Oh, FFS!, £70m valuation for Morata??? The same as with Willian to Barca, and the exact same shit is going to happen.

We are going to get fucking stuck with BOTH, when we could have had £120m fucking pounds and been done with the trouble.  GRRRRRRRR

Its completely false that these 120m could be used to buy a lot of talented player. Right after a club sell players for big money, other clubs will overprice their own player in order to get the most out of the situation. I don't remember a single time when a team sold a player for big money then was able to invest the money in lot of good players.

Liverpool sold Torres for 50m, then had to pay 35m for Andy Carroll.

Junvetus sold Pogba back to United for 105m Euros, then had to pay 90m euros to get Higuain...

Neymar was sold to 200m, so Borussia asked 105m for Dembele (!!).

That 120m would not mean more quality in the squad, the team would still be getting the same players but for a bigger price.

Tosh. It was 2 sales, £65m (Willian) and £55m (Morata), not some £200m global blockbuster. Also, we could have been buying players before that as well.

Under your positing we could never cut any good deals if we sold any players of worth, nor could any clubs who sold players in the £40m to £80m range (and especially above). Also if you think £120m wont bring quality, you need to seriously take a look at some of the QUALITY transfers that massive teams have gotten this window, and the prices they paid.

Examples of loaded (money-wise) teams paying fair prices

Thomas Lemar to AM, £63m

Naby Keïta to the scousers, £54m, explosive MF, pretty fair price given his ability

Douglas Costa to Juve  £36m (and from Bayern, who drive hard bargains)

Gelson Martins to AM  FREE (he is easily a £40m plus player, he renounced contract due to Sporting Lisbon nightmare)

Jorginho to us £57m when add-ons are counted, thats not an overpay at all for a top 5 in world DMF/Deep holding playmaker

Malcom to Barca £37m (great price for a superb RW)

Fabinho to the scousers £40m (far better player than Bakayoko, who we paid same for)

Corentin Tolisso to Bayern last year £37m for a superb young MF, another one we cocked up

Federico Bernardeschi to Juve last year for only £36m

Leon Goretzka to Bayern on a FREE for one of best young CMF's in the world

Stefan de Vrij to Inter on a FREE for a great CB

Clément Lenglet to Barca for £32m  he is a superb young CB, another one I really wanted us to pursue

João Cancelo to Juve for £36m, a great young RB, he looked the dog's bollocks at Inter last year

Álvaro Odriozola to Real Madrid for £27m, another superb young RB, miles beyond Zappacosta

Leonardo Bonucci to Milan for £37m last year, great price even though he was 30, he has at least 3 years left at a really high level

Iñigo Martínez to Atheletic Bibao for £28m for a superb CB

Lucas Torreira to Arsenal £27m for another superb young DMF

Arthur Melo to Barca £27m for another great Brasilian CMF

Franck Kessié to Milan lat year for £18m, a steal, he has come on like gangbusters

Jean Michaël Seri to Fulham for £27m, a great price

Morata doesn't have an all round game? Hes fast, good technically, can play one or two touch, intelligent mover without the ball, good in the air... just because he was poor in the second half of the season after being arguably our most important player in the first half of the season means nothing. Fatigue, injury, loss of form, no winter break, team as a whole struggled... all different variables, fair enough maybe none of them are applicable or maybe some are but he definitely deserves another season because he showed that he has definitely got something in him as a player (unlike Bakayoko who only looked like a reasonable player in 2 games the whole season).

We are linked with Higuain because regardless we need better options up front... he is a known goalscorer and also a guy who worked with Sarri as well as the fact Juve need to sell to comply with FFP. Rugani isn't necessarily better than any CBs we've got but hes coming because hes worked with Sarri and fits the mould of what he wants in a CB. Higuain yes hes better than Morata but him coming doesn't necessarily mean its as simple as Sarri has weighed up Morata in 4 or 5 training sessions and doesn't want him. Regardless, Batshuayi and Giroud's futures are also up for debate. Batshuayi for me would be the first guy to go because he is such a limited footballer in terms of his actual all round game.

In the past people also slated Costa (who for me, was the biggest loss from our team last year, not just in terms of goals but everything else he offers) so it just really goes to show that none of us are actually really happy when we have any decent strikers....

And for me personally, it is even stupider to consider selling him when we finally have an extremely attack minded manager, who's Napoli side created the most chances in Serie A over a 3 year period, had the most shots on target and most goals scored. He will get plenty of chances in this team and his skill set is much better than Higuains in my eyes so he will offer more in terms of the build up as well as probably getting 15+ goals.

Also keep reading he wants to leave apparently? Where? Is there a source? Or is it just twitter/facebook shit?

I was so full of gope for him when we got him. It seemed perfect.

But whats your thoughts on what you have seen of Morata so far? Still gonna thrive or fall down allot?

Conte said he could turn him into a killer. I got a job on a certain lady I'd hire him for!

Hes full of mental issues. The lads just not got a strikers mentality, no intensity at all. Hes too nice. Add that with fuck all confidence and a failure to stay upright and you have a none striker

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri 'still waiting for the best Morata'

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/chelsea/story/3577874/chelsea-manager-maurizio-sarri-still-waiting-for-the-best-morata

NICE, France -- Maurizio Sarri said he is still waiting to see the best version of Alvaro Morata at Chelsea, but he praised the Spaniard's performance in Saturday's penalty shootout friendly victory over Inter Milan.

Cesar Azpilicueta netted the winning spot kick as Chelsea triumphed 5-4 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw in their International Champions Cup opener at the Allianz Riviera, with owner Roman Abramovich in attendance.

Pedro Rodriguez had earlier opened the scoring for Sarri's men on his 31st birthday after good work from Morata, who provided an impressive focal point up front before being replaced by Tammy Abraham in the 64th minute.

Morata's future has been clouded by uncertainty all summer after a disappointing first season in English football saw him score just three times in the final five months of the campaign, and Chelsea have been linked with signing Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain to replace him.

Speaking after the match, however, Sarri insisted that Morata is in his plans.

"I'm still waiting for the best Morata," he said. "In the first match [against Perth Glory] Morata did not play very well, in Australia.

"But tonight, especially in the first 30 minutes, he improved a lot. I am satisfied and I am very confident in him for the future."

Sarri also revealed that he had been encouraged by Chelsea's performance, but wants them to speed up their possession game even further as they build towards the start of the new Premier League season in a fortnight's time.

"So far, I am satisfied," he added. "I am of course waiting for the other players from the World Cup but these players gave me total availability. So now I am satisfied. I've seen in the match something that we tried during the sessions. So far, so good.

"I like the sound: 'Sarri-ball, Sarri-ball, Sarri-ball'. But I don't know the meaning, really. Because we move the ball very quickly? This evening we moved the ball well, but I think not at the right speed.

"You have to move the ball at a great speed on the floor, otherwise we risk playing for 90 minutes with 75 percent of possession but without scoring. So we have to improve on this."

Academy prospects Ethan Ampadu and Callum Hudson-Odoi were given another opportunity to impress from the start and showed promising flashes, with the latter afforded 82 minutes on the pitch.

"I don't know if they will play this season in the Premier League," he said of Ampadu and Hudson-Odoi. "But I know that these names will be very famous in the next years."

Chelsea and Manchester United target Alvaro Morata offered staggering £500,000-a-week by Tianjin Quanjian

You do realise you're posting stuff from last summer, right? At least give us your sources if you're gonna post such rubbish.

Don't believe this for a second - they should be more focused on agreeing a transfer fee before talking about how much they will pay him.

I'd be happy to give Morata another chance this year but it shouldn't be as our main man up top and I doubt the club would go big for any striker without him being sold.

As we all know, he does show some promising signs occasionally but I don't think he's ever going to be a prolific reliable goalscorer.

He's not one to fight when things are going against him, he would rather sulk and throw himself on the floor, the complete opposite of Costa who fitted our team perfectly.

Morata seems to be the type of person that's had it easy all his life and waits for things to happen for him rather than finding that bit of oomph.

There are so many question marks this year, pair that with a new manager/system it's going to be an interesting season.

I like that, a lot.  The ball needs to move faster.  Bakayoko is truly fucked.

We haven't seen the best of Morata either, so hopefully Sarri will get him towards that ceiling.

Right now, we're looking at CHO as the bak-up LW.  So, if he's not going to play in the Premier League much, I'm not sure what the plan is.

We are low key fucked with Morata's wife giving birth to twins this season. His barely going to get rest at home, we def need a quality 2nd striker.

He will have one or two nannys for sure. I doubt this will be too big of an impact.

Two pre-season games one good one bad. Hard to judge anybody on pre-season as well because it’s mainly for fitness, also he played poor v dead rubber but looked much better against Inter.

He falls down a lot but some are fouls. He’s not the only player that this happens to in Europe though.

Sarri has said he likes him so I’m sure he will give him a chance. Give him another shot this season, I think people will be surprised, think he has plenty to offer this team. Maybe I’m wrong and will continue to be but I think people will get a surprise off guys like Barkley, Pedro and Morata when the team completely adapts to the philosophy.
