Radamel Falcao

If Remy goes I'm not sure that this is a good situation, however, if the competition for 2nd striker is between Falcao and say... Austin it will give them both incentive to go hard seeing as both have something to prove to the manager.

sheva was 30 and on the wane a bit... falcao is 29 and struggled last season because he tried to rush back from serious injury in a very short span of time, then found himself in a team in total disarray with a manager who was mixing and matching his team each week because it was his first year in the premier league and manu were struggling, obviously those are some of the worst set of circumstances he could have found himself in for his first season in England... as to your request for one good reason: it's good enough for Jose, whose job depends on making such calls, so it should be good enough for you.

"On the wane", a forward who scored 28 goals in 40 appearances for Milan in his last season, who played in a Champions League final the season before that. Compare him at 29/30 years old to Falcao at 29 years old.

Mourinho is a great tactician but he is no magician. If Falcao is past it he is past it, there is nothing Mourinho can do. I can't help but feel that this is just stubbornness on Mourinho's part (a Premier League flop signing for the Premier League champions, something is clearly wrong here). Besides, aren't you contradicting yourself here? Going by that logic if Sheva was good enough for Jose then it should have turned out well, same with Claudio Pizarro, Salomon Kalou etc. Were these players good enough for you?

Also, some people here are expecting Falcao to score 15+ goals this season? Seriously. Are you all hoping Diego Costa will break both legs or what. A has-been and a massive Premier League flop scoring 15+ goals while being our 3rd choice striker. Mmmkay.

most of the flops you mentioned were not jose signings, it was widely reported sheva was roman... kalou was a great back-up striker imo, he could come off the bench and score (even if watching him would drive us insane at times) so i don't count that as a flop... as to pizarro, it was jose but if i remeber correctly we didnt have cash to soend that summer and bought shite like him, sidwell, ben taim etc... dont think he would have signed pizarro if we had cash for better players...

and ironically, your story about sheva just goes to show that you never know, just like a striker who scored 28g in 40 games for milan (didnt remember he did quite so well in his last year there but i take your word for it) can be a flop for us, by the same token a striker who was plagued with injuries last year and dealt with a new coach, team (team in disarray btw) and league can be amazing for us...

anyways my point is jose knows better than all of us and there is a reason why we topped the prem and that jose is the special one. i've learned with mata and David luiz (two of my favorite players in the past few years) that sometimes even when something jose does looks/feels wrong, it can and probably will turn out great in the end

Cuadrado on Falcao: "I'm very happy that he's with us [at Chelsea], but first we've got to concentrate on the Copa" #CFC

Colombia coach Pekerman: "Falcao and Cuadrado are going to help each other in Chelsea and will do great things" #CFC (via @cesaralo)

I don't need to read a lot of posts to understand this deal comes with its flaws. Not my fault I'm cautious about the club I support.. as Special Juan said.. it's my own opinion on the matter at hand.

You wrote you wonder whether you are alone thinking this deal is not so good - so no, there are many doubters here ;)

i am absolutely loving this deal.

with the way people are cribbing, you would think we had got peter crouch on loan. low expectations, not much invested, very low risk move.

i think falcao's gonna surprise the shit out of a lot of people.

If we end up losing such a valuable and reliable striker in Remy as a result, it will be impossible to justify this signing. It is illogical and totally needless. I don't know the need for signing a washed up striker to be third choice when you have two solid strikers in Traore and Bertrand to fill the role. Who spends £10m minus wages on a third choice anyway.
