Travis Scott x Fragment Design x Air Jordan 1 Low

https://sneakernews.com/2021/08/12/travis-scott-fragment-design-air-jordan-1-low-og-dm7866-140/

feature image

Over the last decade, Travis Scott has become a household name in the worlds of music, fashion and even video games. And tomorrow, the Texas-native gets to share another one of his dreams with people from across the globe as he’s set to release his Air Jordan 1 Low OG co-created by fragment design.

Different from the two parties’ joint-high-top, the next reimagined retro by La Flame indulges in a “Black Toe” arrangement that harkens back to one of the inaugural styles of Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker. Backwards swooshes take over the lateral profile, as has become customary of Scott’s collaborative footwear; the medial logo maintains a standard makeup, delivering black-contrast to the shoe. Cactus Jack and fragment design co-branding round out the low-top Air Jordan 1 on the heels, commemorating the legendary moment.

Enjoy more imagery of the pair here below, as you wait to see if you get lucky tomorrow, August 13th.

Elsewhere under the Jumpman brand, the Air Jordan 36 is set to debut as early as August 19th.

Randolph Crescent
London W9

£1,500,000
Share of Freehold

Architect: Openstudio Architects

https://www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/randolph-crescent

IVJ_9820-1-950x632.jpg

“Interior walls have been cleverly arranged so as not to touch the exterior walls, allowing an excellent flow of light throughout”

This bright two-bedroom apartment lies on the second floor of a handsome building on Randolph Crescent, a quiet, tree-lined street in the heart of Little Venice, Maida Vale. Creatively reconfigured and refurbished by Openstudio Architects, the apartment extends over 915 sq ft and offers an open-plan layout of versatile living spaces. It has access to immaculate and peaceful communal gardens and is minutes away from Regent’s Canal.

The Tour

The houses on Randolph Crescent are characterised by their well-proportioned brickwork, white stucco-fronted porticos and bays, generous sash windows and black and white chequerboard-tiled entranceways. A striking pillar-box red panelled door, with a crowning fanlight overhead, gives access to the shared hallway and stairway of this apartment.

The apartment unfolds in an exploration of linear forms and spatial manipulation, offering flexible living and plenty of opportunities for adaptability. There is a sense of contemporary sophistication throughout, aided in part by the cohesive flow of interior spaces, which come together in an exacting mix of light, materials, colour and detail.

The layout of the apartment is wonderfully open, with each room looking through to the adjacent rooms. Interior walls have been cleverly arranged so as not to touch the exterior walls, allowing an excellent flow of light throughout. The living area is illuminated by sunlight and has leafy garden views, with defined areas for relaxing, working and eating. A magnificent full-height, teak veneered sliding door separates it from the beautifully detailed kitchen.

The two bedrooms overlook the treetops of Randolph Crescent and have expansive views over the tree-lined street. The main bedroom, replete with a wall of floor-to-ceiling storage, overlooks a lovely, plant-filled balcony. The second bedroom, awash with sunlight, is lined with shelving and further storage.

The generously sized bathroom can be accessed from either the hallway or the main bedroom. Its detailing is restrained and minimal, the muted grey glass mosaic tiling adding a hint of sparkle. Utility facilities are neatly located along the hallway, along with additional cloakroom storage.

Outdoor Space

Mature communal gardens lie at the rear of the house, accessed via a secure gate located at the end of Randolph Crescent. The gardens are laid to lawn, with mature shrubs and several seating areas, and are incredibly tranquil. Shade-giving trees are dotted all around, creating ideal spots for an afternoon of reading or an evening picnic. Local residents also gather in the gardens to enjoy community events.

The Area

Randolph Crescent is brilliantly located in Little Venice, Maida Vale; a thriving neighbourhood awash with cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as an Everyman cinema. Clifton Road is close by and has a number of independent boutiques and delis.

Regent’s Canal is a just short stroll away, a gateway to the rest of London and a lovely spot for a coffee at the Waterside Cafe, lunch on one of the many barge restaurants, such as Darcie & May Green, dinner at Summer House or an alfresco drink at Pergola Paddington. Other dining delights include delicious fare at Kateh and Maguro, a wonderful local Japanese restaurant off Clifton Road. The green open space of Paddington Recreation Ground is a three-minute walk away, and Westbourne Park and Notting Hill are a short distance to the south across the canal. Golborne Road and Portobello Road are also easily accessible. Less than a mile away are Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park and Regent’s Park. Lord’s Cricket Ground is also within easy reach.

There are plenty of transport options locally. The nearest Underground stations are Warwick Avenue, a three-minute walk away and Maida Vale, which is a five-minute walk away (both Bakerloo line), while St Johns Wood (Jubilee Line) is within easy walking distance to the northeast. The Westway provides access out of London and towards Heathrow Airport; Heathrow can also be reached within 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express, which runs regularly from Paddington.

Tenure: Leasehold (Share of Freehold)
Lease length: approx. 85 years remaining (lease expires 2106)
Service Charge: approx. £2,000 per annum

Ghost House I
Borland Road, London SE15

£925,000
Freehold

Architect: Fraher and Findlay

https://www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/ghost-house-i/

Ghost-House-I-London-SE15-2-950x634.jpg

“Sustainability, flow and natural light are the organising principles in the house's configuration and aesthetic”

Designed by architectural developers Fraher & Findlay, this exceptional three-bedroom house is located on a quiet residential street a short walk from Nunhead and the expansive green spaces of Peckham Rye. Sustainability, flow and natural light are the organising principles of the configuration and aesthetic; the finest contemporary materials including terrazzo, engineered oak and perforated steel have been used. These are combined with super-insulation, a mechanical heat recovery system and extensive sections of glazing to create a home fit for contemporary life, which looks out over a beautiful private garden.

The Architect

Fraher & Findlay was founded in 2009 and quickly gained a reputation for cleverly conceived, award-winning residential projects across London. More recently, the architectural practice has grown into the realm of design and build, joining forces with Findlay Construction to create beautiful contemporary housing in challenging sites all around the UK. The Ghost Houses are their latest residential project in London. They were completed in spring 2021 as a terrace of three; one of the houses has already been sold.

The Building

The houses draw inspiration from the Japanese architectural model of a Pencil House, a building configured on a narrow plot. The Ghost House scheme develops this notion to create a set of flowing spaces that capitalise on their surroundings in a truly modern approach to living.

The Tour

The row of houses presents a striking façade to the street. Formed of white brick, with exaggerated zinc-clad pitched roofs, the elevations lend a contemporary twist to the traditional Victorian terraces that characterise the area.

Upon entry, a long hallway leads past a guest WC, through to the heart of the home: a split-level, open-plan kitchen, living and dining room, bathed in natural light care of full-height glazed windows to the garden. These spaces are incredibly bright, with high ceilings, terrazzo floors with underfloor heating and large skylights overhead.

The bespoke contemporary kitchen sits to one side, with an L-shaped counter with Corian worktops and integrated Bosch appliances, including an induction hob. There is an adjoining larder and utility room, plus built-in oak shelving. Just beyond the kitchen is the dining and living area. It is here that the exceptional light and volume of this house becomes most apparent. Light pours into the room across a custom-made oak window seat, while a set of steps leads up and out to the garden.

The environment of these spaces has been meticulously considered. The house is super-insulated, all windows are triple-glazed and the Mechanical Heat Ventilation Recovery system ensures that the air is regularly filtered and refreshed even with the windows closed. These features, combined with an innovative heat pump system, ensure that the air is cool in the summer and that the house remains warm in the colder months.

The first floor comprises a large main bedroom with built-in oak-fronted wardrobes at the front of the plan. There is also a second, slightly smaller bedroom on this floor, which is currently configured as a study and guest bedroom. There is a family bathroom with white tiles and striking black taps. Perforated steel panels on each of the landings allow natural light to cascade across the plan, which enters via a large skylight at the top of the house.

A third large bedroom with a skylight occupies the second floor, with a study area positioned at the back of the house overlooking the house’s wildflower roof and the garden below. There are significant amounts of storage space on this level within the eaves.

Outdoor Space

The house has a large private garden at the rear. A beautiful patio area, accessed via glazed doors from the living room, creates a wonderful extension of the internal living spaces in the warmer months, while a raised lawn with raised beds filled with plants and shrubs offers a low-maintenance outdoor space.

The house has a private bin and bike store at the front.

The Area

The Ghost Houses occupy a wonderful position on a quiet residential street a short walk from Nunhead and Peckham Rye. The area is peaceful yet has easy connections to the shops, cafes and restaurants of nearby Crofton Park, Brockley, Nunhead and Peckham. The shops of Nunhead Lane are a short walk away and include the now-famous fishmongers F. C. Soper. More recent arrivals include Babette, El Vermut, Four Hundred Rabbits, and coffee shop Goodcup. The Ivy House, one of London’s only cooperative-run pubs, is positioned just around the corner, as is the Waverly Arms, popular for its beer garden.

Peckham has become known for its restaurant and arts scene and is within walking distance of the house. The southern end of Rye Lane is home to excellent restaurants and pubs including Mr Bao, Bánh Bánh and Pedler, as well as The White Horse and Taco Queen. Bellenden Village is a few minutes’ walk away, where The General Store has the finest seasonal produce including Neal’s Yard cheese and a selection of natural wines. Excellent neighbourhood restaurants include Levan (recently featured in our My Modern Menu series), Artusi and The Begging Bowl. Review Bookshop is a fantastic local independent bookshop

Nunhead Station is a 15-minute walk from the house, running Thameslink and Southern Rail service to London Bridge in under half an hour. Peckham Rye and Brockley stations run direct services to central London and connect via the London Overground citywide.

The Cassina Apartment
Television Centre, Wood Lane, London W12

£3,800,000
Leasehold

Architect: AHMM

https://www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/the-cassina-apartment/

C5-801-reception-8976-2-950x633.jpg

Television-Centre-I-1-950x633.jpg

“A landmark piece of modern architecture”

This light and elegant three-bedroom penthouse apartment, with three private terraces, can be found on the eighth floor of Television Centre’s Crescent. It was built to a design by Stirling Prize-winning practice AHMM, lead architects on the award-winning reinvention of the Grade II-listed site, with interiors by furniture and interior designer Cassina.

The Building

A landmark piece of modern architecture, Television Centre was the home of the BBC for over 50 years, until its relocation in 2012. The newly built Crescent follows the circular form of the Grade II-listed Helios building and provides a boundary around the existing building, with views of the private gardens between them and Hammersmith Park to the west. For more information on Television Centre, see the History section below.

The Designer

This apartment is one of nine in the Crescent to belong to the ‘Architects’ Series’, each individually designed by an architecture practice alongside lead designers AHMM. This one was designed by AHMM themselves, whilst Coffey Architects, Haptic and Piercy and Co. have all contributed a unique treatment of light, materiality and layout for the other spaces. This particular flat has been furnished by Cassina, who were founded in Italy in 1927. They are now the only company authorised to manufacture furniture designed by Charlotte Perriand (1903-99) alongside other iconic pieces by great modern architects including Le Corbusier, Mackintosh and Rietveld.

The Tour

Internal accommodation extends to approximately 2,300 sq ft and is arranged in an open, lateral plan. At the apartment’s centre is the kitchen, by Molteni & Co and Dada Hi-Line, with appliances by Miele. A long walnut bar looks out through floor-to-ceiling glazing onto a large sky garden and far-reaching westerly views beyond. An adjacent gallery, bathed in light from a series of roof lights, allows the kitchen to be closed when necessary, retaining a primary route between the two front bedrooms and the living space.

The gallery leads to an expansive reception space, opening through a sliding pocket door to a central dining area that serves as a division between the formal and informal living areas. There is access to separate terraces at both aspects. The larger of the terraces looks inward over the enclosed communal gardens and is shared by one of the bedrooms.

All three bedrooms have built-in wardrobes and en suite bath or shower rooms. From the entrance hall, there is access to a guest WC and a separate utility room with a terrazzo worktop. The flooring throughout the living areas is engineered timber, with a Laminam ceramic tiled floor in the kitchen and porcelain tiled floors in the guest cloakroom and bathrooms.

The Area

Television Centre is at the centre of an exciting regeneration of the area, with the opening of independent restaurants such as Kricket and the new Soho House members’ club, White City House. Also nearby is White City Place, a creative campus with restaurants, shops and museums, and the new home to RCA’s Schools of Communication, Humanities, and Architecture.

Residents of Television Centre enjoy a range of brilliantly executed amenities, including access to the Soho House gym, a private cinema, 24-hour concierge, and an excellent residents’ lounge with work and meeting spaces.

https://thenudge.com/features/recently-opened-restaurants/

Colone-Saab-holborn.jpg.webp

Right now, technically all of London’s restaurants have recently opened.

But this is where we celebrate the brand new spots opening their doors for the very first time. And so behold: the best brand new places to check out in London.

Want to know what’s coming up? Well, luckily there’s a guide to London restaurants opening soon, too.

Colonel Saab | Holborn

PDR-MemSaab-2.jpeg.webp

When you open a restaurant in Holborn’s former town hall, you don’t skimp on the decor. This beauteous new eatery is the first UK outpost for hotelier Roop Partap Choudhary, inspired by his father’s travels in the Indian army. And the all day menu promises as much of a feast for the tastebuds as the room is for your eyes… READ MORE

Trattoria Brutto | Clerkenwell

After a whirlwind decade in which Russell Norman has opened literally dozens of restaurants, and subsequently left the Polpo Group (which he started) to strike out on his own once again, he’s doing the striking with Trattoria Brutto… READ MORE

Planque | Haggerston

planque-clams.jpg.webp

Wine. That’s what Planque is all about. But to expand on that ever so slightly, it’s a wine-focussed restaurant, bar, members club, and shop all packed into a pair of railway arches in Haggerstown. And it comes to us from the esteemed Seb Myers, fresh from his residency at P.Franco READ MORE
Opened: 29th September

Rondo La Cave | Holborn

rondo-interior.jpeg.webp

And speaking of wine bars… here’s another, this time in central London. And it comes with the added benefit that the food part of the equation is constantly changing, thanks to a chef residency programme (a little like Carousel). Kicking off proceedings is Adam Rawson, who’s bringing his Anglo-Peruvian concept Cantina Valentina to the table… READ MORE
Opened: 29th September

Manthan | Mayfair

manthan-mayfair.jpeg

Rohit Ghai cooks some of the best Indian cuisine in the city. He’s manned the pans at Michelin starred Gymkhana and Jamavar, opened his first solo spot Kutir to rave reviews, and now he’s back in Mayfair with Manthan, a restaurant based on sharing plates and cocktails (both boozy and not).
Opened: 28th September

Joe Allen | Covent Garden

Joe-allen-inset.jpg.webp

‘Recently’ might sound like a bit of a stretch for an institution that opened in 1977. But Theatreland classic Joe Allen has only just reopened after the drama of the past 18 months, and it’s been given a new lease of life by chef Gary Lee (who’ll be drawing on his experience feeding luvvies at The Ivy for 17 years) and Polpo founder Russell Norman, who’s created a brand new cocktail bar for the place… READ MORE

Ekstedt at The Yard

This is the first restaurant outside of Stockholm for Michelin star chef Niklas Ekstedt, and it’s on fire right now. Quite literally, because every dish on the menu is getting a lick of flames from the fire pit, like these oysters flambadou – cooked only by flaming beef tallow dripping from the grill…

Nancy Silverton is the reason you eat sourdough. It was her pioneering LaBrea Bakery that first popularised it back in the ’90s, and since then she’s become a legend in her own lifetime, opening restaurants, starring in Chef’s Table, and winning more awards than we can list. It almost goes without saying that she has a Michelin Star. And now, at long last, she’s opening a restaurant in London… READ MORE

Soho’s got itself a large, immersive Batman-styled restaurant called Park Row. Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Monarch'

https://www.sneakerfreaker.com/news/where-to-buy-the-patta-x-nike-air-max-1-monarch

We haven't seen demand like this in a while! The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Monarch' has been wreaking havoc all over social media with its unique mudguard. Following a limited release last Friday, which was exclusive to the Patta site, select global retailers have been receiving stock ahead of an upcoming wider drop.

Patta and Nike's collaborative catalogue house a bunch of Grail-status Air Max 1s and the 'Monarch' is sure to slot in next to some of the greats. Most of the upper remains simplistic with clean mix of grey and 'Sail'. A dramatic orange wave mudguard is what commands attention, with the look set to be part of a larger 'The Wave' initiative.

If the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Monarch' is on your cop list, then look no further! We've curated a neat Where to Buy guide with a ton of retailers that'll have pairs stocked on October 15. Plenty of raffles are open right now and we'll be keeping this guide updated as more surface.
