Wouldn't say Forlan or Falcao as they already were quality before they came

O, I just meant that in the Atletico system, the center forwards usually did pretty well..... Agreed, that both of them were already establised.....

I love how all of a sudden when Falcao doesn't score lots of goals, none of you guys want him, when months earlier you were drooling over him...

it's normal, it's human

He scores. That's it. He offers nothing else. Our team doesn't need JUST a goalscorer though. Porto and Atletico played FOR and TO Falcao and DEPENDED on him - hence his high goal output. We never do that though. We never depend on our strikers like every other top team seems to do. We've always had goals coming from midfield; from Di Matteo (not so much), to Lampard, to Mata. It's what makes us Chelsea - everyone chips in; just like Ramires's goal vs. Barcelona (PUN INTENDED!!!)

The reason lots of us seem to desire Falcao is because he scores loads compared to Torres who just doesn't score - and also offers very little else. But what happens if Falcao comes and goes on a dry-spell of not scoring? He can't hold up play like Drogba, dribble and assist like Zola, bully defenders like JFH etc. Without his finishing, he will offer the same to us as what Torres currently offers.

When it comes to other players though; Jovetic is more the Zola type who can contribute with assists, taking free-kicks etc. if his scoring boots just stop working. Lewandowski helps build-up play tremendously. Cavani is the closest player to Drogba I've ever seen - He works tirelessly, bullies the opposition, wins aerial duels, helps defend set-pieces etc.

We simply must invest in a complete player again to, not replace Drogba, but fill his void.

We can't put all the faults on Falcao (in theory) though or even Torres. Any poacher-like player at this club is destined to fail - for the exact reason I started with. We play for eachother on the pitch and not solely for the striker. The only way a Falcao-type player will work here is if we invest in a proper playmaker to play central, get a top class winger for the right hand-side, and our players learn how to get the ball to the striker more (which we fail to do even with Ba up-top.)

Cavani would be at the top of my list IF we get someone and don't throw Lukaku into the deep end. Failing that, I'd want our scout team to grow some balls and gamble on lesser known player perhaps from Ligue 1 or Holland who fits the bill.

It's interesting that you say all of that stuff about Falcao not contributing much if he isn't scoring goals, but then list Cavani who up until today has been fairly poor recently while he hasn't been scoring goals

Falcao doesn't have the skill-set required. Cavani does, only he'd been out of form - which every striker experiences.

It is one thing to criticize his asking price (which is ridiculous), now, it is another to start doing posts about his talent and ability because of it.

The exact same people having orgasms when he scored 5 goals in one game are the ones doing complete downside posts, weird!

Keep it about Falcao, please. These kind of comments are not tolerated here. Thank you.

It's a valid question...

North Korea doesn't have internet access... Also, I'm pretty sure they don't know who Chelsea is as well...

And what does this have to do with Falcao? This is a football forum, if you want to go off topic go to the General Chat sub-forum, and even there we don't appreciate stereotypes that can be found offensive by some of our members.

Skill-set required? I'm sorry but in terms of movement, positioning etc Falcao wins it for me. Cavani's work rate is the biggest difference. But it's all opinions I guess though

North korea may be the country that is most closed to the world but that doesnt mean there are no north koreans in western countries or anywhere abroad with access to internet and football.

Back to falcao, I have to agree with Leif on this, really nicely put points there. I think we are better of signing someone in a similar mold to cavani who offers more in buildups and other areas, especially in our system,

Dont understand how a guy who scores 45 in 57 appearances or something like that in one of the strongest leagues whilst not playing for one of the big 2 can have any question marks over him. Seen someone earlier write that all he does is score....AND? Thats what we need, an out and out goal machine who doesnt spend most of his time out on the wing mincing about. He or cavani would be great but not sure we will get either

The question is whether we should be committing close to £100 million to him when we have needs in other areas. Personally I'm not sure we do need an 'out and out goal machine' when we've never really needed one in the past. I've always thought we were at our best when we had goals throughout the team and let's not forget we won two league without a 15 goal a season striker (incidentally we'll probably have two of those next season).
