Even if Coutinho goes - they’ve got Keita coming in and have shown interest in guys like Goretzka for example. At least they’re looking to replace with quality whilst also improving their squad in general. I don’t think the Van Dijk signing is great as I mentioned earlier but at least they’re showing that they’re willing to plug the right holes in their team with good talent. They’re also apparently close to signing that Swiss international Akanji - so that’s two big holes in their squad that they’ve addressed.

Coutinho leaving Liverpool would affect them far less than let’s say Hazard leaving us. Coutinho is arguably not even their most important player anyway (Salah, Mané).

The concern is there and it's a great one but really not sure we need to beat the drums about it. Let's see how we fare in the upcoming transfer windows.

Looking back at my comment it might sound that way but it really isn't. Problem with me is, when I see a thread that catches my attention it immediately give me emotions either excitement or bitterness and I rush to respond without wording it properly, sorry for that.

Really, if I wanted to say the club I'd just say "The/This club is pathetic" my wording as "we" was directed to the people who are in charge of transfers, the situation that is today. Makes no sense for me to insult the club since it has no fault but the people who run it from the inside.

Mostly I'm bitter because I know for sure Sandro would be here if we upped our offer the same as Liverpool did with VVD.

Now as you know it's least likely I'll lose these flaws of mine overnight so it's better to either use the ignore button or ignore it yourself. There are more users here who didn't like that comment I made but a lot of them decide to ignore. I have my own comments I'd wish to respond but sometimes I go against it because I'm tired of entering pointless tard wars which drain me physically. Cheers mate :drunk:

Fair enough.

Well, given our recent transfer windows... personally I don’t have much hope. Fair play to you if you do. I do hope we change.

Liverpool beat Chelsea to Virgil Van Dijk transfer by paying over the odds, claims Antonio Conte

‘This is life. For sure he as our target but as you know this is football. We can have a lot of targets but you must be able to reach those targets. The transfer market is not simple for any club.

So at least we know for certain that Conte does put forward to whoever is in charge of buying/selling big name, money players and not just putting up players with potential or recovering injurred.

And the same thing is happening with Sandro.

Van dijk isn’t our mistake. He always wanted Liverpool.  Even if we made a 80m£ he would have chosen  Liverpool without a doubt (see what happened with man city)

Shame we missed out on VvD. He's been absolutely sensational so far this season, best player in the league in the past two weeks

We went down the Napoli Koulibaly traintrack and got the Italian usual bollocksing.:(

Revisiting this...what do you think now?

Meh. It's only 2 games in for goodness sake. He may be a good defender but it's hardly catastrophic we didn't get him. As someone said above, he's always wanted Liverpool and had Conte gotten his way with Van Dijk, we might not have seen Christensen break into the starting XI!

Unfortunately, Luiz looks to have taken AC's place as a starter, grrrrrrrr

VDK is probably better than any defender we currently have (Andrea's potential aside). He was always a good player. The questions were around around his injuries and fitness level. Still early days, but it seems he has been able to remain fit for long periods of time.

The fee was excessive for position we didn't necessarily need strengthening in Jan. Certainly not losing any sleep about his performances.
