance.

Werder Bremen have made clear their interest in bringing Claudio Pizarro back to the club in the summer.

The Peruvian striker has failed to make a lasting impression at Chelsea this season and has scored just two league goals since his free transfer arrival from Bayern Munich in June.

His record in the Bundesliga is considerably more formidable though, given he scored 70 times in 174 games for Bayern Munich and 29 times in 56 games during his three seasons with Bremen.

It looks increasingly as if Pizarro could be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season following his struggles in London, and Bremen would be at the front of the queue to bring him back to the Bundesliga, according to general manager Klaus Allofs.

“Claudio is an interesting player for me,” said Allofs in Bild.

“A soon-to-be 30-year-old is not too old for us. We have no illusions over young players.

“Financially it could be difficult but I can enquire.”
