CHOULO19 24,332
Jose Mourinho: Ashley Cole has to fight for his Chelsea placeActually surprised that the media have not made more about Jose benching Cole. Remember what happened when AVB benched him?
Reddish-Blue 2,509
Actually surprised that the media have not made more about Jose benching Cole. Remember what happened when AVB benched him?Well..Cole is coming to the end of his career...its only natural that older players are on the bench in certain games. The media are more interested in De Bruyne, Mata, Hazard's passport... This is Mourinho. It's always easier from the media POV to target someone younger and inexperience..
ChelseasMessiah 304
I don't think Ash's been that bad bar his last 2 games. There are people who deserve to be stuck on the bench far more than him... nore_ega
Phil Driver 503
Of our older players Ash is the one who is nearest to the end ,he suffers from bad ankles and was always a high energy player and is slowing down , I think Jose has seen this and that is why he is on the bench ,once his legs go he has little else to give us and I would not be surprised to see him not offered a new deal . Tomo 21,751
I think he is the most likely to leave at the end of the season out of our veteran Englishmen, i think Lampard will get another year again, but hopefully with a much lesser role with out pivot completely re-energized. BlueLion. 21,491
I think he might even move on this January, in all honesty. I know he only has 6 months left to run on his contract, but we would easily fetch £3-5 million from a club like PSG or Monaco, or even an MLS franchise. Not sure if Blanc is a great fan of Cole, especially with his current form. Likewise for Ranieri and Monaco. MLS might fetch us a few millions for him. Personally I'll keep him on unless we sign someone like Coentrao and we can safely go for Shaw next summer.
bushman 2,043
As I have seen over the years, every good thing must come to an end.Ashley Cole is near it, I feel. I was even surprised to see Chelsea signing him & paying him a lot of money.I believe, it´s time for the club to look for a replacement, soon. Better chances of him being let go for free next summer.

ChelseasMessiah 304
He would have done better than Baines yesterday, on the bright-side he's getting invaluable rest to recharge his batteries so he can be in top condition for us. Had an absolute mare. Woy would have been better off getting Shaw to play with the senior squad rather than the U21s.

And if used wisely, Cole can still perform well, maybe not to the high standards he once set, but still good enough at least. Problem comes when he's being flogged to death especially with this troubling ankle issue he seems to be having.
NishC300 1,865
Cole please play like this for us! (After watching 1st half of Eng vs Germany)
ChelseasMessiah 304
I think he'll start midweek. His batteries should be fully recharged by now and as long as his 100% fit he'll do well again.

The Skipper 20,609
Surely Ashley is fresh enough to contribute again now.
