Kojo 4,676
Can we change the thread title please, it's just stupid. We are going on about how Falcao chose all this for money rather than Championship glory, but maybe he is just happy playing his football and isn't too fussy to begin with. You also need to realise that if you're a mercenary it doesn't make you the fucking devil, footballers have short careers, once they're over that's it, you need to make as much money as you can in this game or otherwise you are going to regret it in the longterm. Not every player in the world can just go over to Sky Sports, then again with tools like Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp maybe you can. BleedsBlue 1,549
I wish him well and hope he helps Monaco achieve champions league football.
Cosmin 2,484
Thread title is full of hypocrisy.Just remember that we've been where Monaco are today a lot of times. It's not like we are Borussia Dortmund or Ajax Amsterdam. We are big spenders as well and our recent history is built on money. Like it or not, that's the truth.Falcao will go to a great club. He's not going to Anzhi, Zenit, or some Al Kebab team from Arabia or China.
EBH 283
I think many people here are right. It is very bad for us to act like Liverpool, Arsenal, United fans. Monaco beat us in Champions League in 2004, do not forget, they are a proper team. Radamel is not a mercenario, if you call him that then I am sad to say that Drogba is also mercenary for leaving Marseille. And I do not support Radamel because he is from Colomia, I support him because I think many people are being wrong and saying bad things about him that are not true. BleedsBlue 1,549
I like Monaco's strategy of bringing in Ex-Porto players.Their new signings will find it easier to adjust as the majority have played with each other before. If they sign up Hulk,I am certain that they will do well in their first season back in top league. Special Juan 28,141
The thread title is just a bit of fun, wind your necks in for gods sake people, lighten up a fraction. Also, if Monaco where in the German League we could call them Bayern Daleague
edetarod 2,155
i love modern football, with other teams trying to be the best they can be and not just sitting around watching the big teams win everything
mybodyisready 155
Or maybe we did and were not willing to offer the ridiculous 14m wages ? All you have to do is throw a coin off a cliff and that whole Monaco team is dead.Yet torrid gets 1m less than that.Falcao is not a mercenary, if you get offered 14 million for 365 days x 4 years to:1. Play football in a league were you know you are going to dominate2. Live in a place like Monaco3. Play with some top footballers (James, Moutinho and whoever else they sign)I am 100% sure you'd take it as well. Mercenaries are players like Willian (Living in Cechnya or Dagestan is not fun) and to an extent Hulk. Also anyone that joins city. Besides Monaco have history and so do we (not trying to sound like liverscum) so you can't call players joining us mercenaries.
The Skipper 20,609
I'm not bitter about this at all. Falcao is a brilliant player but I'm happy that it looks like we're missing our on him simply because I don't believe he'll do that well with us. He isn't a mercenary. Don't know why people are so bitter about it. He's joining an ambitious project over at Monaco. If we really wanted Falcao he'd obviously choose us over them but it looks like the club have someone else in mind which is great in my opinion. I doubt we've even made an offer for him this summer so I don't understand why people are crying. There is no solid evidence that we actually made an offer for Falcao and he chose Monaco over us because of money. Like I said, don't know why people are so bitter - you're all just assuming scenarios. If we're going to spend big on a striker I'd rather have Cavani all day long. Ryan Fong 2,776
We simply have no rights to judge Monaco whether Falcao is a money grabber or not. The fact is that he's not ours, move on.
