Spike 12,049
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36809083 An army group in Turkey says it has taken control of the country, with bridges closed in Istanbul and aircraft flying low over Ankara. PM Binali Yildirim earlier denounced an "illegal action" by a military "group", stressing it was not a coup. He said that the government remained in charge. Yeah, a lot of football's big names are listed to take part in that event: Mourinho, Drogba, Hazard, Essien, Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol, Benzema, Desailly etc. A few of those were probably planning on arriving in Turkey tomorrow but at least some should already be there and now they're stuck with all airports closed. Fernando 6,585
Crazy stuff. I wonder how this lines up eventually with Bible Prophecy. Some have speculated that ezequiel Prophecy of Gog and magog is turkey as it's leader. That will one day attack Israel with many nations. Interesting time relating to Bible Prophecy and the coming of the Lord. The rapture of the church should be very near.
CHOULO19 24,332
Fair play to the Turkish people and opposition political parties for standing up bravely to the military coup. Unfortunately there was no way this would end well. But if Erdogan was a power mad paranoid authoritarian before, I shudder to think of what he turns into now... Yeah, there's already some whispers about bringing back the death penalty and hanging all the people behind the coup. That's just the first step, next thing we know they're hanging anyone possessing even slightly opposing opinions towards Erdogan's dictatorship be it on social media or wherever. Sad... Like I said, there was no imaginably way that this would have ended well. Either way, the scarce remaining signs of democracy in Turkey were going to get destroyed.
