OhForAGreavsie 6,090
We started the final really poorly. It was one of those performances where you're still fuming about how sloppy our play is, when it dawns on you that actually we've been in control for a good few minutes. We suffered a shaky first 10 to 15 minutes but after that became more and more dominant for the rest of the match. A fully deserved win which could easily have seen a wider margin of victory despite not really carving out all that many clear cut chances. Erin Cuthbert was a fully deserved player of the match. Fulham Broadway 17,350
Laura James missed a penalty for England v Sweden Penalty shootout has to be the worst batch of spot kicks for a while. So many spooned over and missed the target. England finally beat Sweden on last kick Vesper

Unless she's playing for somebody other than Chelsea or England, I never want to see Lauren James take another penalty. There's a lot to like about her play but there is also a consistent weakness in my opinion. She's over committed to the notion that she is the languid superstar who can operate at her own pace. This is frequently effective but LJ does sometimes fail to recognise when a different mode is the right answer. She brings this attitude to penalty taking;; strolls to the ball, doesn't really disguise her aiming point, and doesn't hit the corners. OhForAGreavsie 6,090
There's no better way to start the season than with a victory against presumed title rivals. Doing so completely deservedly, and without several injured starters, is a nice confidence boost.
