Benfica are reportedly weighing up a summer swoop for Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma.

Quaresma is contracted to Inter Milan but he has been on loan with Chelsea since the winter transfer window.He was allowed to move to Stamford Bridge after failing to impress under compatriot Jose Mourinho during his five-month stay at Inter.

But Quaresma saw Luiz Felipe Scolari sacked just days after his arrival in London and has found playing time extremely limited under Guus Hiddink.

He has been used mostly in the Blues' reserve squad and reports in Portugal now suggest that Benfica are monitoring the situation.

According to the media stories, Inter are keen to off-load the 25-year-old but want to use him as a bargaining chip in a player-plus-cash deal.

According to the latest reports, Chelsea will not be offering him a permanent deal.

I really dont get what all the hype is around this guy, every big lub he has played for he has been shit. Barcelona, Inter and well he hasnt really had a chance to be shit at Chelsea but I cant see him doing wonders for us to be honest. Before someone comes up with tosh like "but he's better than what we have", we don't need slight improvements on current wingers, we need substantial improvement and genuinely quality talent which is threatening to the class of opposition a club like Chelsea faces week in week out. And Quaresma isn't that.

I remember every game he played for us he did well, but since Scolari left 1 game later and Hiddink took over he found it difficult and just got 1 or 2 games in the carling cup as sub. His debut against Hull was good, if I remember right he was the best player on the pitch and he had a good one against Cardiff. I was always a fan of him and when we got him I was ecstatic, wouldn't be bad if we got him now too - if under double digits it could turn out to be brilliant. He's doing great at Beskiktas, nevertheless I'm sure their are a lot of wingers higher in our wanted list.
