Radamel Falcao

The problem with the team is the lack of experience, a better defender than Cahill, and better DM than Mikel, a better striker than Torres and some player's lack of experience, and the biggest one is: we dont a team and no one to build one. Falcao will solve one of these problems, he is part of the process. I dont thinl anyone believe Falcao will solve everything.

Take Cole, Terry and Lampard out and we haven't got much in terms of Premier ship experience.

also, remember our start to the season? 1 loss to Clattenburg's ManUre and we never recovered. this side needs leaders on the pitch. enough with the under-23 revolution and go out and sign players in the 24-28 year old bracket

i would have had a new CM to play next to the DM.

This x1000

Roman could toss Falcao's transfer fee in the fireplace and not lose any sleep over it. He wipes his ass with £ notes, remember.

Saying he doesn't have the money is laughable.

do you know what FFP even is? owner's money is quite immaterial. we need to break even without roman's backpocket

Football clubs wishing to take part in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League must balance their football-related expenditure over a three-year period up to the 2014–15 season

i havent thought that at all, especially not since March when we started playing realy well, and i think that team was a lot more solid than Utd's team today.

Things were not all rosy that season and should have been used as a warning sign. We recovered and romped to the title in the end because we were out of the CL and only playing once a week, infact the time we had to play 2 league games in a week at the end was against Bolton were we limped to a win then against Spurs were we got battered.

There were warning signs that season that the team needed to be changed but the end made us and the board believe it was all rosy, looking back it would have been better if our form patterns during 09/10 reversed.

EDIT: i completely misread your post

Still no excuse to spend 50m and 200k/wk that we don't have on one player.

How do you know we don't have it?

This club has been run rather well on the financial side in the last few years. How much was the Gazprom deal worth? Don't forget that in all likelihood Cole, Lamps and Malouda will drop off the payroll in the next 6 months.

Plus you've got to bear in mind that Falcao's goals might be what pushes us into the top four and secures Champions League money next year. At the moment we're playing matches with 10 (and a half if I'm being super nice) men.

Oh please. Dont you think we got people working to keep track of this? Do you honestly think that we do not have ways to cover our ass?

Oh, I didn't know you were an accountant. Perhaps you work for UEFA as well and know it inside out? What...You don't? Oh...Well then please shut up and stop acting like you know FFP and how to run a football club...

FFP is pretty simple and it's all published online.

The problem is that no-one on here is privy to the club's accounts and plans going forward. I've mentioned it twice now but no-one seems to know exactly how much the Gazprom deal is worth (apologies if someone has posted it and I missed it). No-one knows what will happen with the contracts of certain players in the next year.

So people saying 'we don't have the money' simply don't know. What we do know is that the board have done a pretty good job in taking us from a loss-making enterprise to a company that more than breaks-even.

I made a the comparison of our expected income and expenses a few pages back but I can't find it now. Bottom line is, taking into consideration everything, the most important factor being the departure from the CL, there is no way we can afford this unless that Gazprom deal is worth at least 40m/yr which is not possible because that's barely what we get from Samsung.

This club has been run rather well on the financial side in the last few years.

LOL seriously? We have a bunch of a few of the most overpaid athlete's in the world, that is not taking into account paying over the odds for almost every deal not the least of which was the 18m for Bosingwa and obviously the 50m flop.

Oh, I didn't know you were an accountant. Perhaps you work for UEFA as well and know it inside out? What...You don't? Oh...Well then please shut up and stop acting like you know FFP and how to run a football club...

So you must be an accountant who works for UEFA because you know that we can afford to buy Falcao, right?

I am as entitled to my opinion as much as you are. And have some respect to the person you are discussing, you're already one slip away from a ban.

EDIT: This was the post I was talking about:

A few logic gaps:

1) The transfer fee does not have to be uniformly divided on the length of his contract neither do we have to give him 5.5 years. But let's over look this point because both could be possible.

2) Josh and PVA are not adequate replacements for Lamps and Cole, at least not at the moment.

3) Our squad is very thin and we need reinforcement not just at ST but in several other areas.

4) Our expenses this year have been far more than last year. This year we bought the likes of Moses, Oscar, Hazard, Marin and Azpi who cost a whole lot more than last season's signings who, apart from Mata who cost 23m IIRC, were relatively cheap deals.

5) Last and most important, we got 47m for winning the CL last season but we'll only get 3.9m for making the group stages this season. And even if we win the EL we will only get 3m. That is 40m less than we made last season! There is no way that the deals we made can cover the this deficit, we'd be lucky to even be getting 15-20m a year from those deals. That is still a 20-25m less than our income last season unlike the article that assumed that we would have about the same income.

Sorry boys, but this is written in hope rather than logic.

Apologies. I did some research and it seems that you get 3.9m for getting into the group stages then 550k for each match, 800k for each win and 400 for each draw (all in euros) which would make our total income 11.8m euros or less than 9.6m pounds as opposed to last season's 47m pounds.

Still, I think my point stands and the sponsorship deals won't be able to make up the 37m difference.

This forum seems to be losing it's humanity.

Then do something to change that.

There's nothing to do.

Hopefully the increasing no. of fights, arguments and personal attacks are just a phase we as fans are going through as a result of what our club has gone through over the past few months.

Gotta give benefit of the doubt here..... and hope!

There is always something to do. However insignificant it may seem at the time, is inconsequential to the future.
