Has PL lost footballing quality?

A very interesting question for PL is are teams actually average and as a result we have this unpredictability or are all teams that strong which is the other reason for unpredictability?

(lack of) English results in Europe seems to give strength to the first scenario mentioned.

I guess we will see this season.

What John Bishop says about not wearing socks reminds me the transfer policy and the tiki taka obsession of English clubs in recent years. 1.65 m tall 55 kg physically weak players might play well all season in Spain but you can't expect similar performance in England.
