The poor soul who wrote that probably doesn't realize that JT is the sole reason why our defence isn't leaking like a sieve. Stick somebody like world's most expensive defender David Luiz to replace him and we win 4-5 insetad of 0-5. He has always been the backbone of our defensive solidity and continues to be so, as we've seen from time to time again how dearly we miss him when he's out.

They do have one persistent weakness though and that is in defence. They sit so deep because John Terry can’t play high up the pitch. If you sit that deep against teams like Bayern and Madrid they will break you down and make opportunities.

John Terry can’t spend all game heading balls away and making clearances because eventually he will make a mistake or commit a foul. The better teams don’t allow themselves to get entrenched in their own box, they defend high up the pitch and squeeze the game – it is more of an offensive mindset and Terry's limitations don't allow Chelsea to play that way.

My biggest concern is that they don’t have much space between the goalkeeper and the back four: that means their decision-making has to be perfect to avoid conceding goals. If they sit so deep it invites teams to come forward and there is lots of space for players like Thomas Mueller or Gareth Bale to exploit between the defence and midfield.

I just think that with Terry in the back line they are not as flexible or mobile as they should be and that could be fatal. But still, even then if Chelsea get into trouble they have an excellent goalkeeper in Thibaut Courtois. They will be very, very hard to beat this season.

That's what they say in the article and I don't see how that's being deluded. I've been saying the same thing - if you park the bus and allow the opposition on to you (as opposed to pressing high and squeezing the game) then you have to rely on perfection from your players and hope the opposition don't produce a moment of brilliance.

They can bemoan whatever player they want at Chelsea, but still it's a fact we are undefeated this season (so far) and look the best of the bunch to end the season with silver-ware. JT comes into his own with corner attacks and his amazing ethic to 'never loose' attiude, pace may not be on his side but his tacical awareness and effort are STILL there to show.

A true legend that i hope will continue to coach the young defenders when he does eventually retire. (Might be this summer, or next - depending of the success imo).
