Radamel Falcao

Torres has more goals from open play than Falcao this season.

If Torres had been taking our penalties all season, like Falcao does at Atletico, Torres would likely be ahead on goals period.

Torres offers his team more than Falcao offers his. (All Falcao offers is finishing. Really. That's it.) Despite finishing being an attribute Falcao is miles ahead with when compared to Torres this season, Torres is finding the back of the net more often.

All of this while Atletico Madrid play to every strength Falcao has and craft out almost every move exclusively for him.

And people want Roman to pay £40m for this guy in January?

Wut?

I'd understand a bit more wanting to get him in the Summer (although it would still be a strange move in my opinion considering how one-dimensional he is), and trust me - I want this season to be Torres's last; but maybe Falcao just isn't the answer at all?

Infact, reading back and taking everything into account, I've changed my mind. I don't actually think Falcao is a great finisher. I believe he's simply a good finisher who has a great technique, causing him to score some spectacular goals. And that's it. He's not as good as his stats suggest. The fact that teams play FOR him means he gets SO many chances and shots that he simply HAS to score a high amount. Every other attribute really must be questioned.

There's a reason he's never played for a very top club. Managers can see through the hype which fogs many fans' view on him.

Spot on mate. I couldn't agree more.

Key one for me is 1989 minutes compared to 1167 minutes

Exactly.

I'll tell you now, not only as someone who studies stats, but someone who has common sense (not that you don't or anything); those stats don't mean shit.

Sorry, as themightyblue and nadavTKL have already pointed out, the main comparison was the amount of games played and Falcao has played 10 less. Whoever made that chart needs to do it again with an equal amount of games played by each. Want to bet Falcao will get at least 2 goals from open play in the next 10 games? I didn't think so...

He's not as good as his stats suggest.

I find this comment quite ironic!

Sorry mate, I'm not trying to bash you, nor am I advocating Falcao, I'm just trying to point out that stats are easily manipulated! Thats all! :)

Tbh thats kind of right, when Torres plays good like he did today he plays better than Falcao does most games..

Torres at Liverpool would be an amazing fit to this team, I want him back!

However, people get too excited over one performance. All I was saying is that one game does not make him better than Falcao. Yes, I know, Torres doing what he can is better than the average Falcao, but how often will we see it?

Signing Falcao (assuming he wont be a flop) will give us at least 1 great performance in 3/4 games, RVP and Aguero stats.

Honestly. This guy needs to come to England to prove all the doubters wrong and show why he's the best striker on the planet along with Rvp. Have seen some hideous amounts of underrating of him on this thread :fainthv9:

He has scored 11 goals in the League so far , 5 of which are penalties ^_^ IMO , Higuain would be a better buy than him

Whilst Falcao is undeniably a great player, I can't be the only supporter who has reservations about is signing him.

1. We signed a 26 year old 'world class' striker almost two years ago in the same transfer window, and it hasn't quite worked out.

2. In six months time, we will probably have a new manager who may or may not want this new striker or might have a formation that requires someone different and we're then left with two £50 million strikers on the payroll.

3. January is a notoriously tough time to buy players because prices are inflated and it's hard for new players to settle.

Now this could all be solved by Torres getting his form back and us just bringing in a PL-proven backup like Ba. Even if that doesn't happen though, this is a transfer that really has me worried.

Against Deportivo La Coruna

lol... Really, your undying love for torres, makes you disregard falcoa... I didn't see you saying that torres only scored vs nordsjaelland, or sunderland.

You are so funny... i honestly think you are just trolling.

Sunderland is better than Deportivo  and Imo Falcao is overrated . Jose Callejon is much better and cheaper choice and for the goals , he actually scored two against Ajax this week
